The black and blue division offers up a tasty rivalry in Week 3 when the Green Bay Packers pay a visit to Soldier Field to battle the Chicago Bears in NFL gambling action

NFL Betting Online:

The Chicago Bears (1-1, 1-1 ATS) always have their NFL gambling battles with the Green Bay Packers (2-0, 1-1 ATS) circled on the schedule, but Sunday, September 25th’s even more so considering it was their hated rivals to the north that ended their season in the NFC Championship game a year ago. Kick-off for this NFC North showdown from Soldier Field is set to go at 4:15 ET on FOX.

NFL Betting Lines
Green Bay Packers (-3.5) -110
Chicago Bears (+3.5) -110
Over/Under 45.5

The Packers entered the 2011-12 season considered to be the team to beat out of the NFC, and head coach Mike McCarthy’s bunch has done nothing to change anyone’s minds over the course of the first two weeks of the season.

The defense of their 2010-11 title began at home in Week 1 against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Though Green Bay needed to stuff the Saints on the one-yard line to preserve the NFL gambling odds victory, the Packers controlled that one from the opening kick. Last week was a different story however, as QB Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers shocked the reigning champs by getting out to a 13-0 lead before Green Bay managed to get on the scoreboard.

That said; once they did tally a score against the Panthers, it was all the defending champs from there as QB Aaron Rodgers carved the secondary up en route to throwing for over 300 yards, and the power running of RB James Starks made for the perfect compliment.

Unbelievably, the Packers got ahead of the closing 10.5-point NFL gambling line when Rodgers connected with WR Jordy Nelson for an 84-yard pass and catch with just over two minutes remaining in the game. The defense wasn’t able to preserve the front door cover though, as its prevent defense prevented Green Bay backers to ultimately cash their tickets.

Chicago’s Week 2 battle in the Superdome against the Saints was eerily reminiscent of their Week 4 battle against the New York Giants last season. You know, the one where QB Jay Cutler was knocked out of the game with a concussion after the offensive line surrendered nine freaking sacks in the first half!

Though the O-Line only gave up six official sacks last week, Cutler was hit a countless amount of times and hurried on just about every pass; he’s already been thrown to the turf 10 times on the young season. With G Lance Louis already out and nursing an ankle injury and 1st round draft pick OT Gabe Carimi dislocating his knee against the Saints, the Bears makeshift front wall is going to have a heck of a time keeping its QB upright against a Packers defense that loves nothing more than to rush the living heck out of opposing QBs.

Still, don’t let last week’s NFL gambling results cloud your judgment. We already saw the Bears come out and take it to an Atlanta outfit that everybody thought would cruise to victory back in Week 1. Chicago is a different team at home, and it knows how to compete against the hated Packers.

NFL Gambling Prediction – The Bears were blitzed unmercifully by Saints DC Gregg Williams last week even though the game was well in hand. Hopefully Bears OC Mike Martz will have made some adjustments throughout practice this week to counter the blitz packager Green Bay DC Dom Capers will throw at them. With that being the case, look for QB Jay Cutler to have success downfield as he throws into a Green Bay defense that’s ranks dead last in the league in passing yards allowed (400 YPG). On the flipside, QB Aaron Rodgers is going to be able to pick apart a Bears secondary that’s been torched through the air early and will be playing with a number of walking wounded. We never advise playing against multiple game winning streaks, as the ‘under’ has been a solid investment in this rivalry of late regardless of venue, but Sunday’s match-up looks to be of the barnburner variety.

Whether you plan on taking the points with the Bears or laying the chalk with the Packers for this historic rivalry, be sure to take advantage of the bevy of lines offered up for this NFL gambling match-up at Bookmaker Sportsbook.
