NCAAF Betting Online:
Both the Texas longhorns (7-4, 6-5 ATS) and Baylor Bears (8-3, 6-4 ATS) will be fighting for a better bowl invite when the in-state rivals go to war against the Big 12 Week 14 college football odds on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011; kick-off from Floyd Casey Stadium is scheduled to go live on ABC at 3:30 ET.
NCAA Football Betting Odds
Texas Longhorns (+2.5) -110
Baylor Bears (-2.5) -110
Over/Under 64
After going 5-7 SU and missing out on a postseason game for the first time under the Mack Brown regime, the 2011 regular season has to be considered a success for the Longhorns who already enter their season finale bowl eligible. Last week’s win at the gun on Thanksgiving against the Texas A&M Aggies was certainly one of the high points of this season, but it will be up to the coaching staff to ground their young Longhorns outfit heading into today’s match-up with the upstart Bears.
The defense has more than held its own this season limiting opponents to just 297.5 overall yards per game (#9) and an average of 21 PPG (#32). However, the offense has been the Achilles Heel throughout the entirety of the 2011 college football odds season as it’s been hit or miss every passing week. On Turkey Day, QB Case McCoy only threw for 110 yards on 16-of-27 passing with the lone TD pass coming via a gimmick play. The sophomore will really have to be on top of his game here tonight to take advantage of a Baylor defense surrendering 471.2 YPG (#114) and 36.7 PPG (#111) to allow for his squad to match points with the Bears potent offensive attack.
You have to give it up to Head Coach Art Briles and his staff. Since taking over the reins in Waco, the Bears have won four, four, and seven games over the course of their first three years at the helm. Baylor snapped its six-year bowl drought last season when it went on to play Illinois in the Texas Bowl. Even though it got beat, the Bears returned 14 starters with nine of them coming on the offensive side of the ball. With a healthy QB Robert Griffin III also returning, Baylor looked primed and ready to have a huge year offensively.
That’s exactly what has transpired since the Bears earned a thrilling 50-48 decision over TCU at home in their 2011-12 season opener. The team then went on to post 48 points in a shut out win over Stephen F. Austin, and followed it up with a 56-31 decision over Rice; the Bears covered the college football betting odds with ease in all three contests. Then the conference slate opened up and Baylor went through some rough patches, but since getting killed at OKST (59-24), the Bears have won each of their L/4 (3-1 ATS) last beating the Oklahoma Sooners 45-38 the last time they took to their home turf a couple weeks back.
College Football Odds Prediction – Up until last season, the Longhorns mopped the floor with the Bears winning every meeting dating all the way back to 1998 and posted a 7-5 mark against the closing number. However, Baylor put an end to that dastardly losing streak last year when it went into Austin and came out with the 30-22 outright win as 7.5-point underdogs. Now they’re short chalk to win their second in a row over UT, and we believe RG III and the offense will be up to the task of seeing this one all the way through. Baylor’s covered all six of its home games played to date and we fully expect lucky #7 to come to fruition Saturday afternoon.
