No matter where you are in the Eastern Time Zone, stop what you’re doing and head on over to Bookmaker Sportsbook for the most up to date NFL betting options for Sunday, October 16th, as the Pittsburgh Steelers look to keep the ball rolling against the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars. CBS will provide television coverage from Heinz Field starting at 1:00 ET.

Pittsburgh enters Week 6 as a heavy -12 point favorite over the woeful Jags while the O/U sits at 40.

Head coach Jack Del Rio did not officially say that he was speaking for his team, Jacksonville’s front office or its fans, but his post game comments after Cincinnati left town with a 30-20 win last Sunday summed up the general consensus around Northern Florida. “Pretty crappy feeling right now,” Del Rio said. “Simply not acceptable on a lot of fronts. Just put it on my shoulders. I’m not doing enough. We can’t have breakdowns like that at the end of the game. … It’s unacceptable.”

After last year’s 8-8 finish, the Jags released starting quarterback David Garrard in the offseason, making way for rookie Blaine Gabbert to eventually take the reins from Josh McCown. Sure enough, Gabbert’s number has been called and no one’s responded. Jacksonville ranks last in the league in passing yards while running back Maurice Jones-Drew tries to carry the load offensively; MJD ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards. If it wasn’t for the winless Colts, Jacksonville would be sitting in last place in the mediocre AFC South.

Jacksonville is 1-4 in the standings and 1-4 against the NFL gambling lines this season while the ‘under’ is 4-1. Unfortunately, the Jags are also 0-4 ATS in both their last four games overall and their last four games as a road underdog. Jacksonville is also 1-4 ATS in their last five October contests.

So much for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger being injured! Sure, Big Ben was milking his busted left foot and was seen hobbling around the field before last Sunday’s game against the visiting Titans, but once things got underway, the two-time Super Bowl winner threw for 228 yards and five touchdowns in the Steelers’ 38-17 win. “I told ya, I was just faking it,” a jubilant Roethlisberger said after the game. “I’m a wimp.”

Many doubted whether Big Ben would play against Tennessee just as many doubted whether running back Rashard Mendenhall would see action as well. Mendenhall dressed but did not play due to a hamstring injury, paving the way for Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer to combine for 156 yards on 26 carries; Dwyer accounted for 107 on 11 runs. Pittsburgh’s defense also sent a message to the rest of the league. Playing without three starters, the Steelers held Tennessee’s Chris Johnson to just 51 yards on 14 carries while sacking quarterback Matt Hasselbeck on three occasions.

Pittsburgh (3-2) is only 2-3 against the NFL betting lines this season while the ‘over’ sits at 3-2. The Steelers are, however, 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Week 6 contests. The ‘over’ is 4-1 in the two teams’ last five meetings in Pittsburgh.
