The Cincinnati Bengals (7-4, 7-3-1 ATS) will look to avenge their earlier season loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3, 5-6 ATS) when the AFC North rivals collide against the NFL betting lines on Sunday, December 4th, 2011; kick-off from Heinz Field is set to go live on CBS starting at 1:00 ET.

NFL Betting Lines
Cincinnati Bengals (+6.5) -110
Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) -110
Over/Under 42

The upstart Bengals were served up a dish of humble pie after falling to both Pittsburgh and Baltimore in back-to-back weeks to fall into third place of the highly competitive AFC North. They did battle back at home against the Cleveland Browns to put an end to their two-game losing streak in Week 12, but Head Coach Marvin Lewis and his staff know wins against both the Steelers and Ravens have to be notched if in fact this team is to be taken as a serious Super Bowl contender out of the AFC. The first of those goals goes on Sunday at the “Ketchup Bottle” where the Bengals have dropped three of their L/4 visits both SU & against the closing NFL betting pointspread.

Regardless of how the rest of the season shakes out for the Bengals, the folks in Cincinnati have to be tickled pink over what rookie QB Andy Dalton and WR A.J. Green have done since donning the Bengals’ colors. Dalton has thrown for 2509 yards and 16 TD passes, and though he’s also thrown 12 errant passes, you have to be impressed with the moxie this kids played with stepping right into a starting role at the professional level. Green has looked more like a veteran than a rookie. He had already snagged a TD pass against the Steelers before getting knocked out of the game early with a knee injury in the team’s first go round. The Bengals stand 4-2 SU & almost a perfect 5-0-1 ATS in their six games played away from Paul brown Stadium heading into this one.

The Steelers might not be doing it pretty, but the defending AFC champs have still gotten the job done. Most recently, Head Coach Mike Tomlin’s squad went into Kansas City and handed the Chiefs an ugly 13-9 loss as 10.5-point underdogs. The NFL betting odds defeat dropped them to 5-6 ATS for the year and just 2-4 ATS away from Heinz Field. That said; they now return home to play amidst thousands of  “Terrible Towel” wavers where they’ve won four of five games (3-2 ATS) to date with the lone defeat coming in the closing moments against the hated Baltimore Ravens.

QB Ben Roethlisberger enters off an ugly performance in KC where he completed 21-of-31 passes for just 193 yards and a 1/1 TD/INT ratio. He completed nearly 64 percent of his passes for 245 yards and a score (1 INT) in these teams first go round, and with stud CB Leon Hall on the shelf the remainder of the season, he could be in store for another big game through the air provided Mother Nature complies. Hall’s absence allowed Cleveland’s Colt McCoy to throw for 151 yards and two TD passes last week, so expect Pittsburgh to attack the Bengals defense and look to WRs Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown, Hines Ward, and Emmanuel Sanders on numerous occasions.

NFL Betting Prediction – Since getting swept in these division rivals pair of meetings back in 2009, the Steelers have taken each of the L/3 meetings both SU & ATS to move to 8-2 SU & ATS in these teams L/10 overall clashes. That said; Cincinnati showed it’s very close in forcing Pittsburgh to start taking them seriously in these teams first meeting of the season. Dalton was without Green a majority of that game, and still, the Steelers had to fend off a late Bengals charge. Granted, Pittsburgh might be getting some healthy bodies back on the defensive side of the ball, but Cincy is 6-0-1 ATS its L/7 on the road and 4-0-1 ATS its L/5 following a pointspread defeat. They might not come out on top, but this one’s got last second field goal for the win written all over it!
