The fourth season of the Bo Pelini regime looks to be right on course with the club a perfect 4-0 SU heading into the program’s first ever gridiron match-up as a member of the Big 10. Though the Huskers are unblemished in the outright W/L department, it wasn’t until last week that they secured their first pointspread cover of the season in Laramie where they pounded the Wyoming Cowboys 38-14 as 21-point road chalk.

QB Taylor Martinez and RB Rex Burkhead had monster games rolling up 490 total yards of offense. Burkhead rumbled for a career-high 170 yards and two TDs, while Martinez completed 12-of-21 passes for 157 yards and a score; he also rushed for 37 yards and a TD as well. The Huskers offense currently ranks 13th in the country scoring an average of 42.8 PPG and checks in with the 8th best rushing attack that’s chewed up an average of 272.5 YPG.

The problem in the early going has been on the defensive side of the ball where the team ranks in the middle of the pack both against the run (#56 at 133.2 YPG) as well as the pass (#63 at 216.5 YPG) while giving up an average of 22 PPG (#48). Thankfully, DT Jared Crick will be back in the college football betting odds mix along with LB Lavonte David and CB Alfonzo Dennard; the trio is yet to be on the field at the same time this season.

The Badgers are the reigning Big 10 co-champs and many expect them to go BCS bowling once again come the New Year. Could there be a better opponent or venue for the Huskers to visit in their first road test as the new member of the conference? We think not!

Wisconsin has simply torn apart each of its first four opponents en route to a perfect record and stellar mark against the closing numbers. That said; you have to question the opposition as UNLV, Oregon State, Northern Illinois and South Dakota might have all suffered similar fates had they lined up against the Cornhuskers this college football betting season as well.

Still, you can’t just dismiss what’s going down in Madison since Wiscy’s offense has simply been unstoppable led by transfer QB Russell Wilson. His arm has given the Badgers a run/pass balance quite unlike any seen at the college level in quite some time. Coach Brett Bielema’s offensive attack currently ranks amongst the top 30 in total yards (#8), passing yards (#27), rushing yards (#13) and points scored (#6). The defense has only surrendered an average of 8.5 PPG, but again, the competition has been very weak at best and Nebraska will present its toughest challenge to date.

College Football Betting Prediction – Look for this one to be a whole heck of a lot more competitive than the game of the week that went down in Morgantown last Saturday night. Nebraska certainly has the speed and firepower to hang with the Badgers; even in front of what will no doubt be a wild and raucous crowd. Nebraska’s covered each of the L/4 times it went off the board dogged and is 6-2 ATS its L/8 road games. Look for points to be scored in bunches and for the Huskers to give the Camp Randall crowd their money’s worth before coming up just short.
