The San Diego State Aztecs will look to secure their first ever victory over the TCU Horned Frogs when the Mt. West rivals square off in CFB betting action at Bookmaker Sportsbook on Saturday night.

TCU entered its 2011 campaign off the best season ever in the short history of the football program going 13-0 and beating Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, the Horned Frogs only returned eight starters from that team, and because of it, head coach Gary Patterson’s squad has struggled against stiffer competition thus far. Though it fell in OT to SMU last week, TCU showed the kind of moxie to be successful the rest of the season battling back from a 17 point lead midway through the third quarter to force extra time.

The comeback bid was the second of the year put forth by the Horned Frogs who found themselves down 47-23 at Baylor before rattling off 26 straight points to reclaim the lead only to fall short in the last minute of play. QB Casey Pachall is in the midst of a fabulous CFB betting campaign having already thrown for 1179 yards and 13 TDs to just two interceptions. His efforts have TCU ranked 12th in the country scoring an average of 14.8 PPG, and he’ll no doubt love throwing into a SDST defense that’s allowing 8.1 yards per pass attempt, but the Horned Frogs might be better suited running up against their opponents rush defense that’s been gouged to the tune of 227.8 YPG on 4.65 YPC.

San Diego State was one of the better stories in all of college football a season ago, as the then Brady Hoke led Aztecs went on to win nine of their 13 overall games which included going to a bowl game for the first time in over a decade. Though Hoke bolted for greener pastures in Ann Arbor, head coach Rocky Long inherited a squad that returned 13 starters which included stud QB Ryan Lindley and RB Ronnie Hillman. Unfortunately, Lindley’s production has tapered off due to a very green cast of wide receivers, but Hillman has held his own rushing for 606 yards and eight TDs.

The Aztecs have won seven of their L/8 home games, and enter this spot off a bye after suffering their first loss of the season against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 4. TCU has had this teams number winning all six of the previous meetings, so you can bet your bottom dollar that SDST’s coaching staff will have this team ready for what the Horned Frogs are to bring with them to beautiful San Diego for this CFB betting Mountain West clash. Whether it translates into a win remains to be seen.

CFB Betting Prediction – As already relayed, this series has been as one sided as it can get. These teams have met each of the last six seasons, and TCU has won each and every game (3-3 ATS). Though TCU’s defense is a much lesser version from a year ago, it matches up well with SDST due to its inability to pass the ball effectively. On top of that, the Horned Frogs are a perfect 5-0 ATS following each of their L/5 SU defeats. Look for TCU to keep its winning streak in the series intact and for points to be put on the board in bunches.
