Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
NFL betting gets going once again for football fans, and Bookmaker Sportsbook brings you our picks for the Week 3 AFC showdown between the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis, IN will be the site of Sunday, September 25th’s NFL betting showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts. This Week 3 8:20 ET kickoff will be televised nationally on NBC.
NFL Betting Odds
Pittsburgh Steelers (-10.5)
Indianapolis Colts (+10.5)
Just in case you’ve slept through the past several months and have just woken up, yes, you are seeing this right: The Colts are double digit underdogs in NFL sportsbook betting action this week at home. And yes, QB Peyton Manning probably is going to be watching the game from a television set at his home instead of being there with his teammates to keep the attention off of him.
Poor QB Kerry Collins is going to be a sitting duck in this game. Sure, he didn’t get nearly as much pressure against the Cleveland Browns, but the Houston Texans were in his face the entire game in Week 1, and there was just no time to be able to get the ball off. Against the Steelers, that time will be even shorter, and you can bet that this unit is going to be swarming all over the field to try to get a second straight shutout after whitewashing the Seattle Seahawks last week.
Collins isn’t the only problem with this offense, though. RB Joseph Addai looks like the game has totally passed him by, and RB Delone Carter just doesn’t look like he’s got the goods to be able to pick up the slack on an every down basis either.
That being said, the NFL betting odds in this one are also counting on QB Ben Roethlisberger putting up a significantly better game this week than he has in his first two duels this year. He only has two TD passes, one in each of his first two games, and he has been picked off three times. A 62.0 percent completion percentage isn’t really Big Ben-esque, and we expect to see better against an Indy defense that made both QB Matt Schaub and QB Colt McCoy look like studs.
RB Rashard Mendenhall has only found the end zone once this year as well, and we think that he could be in store for at least one TD and over 100 yards on the ground after averaging just 3.6 yards per carry to start the season.
NFL Betting Picks – The NFL betting spreads are awfully high in this one, but it is justified. It’s really only a matter of time until we start seeing numbers like 20 hung against these Colts in games like this one, and we tend to think that the Steelers are just going to rumble right through Indy with a three TD victory.
