NCAAF Betting Online:
Week 9 of the CFB odds season opens up with a Big 12 slugfest from Kyle Field on Saturday, October 29th when the Texas A&M Aggies (5-2, 2-5 ATS) host the Missouri Tigers (3-4, 4-3 ATS) for the second year in a row; kick-off from College Station is set for 12:00 ET live on FX.
NCAA Football Betting Odds
Missouri Tigers (+11.5) -110
Texas A&M Aggies (-11.5) -110
Over/Under 61.5
Mizzou took the field as TD home underdogs to the now 3rd ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys last Saturday in Columbia. After the Cowpokes bolted out to a 21-3 lead just seconds into the second quarter, the Tigers cut the lead to seven at the break (24-17) and looked the part of a team capable of pulling the CFB betting odds upset. That said; a scoreless third quarter did them no favors whatsoever and they went on to fall by a 45-24 final count ultimately putting an end to their 10-game home winning streak.
Gary Pinkel’s squad is very young, led by QB James Franklin and RB Henry Josey; both sophomores. Though Franklin rushed for 55 yards and a score and threw for 184 yards and a tuddy, he also threw three interceptions; two of which occurred with the Tigers well into OK-State territory. Josey averaged 5.5 YPC en route to churning out 138 yards on the ground last week. For the Tigers to have any shot of competing, Franklin will have to be more precise throwing into the Aggies 120th ranked pass defense (335.4 YPG) considering the run “D” has limited opponents to an average of just 79.9 YPG (#5).
Texas A&M only has one home loss on its resume this season; a 30-29 defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma State Cowboys who battled back from a 20-3 halftime deficit to pull off the shocking one-point win. That defeat was followed up with another second half blowup at “Jerry’s World” against Arkansas, but since then, the Aggies have won three straight over Texas Tech, Baylor and Iowa State by an average of 16 PPG. Still, head coach Mike Sherman’s kids came up short against the closing CFB odds in two of those three contests to fall to a bankroll depleting 2-5 ATS on the year.
Though it choked a solid lead against the Cowpokes away at home, the Aggies have taken care of business as hosts thus far beating SMU, Idaho State and Baylor by the aggregate score of 138-55 while covering two of the three contests. The offense ranks out amongst the best in the country led by QB Ryan Tannehill who’s thrown for 2005 yards and 15 TDs to just six interceptions. He’s complemented by one of the best RB tandems in the country in the forms of Christine Michael and Cyrus Gray (1353 yards combined). He’s also got a pair of fantastic pass catchers in future NFL star Jeff Fuller and Ryan Swope; A&M’s receiving leader. The 522.6 YPG chewed up by this unit ranks 7th best in the nation, but the 415.3 YPG (#84) the defense has allowed thus far has allowed for better opposition to hang with them.
CFB Odds Prediction – Mizzou snapped a string of three straight won by the home team in the recent series by going in front of the “12th Man” and handing the Aggies an embarrassing 30-9 defeat last season. The road team has covered five of these teams L/7 overall confrontations. The Tigers have covered five of their L/7 both off a SU loss and as a road underdog of 10.5-points or greater. Missouri’s defense will surely be tested versus the Aggies stout offensive attack, but as long as it doesn’t kill itself with turnovers like last week, they should be able to exchange blows in College Station and hang all the way through.
