Defensively, the days of LB Shawne Merriman and DB Antonio Cromartie are long since gone, and we challenge you to name four members of this starting unit. No? You can’t?

There’s a reason that this San Diego outfit proved to be the most disappointing last year on the NFL futures lines, busting out of the playoffs even though it was as high as a 1 to 5 favorite to win the AFC West.

Minnesota is considered the worst team in the NFC North this year, especially after losing QB Tarvaris Jackson and WR Sidney Rice to the Seattle Seahawks. Still, we think that this team is an underrated bunch with a ton of players coming back to the fold aside from this.

Adding QB Donovan McNabb absolutely can’t hurt. QB Brett Favre finally looked like the game passed him by last year, and McNabb’s struggles might have been a product of his disagreements with former Head Coach Mike Shanahan.

As always, RB Adrian Peterson is the favorite on the NFL prop lines to be the leading rusher in the league, and we know that he could rumble for 2,000 all purpose yards if he is called upon enough.

For all of the problems that this defense had last season, this was also a unit which held five of its last six opponents to 21 points or fewer, something that not many can say, especially with an offense that was this bad.

NFL Lines Picks – This is just a whole heck of a lot of points to be laying for the Bolts, who, in our estimation, just aren’t all that great. Remember, San Diego has shown a knack for starting slow under HC Norv Turner, so take the points with the Vikes and don’t be shocked if they prove all of the naysayers wrong and pull the Week 1 upset!
