If ever a team made good on having its bye week, it was the Washington Redskins! Now granted, the Philadelphia Eagles ship has sunk, but you couldn’t help but come away impressed with what RG3 and the boys did en route to churning out the impressive 31-6 home win and cover. The Skins’ pass defense entered the game as one of the worst units in the league, but it only allowed for rookie QB Nick Foles to throw for 204 yards and it picked him off twice. Considering Dallas possesses one of the better passing offenses ( #7 at 284.3 YPG ), that unit will once again have to show up and play like it did in Week 11 if it’s to go into ‘Big D’ and pull the football odds shocker.
Along with the defense playing exceptionally well, the offense was also rock solid with Robert Griffin III completing 14 of his 15 overall passes for 200 yards and a career best four TD passes. RB Alfred Morris allowed for the attack to not be one dimensional by toting the pigskin 20 times for 76 yards. Both he and RG3 are the main reason why there’s optimism for the Skins heading into this Week 12 battle. To date, Washington checks in 2-3 SU & 3-2 ATS on the road, but Head Coach Mike Shannahan’s squad hasn’t tasted the thrill of victory in the visitor’s role since going into Tampa Bay and pulling the last second 24-22 win as 1.5-point underdogs.
Like many of their wins this season, last Sunday’s 23-20 overtime win against the Cleveland Browns was far from pretty, but when you’re only a game back of the NFC East lead, you’ll take wins any way you can get them. After getting booed off the field heading into the locker room down 13-0 to a team that had yet to win a game on the road, the Cowboys came out like gangbusters in the second half but still needed every break to go their way just to pull out the SU win as seven-point home chalk.
QB Tony Romo has always been a punching bag for criticism, but you can’t overlook what he did last Sunday after completing 35 of his 50 overall passes for 313 yards and a score without an interception thrown. He will no doubt be licking his chops to get a piece of a Redskins secondary that’s been torched by some of the best field generals in the league all season long. The Cowboys have only split their four home games played to date ( 0-4 ATS ), but with four of their final six regular season football betting odds match-ups being held in front of the hometown faithful, expect to see the best the team has to offer moving forward.
Free Prediction – As impressive as the Redskins domination of the Eagles was, I simply can’t put much stock into it with Philadelphia in such disarray right now. And as much as it pains me to lean the way of the bankroll bursting Cowboys considering they’re just 3-7 ATS the L/10 times they were favored, I have no choice but to back them in this Turkey Day spot considering they still possess a more believable chance in qualifying for the playoffs.
The Cowboys have won seven of these hated rivals L/10 overall meetings, and though they’ve failed to cover this rivalry each of the L/5 times they hosted it, they still won four of those match-ups and had to lay an average of 9.1 PPG in those games. The football line value clearly resides with them here, so now it’s up to them to not make me look like a cooked turkey when this game is said and over with.
