You can’t help but be impressed with the Titans overall body of work under the new regime. Sure, the opposition hasn’t been the greatest, but Tennessee has gotten the job done by playing hard-nosed defense limiting the opposition to just 14 PPG, while scoring an average of 22 PPG offensively.

Though last week’s game at Cleveland saw them cling to a one-point lead less than a minute into the 2nd quarter, the Titans went on to score the games next 24 points to put the game well out of reach. The 31-13 final score saw Tennessee win outright as one-point underdogs, with the ‘over’ cashing for the second time this season. RB Chris Johnson surpassed the 100-yard plateau for the first time in 2011, and QB Matt Hasselbeck spread the pigskin around while throwing for 220 yards and three TDs in the NFL betting lines triumph. The defense did give up over 400 yards of combined yardage, but only allowed the Browns to enter the red zone once.

If you’re a Steelers fan, you can’t be happy about how the start of the 2011 season has shaped up. Pittsburgh has been riddled with injuries in the early going, and now, QB Ben Roethlisberger joined the walking wounded when he suffered a sprained left foot in the late stages of last week’s loss against the Texans. Along with the injury to the field general, stud RB Rashard Mendenhall is listed as questionable for this game with a hamstring injury and his back-up, Mewelde Moore, is already listed as doubtful after suffering a high ankle sprain.

Those injuries only make the Steelers rushing woes even more magnified as their injury ravaged O-Line has only been able to open holes to the tune of 93.8 rushing YPG and 3.7 YPC. Not good when matched up against a Titans defense that’s allowed just 87.8 YPG at a measly 3.2 YPC. In effect, it will make the Steelers offense one dimensional and force Big Ben to throw into a Tennessee defense that’ s already picked off opposing QBs through its first four NFL betting clashes. Making matters worse for the Steelers in this spot is the fact that Chris Johnson might be rounding into form and Pittsburgh has given up a whopping 4.7 YPC to date and will be without the services of linebacking enforcer James Harrison.

These teams have met each of the last three seasons with the Steelers holding a 2-1 advantage after winning each of the last two; including last year’s 19-11 outright win as 6-point LP Field underdogs.

NFL Betting Prediction – Many will be quick to back the Steelers only laying a FG in this spot, but we won’t be one of the masses. You can’t help but be very much so unimpressed with what head coach Mike Tomlin’s squad has brought to the table thus far, while on the flipside, Tennessee has brought it every passing week save for Week 1 at Jacksonville. Pittsburgh has been a turnover machine (-10), while Tennessee checks in with a +2 overall turnover margin, and the Titz furious pass rush (10) should have no problems getting to a hobbled Roethlisberger that’s already been sacked 14 times through four games. With the underdog 7-1 ATS in these former division rivals L/8 overall confrontations, we see absolutely no reason why Tennessee can’t improve upon this moneymaking ATS streak with another cover.
