When you think of the Giants and the Falcons, you think of two teams that really can shoot it out. There is some great justification for that as well.

Michael Turner finished the year ranked No. 3 in the league in rushing with 1,340 yards. He has been known to run the ball 30 times in games when necessary, and Head Coach Mike Smith has remained committed to the ground game quite a bit this season to reach this point.

That being said, the Falcons have their best chance of beating the NFL playoff odds when Matt Ryan and the passing game are at their best. Roddy White wasn’t able to stretch the field by himself, but Julio Jones was drafted for just that reason. It was a move that paid off big time for the Falcons. He finished the season with 959 yards on just 54 receptions, giving him one of the best yards per catch averages in the league at 17.8. He has scored six TDs in his last four games, and he has had at least one catch of 40+ yards in three of his last four games and in six of his last nine.

Atlanta beat the NFL betting odds this year because White, Jones, and Tony Gonzalez all ended the year ranked in the Top 35 in receiving, something that no other trio in the NFL can claim.

And of course, there is the Giants’ passing game. Eli Manning came up just short of 5,000 passing yards this year, and he has a remarkable set of receivers as well. Beating the NFL gambling odds became a lot easier when Victor Cruz became such a reliable target. He had over 1,500 receiving yards and averaged a whopping 18.7 yards per reception; the best mark in the league!

NFL Odds Prediction – The ‘total’ in this game has dropped all week from 49 all the way down to 47.5, and it is falling further at a number of sportsbooks as low as 46.5 already. We think that that number is only going to continue to dip, especially knowing that the ‘under’ is 5-1-1 over the course of the seven meetings that these teams have had since 2000.
