NBA Odds – Denver Nuggets to Defend Home Court against the Clippers
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
A pair of second place teams are set to collide against the NBA odds at Bookmaker Sportsbook on Wednesday night when Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers pay a visit to the Mile High City to battle the Denver Nuggets.
Playoff ramifications will be aplenty on Wednesday, April 18th when the Los Angeles Clippers (37-23, 31-29 ATS) and Denver Nuggets (33-27, 31-29 ATS) close out their 2011-12 NBA odds season series; tip-off from the Pepsi Center is set for 9:00 ET on NBA League Pass.
Chris Paul and his Clippers teammates have a huge game set to go on Monday at home against the Western Conference leading Oklahoma City Thunder. They’ll take to their home hardwood for that one winners of three in a row (2-1 ATS) after taking care of business against the aforementioned Thunder, Timberwolves, and Warriors; the 112-104 home win and non-cover came up short of covering the closing 13-point spread to snap their two-game NBA odds win streak at two in a row. The three wins moved them 1.5-games in back of the Lakers who currently sit atop the Pacific Division standings.
Since dropping three in a row to Indiana, OKC, and New Orleans, Head Coach Vinny Del Negro’s squad has turned its intensity level to max output. Because of that, the Clippers have won 11 of their L/13 overall games (9-4 ATS) to snag the Western Conference’s 4th overall seed; Memphis trails them by 1.5-games and holds the #5 seed. LA will invade Denver winners in four of their L/5 both SU & ATS on the road to move to 15-14 SU & ATS away from the Staples Center. LA has gone 17-11 SU against the 28 teams they’ve faced within the Sagarin Ratings Top 16; Denver’s #12.
Denver will enter Monday night’s crucial road test with the Houston Rockets having won six of their L/10 overall hardwood clashes (5-5 ATS). Last time out, they held serve at home to score the 101-86 win and cover as 3.5-point favorites moving them to 19-12 SU & 13-18 ATS as a host on the year. Rookie Kenneth Faried continued his exceptional play posting 10 points and 11 rebounds to tally a double-double for the third time in his L/4 games played, while guards Ty Lawson and Arron Afflalo combined for 40 points to help lead the Nuggs to victory.
Denver currently sits in second place of the Northwest Division but trails the Oklahoma City Thunder by 11-games. Still, Head Coach George Karl’s squad sits within the Western Conference playoff picture currently in the #7 seed a half-game in back of #6 Dallas and one-game ahead of the #8 Rockets. The Nuggets currently rank 12th on the Sagarin Ratings behind the Mavericks, and have only managed to go 8-12 SU against those ratings Top 10 teams; the Clippers check in at #6.
NBA Odds Prediction – The Nuggets will be out to even up their season series with the Clippers after LA pulled out the 109-105 outright win as 5.5-point underdogs back in late January; Denver answered that with a 112-91 outright win as one-point underdogs at the Staples Center a couple days later. That road win “Lob City” tallied snapped their nine-game losing streak in the Pepsi Center, and it might even find themselves favored at tonight’s tip. With that the case, all the value resides with the home team who still has much to gain in winning as many games as possible so as to qualify for the second season; LA looks to be a lock already to do so. Denver’s been a stellar dog on the road (26-9 ATS L/35), but not so much as a pup up to four-points (0-4 ATS L/4). It’s high time for them to erase that bagel in the win column and do themselves a favor by earning a solid home win against a top notch opponent.
