NFL Betting Online:
From East Coast to West Coast and across the Midwestern Plains, Bookmaker Sportsbook has you covered with the latest and greatest NFL betting odds for Friday, August 26th, and everyday throughout the 2011 season, including the preseason contest featuring the Colts and Packers from Lucas Oil Stadium. CBS will carry the live television broadcast starting at 8:00 ET as the Horseshoes look for their first exhibition victory against the defending Super Bowl champs.
The Packers enter Friday’s preseason showdown as nine point road favorites with the ‘total’ sitting at 39.
Is it time to play “what-if?” As in, what if Peyton Manning isn’t ready in time for the season? What if Colts owner, Jim Irsay, actually has a motive for the Tweets he fired off this week from Brett Favre’s home town of Hattiesburg, Mississippi? Regardless of why Irsay did what he did, the Colts continue to laugh everything off as they await the arrival of Manning, who has been on the physically unable to perform list since the beginning of training camp. Even backup quarterback, Curtis Painter, has dismissed Irsay’s words while he remains focused on the task at hand: stepping up in case Manning is in fact unavailable. “I never really have read much and I don’t follow too many things on [Twitter],” Painter said. “I kind of focus on myself and trying to put myself in the best position I can.”
Manning underwent neck surgery back in May; the procedure was the second Manning endured in the past 15 months. While Manning has never been one to remain sidelined for long, Colts head coach, Jim Caldwell, has not given any indication of if and when Manning will return to action. One thing is for certain, however: don’t expect to see number 18 suited up against the Pack on Friday.
Indy’s (0-2) back to back exhibition losses have the team sitting at 0-2 against the NFL betting odds this preseason while the O/U sits even at 1-1.
It’s hard to imagine the Green Bay Packers being even better in 2010-2011, but with a healthy lineup and a dangerous no-huddle offense, there is no telling what the defending Super Bowl champs can accomplish, which is bad news for not just the NFC North but the entire league. And what’s interesting is that the Packers are holding nothing back in the preseason; for proof, just ask the Arizona Cardinals.
After the visiting Cardinals tacked on consecutive field goals in the first and second quarter to build a 6-0 lead, Aaron Rogers, Jermichael Finley and Greg Jennings went to work. Rodgers led his team without a huddle for the duration of the second quarter and found Finley on three straight passing plays before hooking up with Jennings for a picturesque 20 yard touchdown; Green Bay went on to beat the Cardinals 28-20 in Finley’s first game back from a knee injury that kept him out of action for the vast majority of last season. Now if the team can just keep up the pace into the regular season, perhaps the harsh winters won’t seem too bad with such a hot offense.
Green Bay (1-1) evened up its preseason record last week and also scored its first NFL betting win of the year as well; the ‘over’ cashed in each of those contests.
