NFL Odds – Washington Redskins to give the folks in Big D a big Scare on MNF
Written by North Shore Sports, INC
Week 3’s edition of Monday Night Football takes us to Big D where the historic NFL odds rivalry between the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys will put pen to paper and write out yet another chapter.
NFL Betting Online:
The Dallas Cowboys (1-1, 1-0-1 ATS) will look to feed off the momentum built from last week’s improbable come-from-behind NFL odds overtime victory on Monday, September 26th when they welcome the hated Washington Redskins (2-0, 1-1 ATS) into Cowboys Stadium; kick-off for this MNF battle is set for 8:30 ET.

So far so good for the second year of the Shanahan era in the nation’s capitol. Though it wasn’t pretty, the Redskins improved to 2-0 last week after it battled back from a 21-13 deficit just minutes into the 4th quarter to pull out the 22-21 home win. K Graham Gano’s 34-yarder with just under two minutes remaining proved to be the game winner, catapulting the Redskins to the top of the NFC East standings at an unblemished 2-0.
Unfortunately, the one-point win wasn’t enough to satisfy those that backed the ‘Skins on the closing NFL betting odds, but after struggling to a 6-10 SU mark a year ago, Washington will take wins any way it can get them this season. QB Rex Grossman just came up short of posting back-to-back 300 yard games passing, and he could be in line for another big game through the air considering Dallas’ secondary is extremely banged up; the Cowboys currently rank 16th in the league allowing 223.5 passing yards per game.
Washington has been very stout against the run thus far limiting the Giants to 75 yards in Week 1 and the Cardinals to 93 yards last week; the unit currently ranks 11th in yards allowed (319.5 YPG) and 7th in points allowed (17.5 PPG). The onus will be on them to take advantage of a Dallas offense that enters this Week 3 divisional NFL odds clash extremely banged up at all the key playmaking positions.
In case you’ve been living under a rock the better part of the last week, you might not have heard about the Cowboys unbelievable comeback by the Bay against the 49ers. After leaving the game with an injury at the break, QB Tony Romo returned to the gridiron after it was leaked that he broke a rib earlier in the game. Looking to make amends for his poor play late in Week 1’s NFL odds battle against the Jets, the Cowboys field general blocked out the pain and helped lead his team to the miraculous OT win over the Niners.
Romo ended up having a monster game completing 20-of-33 passes for 345 yards and a pair of scores. And he did it all with the Cowboys ground attack mustering just 45 overall yards! Still, the three-point win was only good enough to push against the closing NFL odds, but those holding Dallas tickets down 10 in the 4th quarter were no doubt pleased just to get their money back.
Dallas’ defense was able to mask its injuries in the secondary against a quarterback the caliber of Alex Smith, but it will no doubt have its hands full with Grossman and his playmakers at WR tonight. The Cowboys allowed Jets QB Mark Sanchez to torch them for 335 yards and a pair of scoring strikes in Week 1, but DC Bob Ryan hopes the return of a healthy Terence Newman will help alleviate some of the concern.
NFL Odds Prediction – Dallas has won four of these teams L/5 overall meetings including the division rivals final meeting last season in which the Cowboys won 33-30 but the Redskins covered as 9.5-point underdogs. Washington’s cover improved the underdog to 21-6 ATS in these teams L/27 overall gridiron confrontations; it also moved the road team to 5-1 ATS the L/6 in the series. Regardless of the amount of points Washington is receiving in this spot, take ‘em, and don’t be shocked if it wins outright!
