UFC presents “The Phenom”, former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon to face Rich “Ace” Franklin in the main event of UFC 103. Also featured on the biggest MMA event to ever hit Texas will be perhaps the most explosive heavyweight battle of the year when one of the sport’s most feared strikers, Mirko Cro Cop, takes on Brazilian knockout artist Junior Dos Santos.

Rich Franklin at age 34 is a total superstar on the Octagon, one of the most famous fighters in the world, will make his return facing a fierce adversary like Belfort. The “Ace” has excellent striking skills, good conditioning and he’s a well-rounded fighter. His 88 kg and his 1.85 m makes him one of the best of his weight class as he has been for a very long time. In his last fight Franklin defeated Wanderlei Silva by unanimous decision in one of the best fights I have ever seen, that shows the kind of fighter he is, he has fought big names too like Ken Shamrock, Anderson Silva, Evan Tanner, etc. His record is 27-4-0 which means this will be a fight to watch over and over again since Franklyn is the smarter fighter and he will use that be beat Belfort by UD.

Vitor Belfort was born at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and at age 31 has an impressive record of 12-5-0 fighting huge names like Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Wanderlei Silva (won by KO) and the fierce Tank Abbott which he knocked out as well. He retired for many years but now he is back and back for good, he needs to get some good fights and this is exactly what he was looking for, he expects a very good ground fight since he’s is one of the best in the World on ground skills, also his hand speed is incredible but his real strenght and the skill he will use the most will be the submission, only by doing so he will be able to beat a more experienced and smarter Franklin.

UFC 103 Franklin Vs. Belfort Odds and Predictions

Another exciting night of fighting awaits this August 8th at Wachovia Center, PA. This will be the first time UFC travels to Philadelphia and it is expected to be a great event, let’s check who’s in and what are they bringing to the table …

The main event will be BJ “The Prodigy” Penn Vs. Kenny “KenFlo” Florian both very talented athletes and fighters.

BJ “The Prodigy” Penn born in 1978 at Kailua, Hawaii with a record of 13-5-1, weights 155 lbs (70 kg) and his height is 5′9″ which makes him a great welterweight. His strenghts are excellent submissions and overall strong standup technic, very powerful and explosive fighter. In his last fight he lost against Georges St. Pierre by TKO so he’s a little shaken up by that and he will be eager to prove that he still got the power to be holding a title.

Kenny “KenFlo” Florian born 1976 at Westwood, MA with a record of 13-3-0, weighs 155 lbs (70 kg) and his height is 5′10″ with the experience on his side. His strenghts are great jiu-jitsu technic and dangerous elbows and that is a very useful tool in tight situations and in my opinion it will be a rough and tight fight, lots of locks, submissions, chokes and more, elbows will be a key ingredient to this match.

Taking into consideration that Florian has won his last 6 fights looks a little to his side but his last fight was on november 15th 2008 and that is a while back so BJ Penn looks like a better overall option. MY PICK FOR THIS FIGHT WILL BE KENNY FLORIAN, HIS SKILLS ARE A LITTLE BETTER THAN PENN’S AND HE IS MORE EXPERIENCED.

UFC 101 Declaration Odds and Predictions

UFC brings us another night of exciting MMA night. This time will be a titanic battle between two giants, Lesnar at 6′3″ and 265 pounds against Mir at 6′3′ as well and 240 pounds. This event will be at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Nevada and it will be another classic UFC PPV night.

Brock Lesnar just started at UFC and he has been making a lot of noice at the heavyweight division. His record only shows 3 wins and one loss and his strenghts are incredible size, great wrestling ability and athleticism beyond comparison; he has knocked out good fighters too, he is scary when he is on the move and his punches are just like a hammer ready to do the damage, his power has no comparison, we will be able to see him pounding on everyone with no mercy, basically he is the most bankable star the UFC has for the future.

