The Dallas Cowboys returned home from their disappointing Week 6 last minute loss to the New England Patriots to host the St. Louis Rams, and boy did they take their frustration out on the worst team in the league. Rookie RB DeMarco Murray got the fireworks started when he scampered 91-yards to pay dirt on his first carry to give the Cowboys the quick 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter. He went on to have a banner day rushing for a total of 253 yards on 25 carries en route to smashing a couple Cowboys rushing records – he broke Emmitt Smith’s 239 yard single game rushing record and also broke Tony Dorsett’s rookie record of 198 yards in a game. When the dust cleared, the Cowboys won by a 34-7 final tally and had no problem covering the 14-point closing NFL betting line.

With Philadelphia allowing opponents to rush for an average of 123.8 YPG on the year (#23), the former Oklahoma Sooner could be in store for another gargantuan effort. Having said that, the Cowboys defense will have to be up to snuff to remain competitive as the Eagles possess three of the most thrilling offensive playmakers in the game in the forms of QB Michael Vick, RB LeSean McCoy and WR DeSean Jackson. McCoy paces the league’s top running attack that’s churned out an average of 170.2 YPG, while Vick and Jackson spearhead the league’s 8th most potent air game (271.7 YPG). Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan’s defense will certainly be tested tonight!

Last we saw head coach Andy Reid’s Eagles, they saved their season by escaping Washington and toppling the injury riddled Redskins by a 20-13 final count as three-point road chalk. The win was only the “Dream Team’s” second on the year, and they enter this crucial Week 8 NFL betting showdown bringing up the rear of the NFC East. Shockingly, the Eagles have lost outright as favorites in each of their two home games played to date against the division rival New York Giants and San Francisco Giants. The chore gets no easier against what’s proven to be a much better Cowboys outfit than the one it faced a year ago.

Philly’s offense ranks right up there with New England and New Orleans in total yardage checking in at #3 with 441.8 YPG, as both its passing attack and ground game rank amongst the top 10. The problem has been the team’s inability to hold onto the pigskin (-8) and convert in the red zone (#25). The team has held its own in the secondary limiting opponents to 217.3 YPG (#10) but has been gouged on the ground as previously mentioned.

NFL Betting Prediction – This is an extremely tough game to call a final outcome in as both teams really need this win bad! Dallas enters on a high and has represented well in tough venues at the Jets, 49ers and Patriots, while Philly has yet to impress in front of the hometown faithful. Many believe the Eagles will now turn it on much like the Miami Heat did a year ago with a month’s worth of games under their belts, but we’re not buying it! When you can’t stop the run and you turn the pigskin over at a sickening clip, you aren’t going to win many games in this league.

Dallas has done a better job in both of those categories and has won each of its L/2 trips to the Linc. On top of that, the Cowboys have covered each of their L/7 times as an underdog, while the Eagles stand a poor 2-8 ATS their L/10 as a favorite (0-5 ATS L/5 at home). The kicker is the fact that the underdog has covered 10 of the L/14 in this recent series. Take the points with the ‘Boys and look for them to administer another death blow to the Eagles playoff chances!

So will the Cowboys cover their sixth straight vs. Philly in this Sunday Night NFL betting battle, or will the Eagles find a way to get the job done and end the losing streak?
