The San Diego Chargers enter tonight’s battle with the Jaguars in very poor form having dropped each of their last six games both straight up and against the spread. Since then, the Chargers have plummeted within the AFC West standings and currently bring up the rear of the division along with the Kansas City Chiefs. He knew going in that the Jaguars needed to qualify for the playoffs for him to keep his job, but with the Jaguars managing just three wins in 11 tries heading into this week’s game, Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver decided to pull the trigger and vacate the nine year coach of his position. He also sold the franchise to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan and tabbed defensive coordinator Mel Tucker as the interim coach. General manager Gene Smith was also inked to a three-year contract extension.

Rookie QB Blaine Gabbert was benched late last week in the Jags 20-13 home loss to the division rival Houston Texans. It is unknown at the time of this writing whether he or Luke McCown will lead the Jaguars offense in this Monday Night football betting tussle. Regardless, it might not matter who leads this wretched offense that’s managed just 250 total yards per game (#32) and an average of just 12.5 points per game (#32). It will once again be up to the Jaguars 5th ranked scoring defense (18.2 PPG) to keep them in the game and give them a chance to win it.
