NCAA Week 9 Georgia Vs. Florida Odds and Predictions

Georgia Bulldogs travel to Jacksonville to play No.1 Florida Gators in a very expected clash between them. SEC East Conference challenge between the first place of the division and the third spot, sounds like it will be a great game and it’s the perfect chance for Florida to proclaim themselves as the most powerful team in the nation.

Georgia Bulldogs thought this was going to be a good season and they were far from the truth. Their record of 4-3 and Conference Record of 3-2 reflects just that. Georgia has been really irregular thru the season, they have not been able to defeat a nationally ranked team yet and I have my doubts they will be able to defeat the No.1 ranked team in the country. QB Joe Cox will be in charge of the snaps and he is the only chance Georgia has against the Gators, bulldogs need their QB to throw a hell of a game like he has been doing or better if they want to make the Gators at least nervous. Helping the QB by air the Bulldogs will have WR A.J. Green and TE Orson Charles, they both have played great but they will need to go the extra mile in this game, the team really needs them. On the grown RB Richard Samuel and RB Caleb King will try to go thru Florida’s defense, both average about 4 yards per carry so this could be very useful on the first half of the game. The key for the game is DEFENSE the whole game, if they don’t stop the Gators they will have a lot of problems trying to catch up with them on the scoreboard.

No.1 Florida Gators have been perfect up to this point. They are on first place of the SEC East division and the SEC Conference as well, they are No.1 ranked team in the nation by BCS, Associated Press and Coaches, that has to be one of their best years. Their record of 7-0 and Conference record of 5-0 means a lot and this could also mean another conference challenge in their pockets if they get their QB to commit and make it happen in the field. QB Tim Tebow’s numbers for 2009 are down from his 2007 Heisman Trophy winning season, but to hear the senior quarterback tell it, he’s quite content with just winning ball games, “I feel like I’m the quarterback of a team that’s 6-0, and I’m pretty excited about that. That’s all you can ask for.” Now will this be the attitude of a true winner, he should be polishing the trophy not just looking to see what happens, this is unacceptable in every way. The air will be controlled by WR Riley Cooper and TE Aaron Hernandez, they have had kinda slow season due their Qb’s development but they can shine with their own light on this game as well, both are superstars and they will be a good alternative on the field next saturday. Now Florida’s most valuable tool is the running game no question about it, they will use it like there is no tomorrow and they will control the clock with it. RB Jeffery Demps is expected to return to practice on tuesday with a sprained neck injury, he is the sould of the running offense and even QB Tim Tebow can run the ball like a regular RB so this is exactly what Florida will do, they will run the ball as many times as possible, Georgia will have a hard time trying to stop them.

Analysis: As predicted, Michigan State out-muscled the UConn Huskies in what some would call a beat down…and then my boys from Villy pissed it down their legs against the Tar Heels. Villanova was actually playing better defense and overall looked like the better team, but when they got down by 10 they started throwing up desperation shots instead of taking their time and setting up a play. I mean when you shoot 3 for 25 in baskets then its pretty hard to put together a W. Anyways, the stage is set and its down to the final 2 in Detriot where the Sparty’s will enjoy an obvious homecourt advantage, but they will need more than that to pull off the win. As we saw Villanova was able to exploit some weaknesses in the Tar Heels and caused alot of turnovers and when I say alot I’m talking about 12 turnovers against what some would say is the best transition team in the country in UNC. So at least Michigan State knows what they can and can’t do, while they do lake the speed of Villanova, they have a deep bench in the rotation and are every bit as tough as the Heels. So what is going to be the deciding factor? The Spartans are going to need to slow down UNC’s transitions and prevent a streak of 3 point shooting or its going to be a long day for them. With the spread as high as 7.5 points its really hard not to take them, which is my pick for this game. It’s not that Michigan State is going to win even though I hope they do, the pick is that they will cover the spread so take it before it goes down, because trust me this line is moving down and I mean fast! 2009 NCAA Championship: Michigan State vs North Carolina Betting Odds

Villanova vs North Carolina Betting Odds

I just want to mention that in the last couple posts I have been touting a few teams to upset, well unfortunately only 1 team stepped up and they are the Villanova Wildcats. I actually have them in my bracket to go to the championship game so you already know what my pick is, but I screwed up alot as well. Louisville got bitch slapped by a more motivated Michigan State and North Carolina made short work of an Oklahoma team that could not get anything going. Below are the betting lines for this years March Madness Final Four and my picks:

Villanova Wildcats
North Carolina Tar Heels -7.5 160

My Pick: North Carolina is proving to be the power house that everyone touted them to be. No matter how much I hate the favorite I can’t deny that they definitely have the tools to get the job done, but I think the Wildcats can at least give them a run for their money. I would take the points, but wait a while because I think the general public will load up on the Tar Heels and push the line up so I think it best to wait and then grab Villy at +8, 8.5.

Michigan State Spartans
UConn Huskies -4 135

My Pick: UConn is looking tough, but then again they always do, I had picked Memphis to make the regional final against them and I think that would have been a better matchup, but both Missouri and Memphis Tigers pissed it down their legs and couldn’t hold off UConn when it mattered. I like the Spartans because of the way they slapped Louisville around, they are big and physical and I think the way they play their game could be a little intimidating to the Huskies. I will admit that I think UConn is faster in the paint so it will come down to defense and I think the Spartans have what it takes. Take the points now because I think there will some wise guy money coming in on Michigan State to drive the spread down.

