The New York Knicks and are battling for playoff position in the Eastern Conference late in the season. Here at Bookmaker Sportsbook, we’re helping you beat the basketball odds with our preview of Wednesday night’s game in Atlanta.

The Knicks have won eight in a row S.U. and eight of nine ATS heading into their Tuesday night game against the Miami Heat. In their last time out, the Knicks beat the against the Boston Celtics 108-89 thanks to 14 three-pointers. This win streak followed up a 1-4 road trip earlier in March, and the Knicks have won their last three road games S.U. and ATS.

On Monday, the Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 102-94 behind 25 points from G Devin Harris. Josh Smith had 18 points and 14 rebounds. Atlanta lost to the Knicks in the teams’ only meeting this year, though, on January 27th. At Madison Square Garden, Carmelo Anthony notched a three-point-play with 12.5 seconds left, giving the Knicks a 106-104 S.U. win. The two teams combined for 26 three-pointers — 16 by the Knicks and nine for Anthony, who finished with 42 points. Jeff Teague led Atlanta with 27 points.

The Knicks and Hawks have had their way with the basketball odds when shooting well from behind the arc. New York is seventh in the league in three-point percentage, while the Hawks are fourth, thanks in large part to sharp shooter Kyle Korver. Anthony leads the Knicks with 27.5 points a contest, and J.R. Smith is one of the NBA’s top three-point shooters, and he averages 17.6 points and 5.2 rebounds a game.

The point-guard battle should be intriguing between Raymond Felton (14.2 points, 5.5 assists a game) vs. Teague (14.8 and 7.1). Harris has stepped up of late as well since Lou Williams’ season-ending injury.

Bettors need to keep an eye on the Knicks’ injury report, especially in Tuesday night’s contest against Miami. Both Tyson Chandler (neck) and Kenyon Martin (strained abdominal muscle) are expected to return, but they may not be at 100 percent. That would give the Hawks the edge in the basketball odds with a solid frontcourt of Al Horford (17.5 points, 10.2 rebounds a game) and Smith (17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds).

Free Pick — The Knicks have moved to third in the Eastern Conference and are only a ½ game back of the Indiana Pacers for second. The Hawks are clinging to the fifth spot, and have a legit chance to get home-court by moving into fourth (one game back of Brooklyn). The Knicks get the edge in this contest, though, thanks in part to their perimeter shooting, which was on display in the last meeting. The Hawks are 28th in the NBA in 3-point defense and are only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. The Knicks have not had a problem on zero days rest, either, going 9-6-1 ATS while scoring 103.1 points a contest. This one should be high-scoring, but the Knicks should keep rolling against a Hawks team that hasn’t played its best against the best — Atlanta
