With Chicago’s offense gaining some much needed confidence last week against their division rival, the Saints defense better be on red alert after it was gouged in every way imaginable against what looked to be an unstoppable force otherwise known as the Packers offense. When last Thursday night’s NFL gambling opener concluded, the Saints found themselves on the short end of a 42-34 decision after rookie RB Mark Ingram was stuffed at the one-yard line.

It certainly was a tough loss to swallow considering how well the Saints offense performed. Brees tossed for 419 yards and three TDs, but the Saints defense and special teams gave up numerous big plays that allowed Green Bay to hold onto the lead throughout the game’s entirety. “I was proud of the way we hung in there and fought back,” Payton said. “There will be a lot of things on tape that we’ve got to clean up with this first game.
