Much has been made about the fact that the Raiders have traded for QB Carson Palmer from the Cincinnati Bengals. Yes, there’s no doubt that Palmer will be taking over as the team’s starting quarterback in due time, but Head Coach Hue Jackson knows that he won’t end up in the game much, if at all this week against Kansas City.

Palmer hasn’t taken a snap in a game in nearly a full year, and he has an entirely new system to learn in Oakland. If there is a bright spot for those trying to make NFL wagering picks down the line with the Raiders though, it is that they have a bye week next week, and Palmer is relatively familiar with Jackson’s system thanks to the time that the two shared together in the Queen City.

That being said, it’s still only up to QB Kyle Boller to get the job done. Boller has only completed 57 percent of his passes for 100 yards in relief this year, and we don’t expect to see all that much out of him. If the Chiefs can find a way to bottle up RBs Darren McFadden and Michael Bush, there is a real chance for this to be a bloody game.

What we have to remember about the Chiefs is that they hit their “bye” last week on a high. They’re a dangerous team for making NFL betting picks on, as they have scored 50 points in their last two games after scoring just 27 in the first games combined. QB Matt Cassel has put together some decent weeks, and WR Dwyane Bowe is finally playing like a Pro Bowler again.

That being said, this defense has still struggled to stop two bad offenses, those of the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings, and that came after allowing a total of 89 points in the first two games of the year combined against the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions.

NFL Betting Picks – The Chiefs are 7-1 ATS in their last eight visits to Oakland, and in fact, the road team has done quite well in this series. Visitors have won eight out of nine dating back to December 2006, and the underdog has covered eight games in a row in this series.
