CBB Gambling – Northwestern & Georgia Tech to Collide in Big 10/ACC Challenge
Written by North Shore Sports, INC
The Northwestern Wildcats and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are set to go at it in CBB gambling action at Bookmaker Sportsbook when they match up in the Big 10/ACC Challenge.
The Northwestern Wildcats (4-0, 2-1 ATS) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-2, 1-2 ATS) have a CBB gambling date with one another in the Big 10/ACC Challenge on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011; tip-off from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA is set to go live at 7:15 ET with ESPNU carrying the live national telecast.
The Wildcats have a game to go with the Stony Brook Seawolves before this, but should remain unblemished on the year when they invade Philips Arena in search of their sixth win of the season. The year has gotten off to a fantastic start for Head Coach Bill Carmody’s kids who took first place in the Charleston Classic last Sunday. Their successful run through the tourney began with an 88-82 comeback win over LSU whom they outscored 56-41 in the second half behind John Shurna’s 37 points to pull out the 88-82 win; the six point triumph did however fail to cover the 7.5-point closing CBB gambling line.
The Wildcats then bounced back with a pair of neutral court covers against both Tulsa and Seton Hall to move to 2-1 ATS for the year. The duo of Shurna and Drew Crawford are the only players on the team registering double digits in scoring at 21.5 and 20.8 PPG respectively. The two also lead the team in rebounding collecting 12.2 of the Cats 24.5 boards per game; UNW has been outrebounded by 6.2 rebounds per game. That stat alone should have Wildcat backers a bit worried considering Georgia Tech has outrebounded its foes by an average of 11.6 RPG.
Georgia Tech also found itself at the Charleston Classic last week, but new Head Coach Brian Gregory’s kids hardly had the success as tonight’s opponent. They lost outright to St. Joseph’s 66-53 as short two-point favorites before taking out one of last year’s Big Dance Cinderellas – VCU – in the next round as 2.5-point underdogs. In their tournament finale, GTECH took on LSU and lost by a 59-50 final tally once again as negligible neutral court chalk.
Though they outboarded the Tigers 38-31 and limited them to just 32.8 percent from the field, the Yellow Jackets turned the ball over a whopping 22 times which ultimately cost them the final outcome in the low scoring game. G Mfon Udofia’s 14 points led the way in the CBB gambling odds defeat, and he along with Glen Rice Jr., Kammeron Holsey, and Daniel Miller are the only double-digit scorers on this team. Georgia Tech has a date with Siena on Thanksgiving Eve, so hopefully the team can work out the kinks before this huge grudge battle.
These squads met up in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge last season in Evanston at Ryan Arena where the Wildcats punked the Ramblin’ Wreck 91-71 as six-point favorites. Crawford and Shurna led the way for Northwestern who shot nearly 65 percent from the field and played even with the Yellow Jackets on the glass. If all of those winning intangibles present themselves once again in this year’s CBB gambling lines rematch, the purple and white will remain undefeated on the season.
