The San Diego Chargers host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1 of NFL preseason action Thursday. Seattle signed top WR Sidney Rice from Minnesota and he’ll be re-united with QB Jackson who also comes over from the Vikings. Seattle’s offensive line is bigger and more talented this season, but note that all five starters are playing together for the first time, and the Seahawks are not going to play top RB Marshawn Lynch too much in this NFLX betting contest.

The lockout has affected the training time for many players and continuity will be key in the early preseason games. San Diego was able to retain many of its top primary players while adding some key pieces to a veteran core. San Diego has a solid offensive line and great continuity and depth, so the running game should perform well even without RB Ryan Mathews (strained leg muscle).

The wide receiver combination of Malcolm Floyd and Vincent Jackson should produce early and the Chargers have great talent and depth at wide receiver. All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates will see very limited action with a sore foot. The Chargers kicking game boasts one of the best combinations with Nate Kaeding and punter Mike Scifres.

Seattle is going through an overhaul on its defensive line and those changes will take time to come together with timing, speed and adjustments to coaches and other defensive players.
