The second half of the 2011-12 season is shaping up exactly like the last few seasons for head coach Rex Ryan’s Jets who are currently playing their best ball of when it’s needed most. Though the visiting Kansas City Chiefs made it interesting through one quarter of play at MetLife Stadium last week, New York flexed its muscles in the second quarter and posted 21 unanswered points to allow the team to secure its second straight win and pointspread cover. The Jets stonewalled the Chiefs ground attack ultimately forcing Tyler Palko to try and beat them through the air. It didn’t happen, as the Jets limited him to 295 yards and a score with an interception and cruised to the 37-10 home win and cover as near 11 point chalk.

The NFL betting odds triumph was the team’s second in a row after they went into Washington the previous week and handed the Redskins a 34-19 defeat as field goal favorites; the triumph moved NY to a perfect 2-0 SU & 1-1 ATS against the spread  versus the NFC East this season with the other win coming against Dallas at home way back in Week 1. The Jets hit the road for the seventh time this season with 2-4 SU & ATS records beating Buffalo and Washington, while falling at Oakland, Baltimore, New England and Denver.

When the 2011-12 regular season wraps up, the Philadelphia Eagles could go down in NFL history as one of the most underachieving teams ever. Before the season started, upper management made a plethora of big moves that put this supposed “Dream Team” together, which had many equating the team’s makeup to that of the Miami Heat when Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh formed a South Beach trio. That said, the Heat actually made it to the NBA Finals while the Eagles need to at the very least win each of their final three regular-season games and get some help from other teams in the NFC just to qualify for the playoffs.

Head coach Andy Reid’s squad surprised many last week when it went into Miami and handed the Dolphins a 26-10 outright defeat as three-point underdogs; Miami had won four of its previous five heading into the matchup. Though QB Michael Vick hardly shined in his return to the field after a three-game absence completing just 50% of his passes for 208 yards with a 1/1 TD/INT ratio, the defense simply locked down the Fins offensive attack limiting it to just 204 total yards while forcing three turnovers and sacking Matt Moore and J.P. Losman a combined nine times.

NFL Odds Pick – Philadelphia has owned the Jets of late winning each of the teams last five meetings (4-1 ATS) with the last confrontation coming back in 2007. Though the Jets enter amidst a three-game winning streak, the competition hasn’t been all that tough (Buffalo, Washington, Kansas City). You can get away with not being able to stop the run or get pressure on opposing quarterbacks against those teams, but not when faced with the prospect of containing speedsters Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy. Philly has only put forth one solid effort at home this season (DAL), but look for them to put forth crisp efforts on both sides of the ball and take it to a Jets team that we don’t think is all that good en route to covering their seventh straight Week 15 matchup.
