Despite Carolina falling 28-21 to the Cardinals in Arizona, head coach Ron Rivera and the Panthers may just be onto something. “The last time I lost a game was Navarro Junior College,” Newton said. “What do you want me to say, it feels great? It is not a comfortable feeling for me.” Newton was extremely humble in his feat and his winning attitude will make for a hopeful season in Charlotte, even if it takes a couple of games to get things going. With weapons like wide receiver, Steve Smith, and tight ends Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey, Newton will have plenty of targets; Carolina’s defense now needs to rise to the challenge.

Carolina (0-1) also fell to the NFL gambling odds last Sunday (0-1 ATS) but the ‘over’ did earn a victory (1-0). Carolina, however, is just 1-4 ATS in its last five games as a home underdog and 0-4-1 ATS in its last five Week 2 games.
