The CFB odds in Mountain West action pick back up in Week 11 of the college football season on Saturday, November 12th, 2011 when the TCU Horned Frogs (7-2, 4-5 ATS) invade the “Smurf Turf” to battle the Boise State Broncos (8-0, 4-4 ATS); kick-off from Bronco Stadium is set to go live at 3:30 ET on Versus.

As expected last week, TCU had its hands full with a very game Wyoming Cowboys club up in Laramie, and because of it, the Horned Frogs grossly failed to cover the closing 19-point CFB betting odds in the 31-20 road win. Still, you have to come away impressed as the Cowboys had that game circled yet TCU still came away with the double-digit victory. The triumph improved head coach Gary Patterson’s kids to 3-1 SU & 2-2 ATS away from Fort Worth. Though they currently sit atop the Mountain West standings, a loss here would see Boise State leap frog them and send them to a lesser tiered match-up once the bowl season comes around.

TCU can come at you in a variety of ways. If you don’t shore up your pass defense, QB Casey Pachall has exhibited the ability to light you up through the air. If you have a porous run defense, the trio of RBs Waymon James, Ed Wesley and Matthew Tucker will no doubt run circles around your stop unit. That train of thought is what TCU will most likely have entering this colossal match-up since the Broncos have been stout in defending opponents passing games (#5 at 162.5 YPG) but a bit porous in defending the run (#53 at 140.4 YPG).

Boise State remained in the top 5 of the BCS standings after sleepwalking its way to a 48-21 non-covering road win (-42) at UNLV last week. QB Kellen Moore got his work in completing 58 percent of his passes for 219 yards and five TDs before making way for back-up Joe Southwick to get his mop up duty in. The Broncos senior gunslinger became the winningest quarterback in college football history with the win surpassing Texas’ Colt McCoy – he checks in at 46-2 SU overall heading into this showdown with the Horned Frogs.

The Broncos have not been the automatic covering ATM machine that they’ve been in the past entering this spot with an even 4-4 mark against the closing CFB odds. They’re yet to tally the win column ATS at home even though they got the best of Tulsa, Nevada and Air force by the aggregate score of 108-57 – Boise averaged being nearly a 29-point favorite in those games. Their balanced scoring attack (#7 at 43.9 PPG) will look to the air in this one with TCU allowing opponents to pass for an average of 225.2 YPG via the pass (#61) while giving up just 123.4 YPG on the ground (#32).

CFB Odds  Prediction – The last two meetings between these programs were tough defensive minded battles with Boise State winning 17-10 in the Fiesta Bowl back in 2009 and TCU pulling out a 17-16 win in the Poinsettia Bowl the year before. Look for more points to be put on the board in this one as neither defense is as good as those previous versions.

Saturday will mark the first time TCU will have gone off the betting board as underdogs since they traveled to Clemson back in Week 3 of the 2009 season, so don’t look for them to take too kindly to that notion! Boise State will be tough to beat here considering it hasn’t lost at home since 2005, but the Horned Frogs have the weapons and self confidence to go into the Broncos house and give them a real challenge. They’re 9-3-1 ATS their L/13 as underdogs and could pull off the shocker provided they don’t get killed in the turnover battle.
