If the Chiefs are going to seriously get back into the playoff picture, they need to beat the NFL wagering odds in this one. They enter this week two games back of the Jets, Tennessee Titans, and Cincinnati Bengals for the last Wild Card spot in the conference, and they are also two behind the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders in the AFC West. With both the Raiders (@ Green Bay, vs. Detroit) and Broncos (vs. Chicago, vs. New England) playing brutal schedules over the next couple weeks, this is a golden opportunity for KC to get back in it.

It wasn’t the prettiest effort in the world, but the Chiefs got the job done on the road in the Windy City last week, pulling off the big upset on the NFL gambling odds by taking down the Chicago Bears 10-3. The only touchdown of the game came on a Hail Mary pass at the halftime gun, as QB Tyler Palko found Bears LB Brian Urlacher, but it ended up getting deflected into the charitable arms of RB/WR Dexter McCluster for what proved to be the winning score.

Palko nearly went the distance, going 17-of-30 for 157 yards and that one score, and he again did a nice job taking care of the football. The newly signed Kyle Orton came in for one play, but he hurt his hand on the flea flicker and didn’t return to the fold.

The Jets were behind the Washington Redskins for a good chunk of their game on Sunday, but they were able to pull off their second win in a row by a 34-19 margin. Now, they clearly control their own destiny, and there might not be a game left on the remaining schedule in which they aren’t favored.

Still, we have a hard time backing Mark Sanchez on the NFL sportsbook odds. He only completed 59.4 percent of his passes last week, marking the fourth straight game in which he has failed to complete more than 60 percent of his passes, and he only threw for 165 yards. The team needs a passing game to beat these Chiefs for sure.

NFL Odds Prediction – The Chiefs have played a whopping seven straight ‘under’ games, and we just don’t see how they are going to get into a shootout in this one unless the Jets do most of the scoring. That being said, unless it is New York’s defense or special teams doing the damage, we don’t see how this one is going to threaten the closing ‘total’.
