The other aspect that helped the Giants win in a laugher came on the defensive side of the ball where DE Jason Pierre-Paul’s six tackles helped lead to shutting the Falcons offense out for the entirety of the game. QB Matt Ryan threw for less than 200 yards, and Atlanta was only able to generate a combined total of 247 yards. New York’s defense has gotten extremely healthy which bodes well for them in this spot considering it will be asked to limit the league’s top ranked scoring attack in the form of the Packers’ offense (#1 at 35.0 PPG). QB Aaron Rodgers already ripped them apart to the tune of 369 yards and four TDs in the team’s Week 13 clash at MetLife Stadium, so for the GMEN to have any shot in this one, the defense must continue to play at the level it has these last three weeks. Head Coach Tom Coughlin’s troops went 5-3 SU & ATS away from East Rutherford this season.

While the playoffs began last week, the defending Super Bowl champs got to take in all the action from the comfy confines of their living rooms and rest up for whomever they would get matched up against in the divisional round. That’s because Green Bay was simply the most dominating force the league saw this season winning 15 of their 16 regular season games while covering the oddsmakers closing number in 11 of those contests. When healthy, the offense was simply unstoppable as QB Rodgers went on to throw for 4643 yards and a whopping 45 TD passes to just six interceptions. When it was said and done, Green Bay racked up an average of 405.1 YPG (#3) with 307.8 of those YPG coming via the pass (#3).

However, it’s not as if the Packers don’t have their flaws entering this NFL playoff betting lines clash. The offense was very one dimensional, and it will need someone to step up in the backfield so as to alleviate the pressure their gunslinger will feel over the course of the game. The defense also leaves much to be desired. It checks in ranked dead last in the league in yards allowed (411.6 YPG) and gave up an average of 22.4 PPG (#19). That unit thrived on getting pressure and forcing turnovers over the course of their championship run a year ago. This time around however, Green Bay did take care of business in the turnover department (+24), but it only sacked opposing QBs 29 times (1.8/game). That said; Green Bay won all eight of its home games by an average of 18.8 PPG (7-1 ATS).

NFL Playoff Lines Pick – The first go round of this match-up in NY was littered with big plays and was very high scoring. Both offenses were locked in and both QBs had stellar outings. While the defenses made a couple of stops here and there, it was by no means enough to prevent either team from scoring with regularity. We’re looking for more of the same here as Rodgers and Manning go at it in a game of one-upmanship. The Giants were at their best away from home base all season long scoring nearly 1.5 more points than their seasonal average (24.6 PPG), but the defense also gave up 3+ points more per game as well. The ‘over’ cashed in five of their eight road games, and it’s come in four of the L/5 times they were dogged. The Packers played to high scorers in seven of their eight home tussles this season, and its 25-9 the L/34 times they were tagged home chalk. Weather won’t be an issue here in this irregular winter the Midwest has dealt with this season, so look for both offenses to put on a show of epic postseason proportions.
