Better is expected out of Gabbert and third stringer QB Todd Bouman (who only went 2-of-10), but the status of both QB Luke McCown (who has a knee injury) and Garrard are both up in the air this week.

The Jags have a real defensive problem that stems all the way back into the last month of last season. They allowed at least 31 points in three of their final four games, and it is clear that this side of the ball is going to be an issue on the NFL betting odds all season long this year as well.

Atlanta was beaten by the Miami Dolphins last week at home 28-23, but we know that it was good enough to win that game. If not for a punt return for a TD, odds have it, the Falcons would have proven victorious on the NFL wagering odds.

QB Matt Ryan looked sharp as always, throwing for 90 yards and a TD in limited action, but what really impressed us was the fact that both QB John Parker Wilson and QB Adam Froman, both of which are fighting for positioning on the depth chart this year, played so efficiently. No, neither was fantastic, but the two combined went a respectable 18-of-32 for 156 yards. The bugaboo came in the form of INTs, as both were picked off once.

NFL Odds Picks - We just don’t see how the Jags are getting all that much better this week against Atlanta. This is a team that has never really been all that sharp in the preseason, and unless Gabbert really takes a huge step forward in the days to come, he won’t be able to beat the Falcons by himself.