Frank Mir has alot more experience than Lesner, his record is 12 wins and 3 losses, his advantages are great submissions and an improved striking technic, this will be totally necessary if he wants Lesnar to at least fakes some concern, last time Mir defeated Lesnar with a Leg Lock and so far it has been the only loss on Lesnar career, the submission will the only chance Mir has against Lesnar.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, US 34 years ago and has an impressive record of 26-4 and 1 NC and his strenghts are excellent striking skills, good conditioning and he is considered a well-rounded fighter.

Wanderlei “THE AXE MURDERER” Silva fought and won at PRIDE, his skills are incredible and I am betting he will be blasting at Franklin all night long. He was born in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil but he fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada, his record at this moment shows 32-9-1 with 1 NC and his strenghts are striking power and technique, intensity, and a great world-class experience that makes him a suitable contender.

UFC 99 The Comeback Betting Odds and Predictions

Next Saturday May 23rd at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Nevada the UFC Light Heavy Weight Title will be disputed on the octagon by Rashad ”Suga” Evans and Lyoto ”The Dragon” Machida. Both fighters show great conditions to take the title home, let’s check them out

Rashad ”Suga” Evans, age 29 born at Niagara Falls, New York, USA but fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico holds a record of 18-0-1. The only draw in his MMA career was against Tito Ortiz and he has practically destroyed the rest of his adversaries, he won’t go down easily and his strenghts are Takedowns and Takedown Defense, he was also an All-American wrestler when he was in college.

Lyoto ”The Dragon” Machida age 30 born in Salvador, Brazil and fighting out of Belem, Brazil holds a record of 14-0-0 with an impressive win over Tito Ortiz. He’s a Shotokan Karate Brazilian Champ, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champ, and he has made all his adversaries look terrible, even weak and that in a weight class like this says a lot about a fighter, he is recognized already as a rising star at MMA and he is considered by his piers as an amazing fighter.

The prediction won’t be easy but I feel the half japanese-half brazilian Machida will be the winner by Knock out since he has the advantage of a devastating kick.

UFC 98 Rashad Evans Vs. Lyoto Machida Odds and Predictions

*Middleweight Title Fight

Analysis:  I had to go look it up because honestly I had lost count.  I’m talking about the number of times that Silva has defended his title and the answer is a whooping 7 times!!!  I mean this guy basically owns the Middleweight division and everytime I see him fight I feel sorry for his opponents and I can see the look in their eyes of “what did I get myself into” almost everytime.  On this night his opponent is a fellow Brazilian who specializes in submissions and will almost certainly try to take it to the ground as I don’t think he has the reach to fight it out on his feet with Silva, plus who in the hell would want to fight Silva on their feet.  All this guy does is knock people out, and he doesn’t with such finess that its scary…  I don’t think the young buck has what is takes to pull off the W, but if he can take it to the ground (which I highly doubt) then I think he can at least make a fight out of it and get through the first round or 2.  If he can’t then he will be waking up with a headache in the morning.  Based on value its not worth taking Silva at -500 and at +220 there is not enough incentive to throw down some fun money on Leites in the unlikely event that he connects in just the right spot to drop Silva.  So basically I would stay away from this one, but if you absolutely have to bet then you should throw it down on Silva, he is just to strong and has the reach to end Leites from a distance…

Analysis:  So the Iceman has been on bit of a slump lately losing 3 out of his last 4 fights including a brutal KO at the hands of Rashad Evens.  Rua is coming off a win from last January against from Mark Coleman, but he was a heavy favorite and this was to be expected.  This is a tough one to call, both fighters like to stand up and strike, but when it comes to the ground game I think Rua has the advantage and Liddell should be wary of it.  Honestly I think Chuck should have retired or just faded away after some pretty big losses, but he seems determined to show everyone that he is not over the hill yet (in UFC fighter terms) so you have to show some respect as the odds makers have obviously done favoring him at -185 which is not too expensive to lay $ on.  On the other hand there is some great value on a much younger and some (including I) would say, hungrier Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.  I think Chucks sheer determination and toughness will keep him in the fight, but if he gets sloppy and goes to the ground or pursues a reckless standup striking strategy he may find himself waking up on the mat after everyone has already left the building, AGAIN!!!  I would take the dog in this one, because I am no longer a believer in the Iceman…

