Last week’s dominating 28-0 win against the Raiders set the stage for this crucial midseason showdown. Kansas City’s split its two home games to date getting steamrolled in Week 1 by Buffalo while toppling Minnesota 22-17 as three-point dogs in Week 4.

Kansas City pounded the rock with the duo of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones a year ago, and then sat back and played decent enough defense to finish the season with a +9 turnover margin. Over the course of their current winning streak, they possess a +5 turnover margin and have only given up an average of 13.7 PPG. If the defense can step up and frustrate the Chargers ground game in this Week 8 Monday Night Football betting closer, the probability of Rivers beating them through the air is not as good considering he seems to be a bit off in 2011 and they picked him off twice in their Week 3 battle at Qualcomm.
