It wasn’t pretty, but Stanford (10-1, 9-2 ATS) did rebound from its loss to Oregon by nipping California 31-28 last week. With that letdown game out of the way, look for an easier win in CFB betting this week over an overrated Notre Dame (8-3, 5-6 ATS) team on Saturday, November 26th at Stanford Stadium in Palo Alto, CA at 8:00 ET on ABC.

We just do not see how the Irish can keep pace with the high powered Stanford offense here after Notre Dame struggled to get by a lower-tier team from a weak ACC last week in Boston College 16-14, not even coming close to covering the 24-point spread on the CFB betting lines, and that game was at home no less!

Also, the Irish’s first experience vs. a Pac-12 team this year was not a pleasant one, as they lost 31-17 to USC in a game that was not even that close, as Notre Dame was outgained by 176 total yards. That game was also at home in South Bend, and to top things off, the Irish have not really had a quality win on the road this year, with their road wins coming at Wake Forest, Purdue and Pittsburgh.

Stanford was 9-0 both straight up and against the CFB betting odds this season before a home loss to Oregon two weeks ago dashed the Cardinal’s national title aspirations.

That put them in a big letdown spot last week vs. the Golden Bears, and while they failed to cover for the second straight week, at least they won the game a bit easier than the final score, as Stanford was once up by 15 points and still up by10 until California scored in the final seconds. Heisman Trophy candidate Andrew Luck completed 20 of 30 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

The key to this contest however should be the Cardinal running game. Stanford is averaging 209.0 rushing yards per game, and the Notre Dame defense has looked vulnerable vs. good running backs this season. The success of Stepfan Taylor and the other Stanford backs should then open things up for Luck to pick apart the Irish secondary later on.

Notre Dame has a losing 5-6 record in CFB betting as they are overvalued this season as usual, and outside of a home win over Michigan State early in the year, the Irish really haven’t beaten a good team all season. They were able to move the ball vs. a poor Boston College team last Saturday, but they kept bogging down in the red zone with their only touchdown coming in the first quarter.

They are now going up against an underrated Stanford defense that is allowing 20.9 points and 333.1 total yards per game, and that is including allowing 53 points and 387 yards to Oregon. Look for a safe Stanford home win here.
