The Denver Broncos (4-5, 4-5 ATS) will look to earn their first home win of the Tim Tebow era when they take on the New York Jets (5-4, 4-5 ATS) in pro football betting action on Thursday, November 17th, 2011 at Invesco Field; kick-off for this one is slated to go live on the NFL Network at 8:20 ET.

NFL Betting Lines
New York Jets (-4) -110
Denver Broncos (+4) -110
Over/Under 42.5

After rattling off three straight wins which included triumphs at home against Miami and San Diego followed by dominating the Bills in Buffalo, the Jets returned home to battle the division rival New England Patriots for first place in the AFC East. Oddsmakers forecasted them to avenge the Week 5 loss they incurred at Gillette Stadium, but shoddy play on both sides of the ball combined with a number of turnovers saw New York crumble in the second half en route to falling by a 37-16 final count last Sunday night.

The pro football betting lines defeat snapped Head Coach Rex Ryan’s squad’s three-game win streak against the closing pointspread, and more importantly, humbled the outspoken team in a big way. Now NY must hit the road where they’ve managed to win just one of their four lined games both SU & ATS. Thankfully, the Jets have shined vs. AFC West opposition of late going 4-1 SU & ATS their L/5 match-ups, so a win here looks to be highly plausible. They’ve already split against both Oakland and San Diego to date and have a date scheduled with Kansas City in early December.

Since making the transition to Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback, the Broncos possess a 3-1 record both SU and against the closing number. Their wildly popular and extremely religious field general led them to an unbelievable comeback at Miami in his first ever NFL road start, but he along with his squad was humbled in the greatest of ways when it returned home to battle the Detroit Lions in a game they lost 45-10 as short three-point underdogs. Then shockingly, Head Coach John Fox’s undermanned squad went into Oakland and scored the shocking 38-24 come-from-behind victory and followed it up with a dominating 17-10 outright win in Kansas City last week.

Though Tebow doesn’t possess the eye-popping stats of either an Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, he’s utilized his greatest gifts – toughness and a never say die attitude – to lead the Broncos to pro football betting wins in three of his first four professional starts. He almost led Denver back from a 23-10 hole against San Diego when he replaced Kyle Orton as QB1 in the second half. Unfortunately, he’ll be extremely up against the odds in this one without a healthy runner in the backfield, and his 44.8 percent completion percentage will make it awfully hard to get much done against what should be a determined Jets defense.

Pro Football Betting Prediction – Denver’s 3-2 both SU and ATS in these teams L/5 overall meetings, but it was the Jets that stole the 24-20 win in Denver in last year’s meeting. New York scored the go-ahead TD with just over a minute left to cash tickets for those that laid the 3.5-points with them. The Jets certainly don’t look to be the same team that lost each of the last two AFC Championship Games, but they still have enough on both sides of the ball to go into Denver and beat up a Broncos squad extremely limited on the offensive side of the ball. As long as QB Mark Sanchez doesn’t make boneheaded mistakes like calling timeouts too early or overshooting receivers directly leading to INTs, the Jets should be able to name the score in this one. If not, the Tebow mystique will linger for another week.
