Mets vs. Dodgers Picks
By Mike Rose
The last thing the New York Mets want to deal with are the red hot Los Angeles Dodgers after the Nationals just rubbed their face in it over the last four days. Be that as it may, Terry Collins squad must travel west where an offensive dynamo awaits for an extended four game series. Dave Roberts’ squad is in the midst of a competitive three horse race in the NL West, and doesn’t have to leave Chavez Ravine till the end of June. Perfect time to take the lead!

After sweeping the Braves in Atlanta and following it up by taking two of three from the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs, it looked like the Mets were on the up and up. However, Washington smacked them back down into reality right quick taking three of the four games played to build their lead atop the NL East back up to 10.5 games.
Only the Cubs, Phillies and Giants have cost baseball bettors more money than the Mets who are down $1,414 overall. That said, the team has proven to be a formidable opponent on the road where they’ve played to an even 14-14 record ( -$30 ). This is a club currently hanging on by a thread due to the injury bug devastating the roster.
Since dropping the first two games of their home series with the Nationals at the beginning of June, the Dodgers have been on a tear rattling off wins in nine of their last 10 games to pull even with the Arizona Diamondbacks a game in back of the Colorado Rockies. If the season ended today, each would be playing one another in the play-in game for the right to battle the Nats.
LA is one of three teams that have been moneymakers for baseball bettors this season. With a return on investment of $756 overall, the Dodgers are the fifth best bet in the league. All of that profit has been attained at home where Los Angeles has won 25 of its 35 played games ( $835 ).
Player to Watch
Cody Bellinger – Aaron Judge might be getting all of the accolades in the American League by crushing a league-best 23 home runs, but it’s Bellinger that’s making waves in the National League. The lefty slugger hit the ground running but then cooled off for a couple weeks before turning the jets back on. Over his last 10 games, Bellinger has tallied 12 hits and 12 RBI in his last 40 at-bats with seven of them leaving the yard. He’s gotten a hit in seven of his last eight games, and 14 of his 19 overall home runs have come against right-handers.
Mets vs. Dodgers Picks
Robert Gsellman might own a 2-1 road record, but that has more to do with his offense bailing him out more than anything else. He’s the owner of a 6.33 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in his four starts as a visitor, and two of the starts took place in Atlanta against the weak hitting Braves. LA’s 32-17 and averages 5.0 runs per game against righties – good luck!
The Dodgers have won seven of Brandon McCarthy’s 11 overall starts againstthe odds at BookMaker.eu, and he’s been his best at home where he’s logged a 2.83 ERA and 0.97 WHIP. Each of his last three home starts have been of quality, and I just don’t foresee Gsellman being able to match his production before he hands it over to the Dodgers much better pen.
