You’re not going to find a more difficult game to handicap the NFL betting odds than the ones where the Steelers face the Ravens. These two teams are essentially mirror images of one another, and the end result has been nine straight games separated by nine points or fewer.

Pittsburgh is going to try to get a quick jump on this season with the play of QB Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben probably won’t use WR Hines Ward as much this season, but WR Antonio Brown and WR Emmanuel Sanders are really starting to impress. As always, WR Mike Wallace has rounded into one of the top pass catchers the league has to offer.

The running game might take a hit this year if RB Rashard Mendenhall doesn’t catch a bit of a break, as he toted the rock 324 times last season and has carried it over 600 times as a rusher and a receiver over the last two years.

Baltimore’s offense looks just about the same. A new target in WR Lee Evans has those betting on the NFL wagering odds salivating, as he and WR Anquan Boldin could both be in for big years catching the ball from QB Joe Flacco. Flacco doesn’t have the same sort of experience as Big Ben does, but the former Delaware Blue Hen has always been calm in the pocket and will make his share of plays.

This could be the year that RB Ray Rice really takes off as well. He has now accounted for over 2,500 rushing yards and nearly 1,300 receiving yards over the last two seasons, and he now has the best fullback in the league in Vonta Leach blocking for him. Leach sprung RB Arian Foster to the rushing title last season. Not bad for a man who was an undrafted free agent, eh?

And as always, these two defenses are why the teams are always favorites on the NFL Super Bowl odds. Pittsburgh locked up LB Lawrence Timmons in the offseason, while Baltimore is expecting the likes of LB Sergio Kindle, DT Haloti Ngata, and the returning DB Dominique Foxworth to pick up the slack should veterans LB Ray Lewis and S Ed Reed fall off just a bit.

NFL Odds Predictions – The underdog is 6-2-1 ATS over the course of the last nine meetings in this series, and Flacco’s never gotten the best of Roethlisberger when the two started against one another. With all of these games being so close, we have no choice but to take the points. Pittsburgh is probably just slightly the better of these teams, and even if it doesn’t win, losing by less than a field goal is good enough for us.
