The Bucs and Vikings both have some major problems to contend with this year offensively, and though Week 1 was a week in which a ton of games surpassed the ‘total’, this is a game where the NFL betting odds have just been overcompensated.

We’ll start with the Bucs, who had 14 points and less than 250 yards in the first 55 minutes of their game against the Detroit Lions last week. Sure, they marched down the field and scored a TD with 1:35 to play, but it was against a prevent defense, and a very questionable Detroit prevent defense at that.

We also know that Head Coach Raheem Morris is going to try to establish a lot more of a running game against the Vikes than he did against the Lions. RBs LeGarrette Blount and Earnest Graham only had a combined 11 carries for 28 yards, and neither had a carry for more than nine yards in Week 1.

On the other side of the field, we know that the Vikings are committed to running RB Adrian Peterson to beat the NFL wagering odds as well. AP touched the ball 18 times for a total of 104 yards against the San Diego Chargers in last week’s loss.

There is a question about how comfortable QB Donovan McNabb really is with this offense. He only attempted 15 passes, many of which were in the fourth quarter with Minnesota trailing. To make matters worse, only one pass went for more than 12 yards, and he only had a total of 39 yards on seven completions with one TD pass and a pick.

The Vikings also played some respectable defense on the road against a formidable San Diego offense, though the Bolts did end up putting up 407 total yards and 28 points on the board. Don’t kid yourself when you analyze the NFL sportsbook odds though, as this was only because the offense had the ability to hold the ball for just over 22 minutes in the game.

NFL Odds Predictions – The Bucs have led bettors to a 7-2 record towards the ‘under’ in their last nine games played on field turf. However, regardless of what all of the numbers say, we just love the matchup for a low scorer in this one. Don’t be shocked if this one doesn’t come anywhere close to the posted number.