My Pick:  Jackson definitely has the advantange as fas as experience goes with a record at 30-7-0 compared with Jardine’s 14-4-1.   They both have a similiar fighting style as Jardine actually trained at Jackson’s gym in preparation for his fight against the Ice Man Chuck Liddell.  I think that Jardine is out to prove he is not a fluke by beating his mentor, but the reality is that Jackson is stronger and tougher than Jardine and this should be a quick a match.  I think Jackson is sore about losing the title and wants to silence the critics.  Jackson by KO in the 2nd.

My Pick:  Gonzaga had early success in his career with a stunning KO of CroCop, but since then he hasn’t been very dominate.  This Shane Carwin guy is not very well known and the Heavyweight division is desperate for some new blood so perhaps there is an upset in the making.  There is definite value in Carwin at +135 and come time of the fight I think you could find it for an extra dime at +140.  Take the dog, I think Gonzaga is just an overhyped gorilla and catches one to the jaw and drops.

UFC 96: Jardine vs Jackson Betting Odds and Picks

Main Event: UFC Welterweight Title Bout

Georges “Rush” St. Pierre -175 (risk $175 to win $100)
BJ “The Prodigy” Penn +135 (risk $100 to win $135)

My Pick:  Almost all of Penn’s losses have come by way of decision including his previous loss to St. Pierre so you can bet that he wants to end this before the final bell.  I don’t think Penn has the height to go blow for blow with the French Canadian who is well practiced in standup striking and getting inside his reach will be very difficult and Penn could end up blocking punches with his head.  Instead I think that Penn will want to take it directly to the ground where his lack of height is an advantage and he can manuver more easily.  St. Pierre is well aware of this and will want to defend against the take down shoot and try to knock BJ out with a strike.  The last match went to a decision so both fighters know each others tactics fairly well, it will all come down to who can control the rythem of the fight and force the other guy out of his comfort zone.  The money line spread is pretty balanced and at less than 2 to 1 St. Pierre seems cheap so I say take him, but if your a BJ Penn fan then wait until Saturday night before you bet him as I think the line goes up and you get a better payoff closer to fight time.�

UFC 94: St. Pierre vs Penn 2 Betting Odds and Picks

It’s the ultimate event of the year with the original Ultimate Fighter, Forrest Griffin defending his title against “Sugar” Rashad Evans. Then the Ultimate Fighter coaches face off as Interim World Heavyweight Champion, Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira takes on former heavyweight champion, Frank Mir. Plus, two of the hardest hitting light heavyweights go toe-to-toe when Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva battles former light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

My Pick:  Evans is undefeated and coming off of a flawless knockout of Chuck Liddell.  He has proven that he is fast enough to standup and catch opponents with the KO as well as agile enough to go to the ground and look for the submission.  Griffin is no doubt as tough as they come, but I don’t knwo how he is going to react to Evans’ standup attack.  Everyone doubted Evans in the Liddell fight and he was a huge underdog, only the wise such as myself got down on the 2 -1 money and cashed in on the KO.  The line is much more realistic this time and at even money he is still a steal.  It won’t be easy, but I think Evans keeps the undefeated streak alive tonight.  Bet the farm on Evans.

My Pick:  Frank Mir is coming back into his own after coaching the latest season of Ultimate Fighter and at more than two to one you have to at least put some fun money down on him as is the case with any hand to hand fight.  Minotauro has weaknesses, I can remember a few years ago when he was all but finished off by Heath Herring who in a block headed move allowed Nogueira to get up after an astounding jab that leveled him and opened the door for a KO, but he pissed it down his leg in the end and Nogueira narrowly escaped with the decision.  Point is that you can’t lay money on -360, its not worth it and the guy has a soft jaw.  Mir will should try to standup and punch it out with him instead of going to the ground, but we will see.  If they box, I think Mir levels him.  Take the dog, the payoff is too big to ignore.