2009 March Madness Sweet 16 Betting Odds and Picks

Don’t take it too hard, because now that the brackets are set for the Sweet 16 you not only have a chance to make some quick $$$ on all of sweet 16 matchups, but you can also bet the updated odds to make it to the Final Four as well as Odds to win the 2009 NCAA Championship and reclaim your honor by bragging to all your friends that you have it right all along. So while they get all giddy over some cheap office pool, you can bring in the big bucks with the right picks that have some long value.

GamblersPalace.com will be offering game odds, 1st & 2nd halfs as well as game props for all of the Sweet 16 matchups so there should be no lack of options if you are looking to get some action down. The teams left in the big dance along with their odds to win the whole shabang are as follows:

Arizona Wildcats +4200 (risk $100 to win $4200) - No one thought these guys would make it this far and I highly doubt they give Louisville anything they can’t handle, but if your a Wildcat faithful and still drunk and absolutely have to make a play on them only throw down $10 to win $420.

Connecticut Huskies +540 (risk $100 to win $540) – While I do have UConn going to the Elite 8 I have put all my trust in Memphis to serve them up a big fat loss.

Duke Blue Devils +1200 (risk $100 to win $1200) – This is a tough pick. In my bracket I like Villy to pump them this round and with the odds pretty similar and the spread only favoring Duke by 2.5 I got to go with my gut and believe that there is a reason Duke did not receive all the hype they usually do.

Gonzaga Bulldogs +1500 (risk $100 to win $1500) – This may sound crazy but I am going with my boys from Northeastern Washington over UNC for the lone fact that there has got to be an upset of a #1 seed sooner rather than later.

Kansas Jayhawks +2200 (risk $100 to win $2200) - I thought these guys were the defending champs??? They almost got booted in the first round. Don’t waste the time or money even thinking about them. Michigan State will make quick work of them.

Louisville Cardinals +320 (risk $100 to win $320) - There is still significant value at +320 and I thought that they should have been the overall #1 at the beginning of the tourney, with the same odds as UNC to win it all you have to throw something down on them, because after they beat up Arizona you can expect these odds to fall through the floor. Get the value while you can!

Memphis Tigers +540 (risk $100 to win $540) - “Your my boy BLUE!!!” As in Memphis blue, not only will they thump Missouri, but they are shoeins for the Final Four. The value is enough to garner a medium bet with a nice payoff.

Michigan State Spartans +1800 (risk $100 to win $1800) – Why are the Spartans getting no love??? They will ultimately lose to Louisville, but show some respect because these guys got game.

Missouri Tigers +2600 (risk $100 to win $2600) – Hmmm…Tigers vs Tigers, I think I am going with a Basketball school over a Football school. GO Tigers!!! Memphis that is….

North Carolina Tar Heels +320 (risk $100 to win $320) – I will never be able to convince anyone that UNC is going down against Gonzaga, but I am saying it anyways. It would be good for College Basketball and REALLY good for my bracket.

Oklahoma Sooners +1200 (risk $100 to win $1200) – I did like Oklahoma, but not against Cuse. Don’t even bother.

Pittsburgh Panthers +480 (risk $100 to win $480) - I didn’t think these guys would make it this far and be the first #1 seed to fall. Now it seems they have caught a second wind and are making a case, but the value on them is not enough warrant a bet from me, but I know all you Terrible Towlies are still high from the Superbowl will be pulling for them so go ahead and waste your money.

Purdue Boilermakers +3500 (risk $100 to win $3500) - Purdue? Nuff said…

Syracuse Orangemen +1200 (risk $100 to win $1200) - The Orangemen are my dark horse to make trouble in the Southern Region and while I don’t like them to win the tourney, I do like them to make the final four.

Villanova Wildcats +1800 (risk $100 to win $1800) - I am shocked by this. Villy is alot better than they are getting credit for and actually I have them going to the Final Four which is going to take some work, but I knwo they have it in them. The value on this is too good to pass up and it deserves at least a $20 fun bet with returns of $360.

Xavier Musketeers +4200 (risk $100 to win $4200) – I think the saying goes, “All for one and none for Xavier!” If you have $5 left in your account and you can’t stand having a balance then throw down $5 to win $210.

2009 March Madness Final Four Betting

The seedings have been set and the big dance is about to get underway. All eyes will be on the 4 number 1 seeds of Louisville, UConn, Pittsburgh, and North Carolina to go far in the tourney. If you believe as I do that there is nothing better than a huge upset in a high profile event such as the March Madness tournament then you might want to get some future bets down on odds to make it to the Final Four. There are a couple juicy juicy numbers out there for sports bettors looking for value on the tourney this year. Below are the current Odds for a few of the favorites as well as some picks from me.

The method I use is fill out a couple different brackets with different results for a few key games that I think could swing either way such as 1st round matchups like Boston College and USC or Oklahoma State and Tennessee just to name a few. Then I compare my results and every time it seems I have a combination of the same 6 teams so when you look at the value of each team you can make some easy money if you have the foresight.

ODDS TO REACH THE FINAL FOUR:

Pittsburgh Panthers +175

UConn Huskies +155

Louisville Cardinals +135

North Carolina Tar Heels -125

Memphis Tigers +175

Syracuse Orangemen +560

Villanova Wildcats +560

Michigan State Spartans +360

My Picks: First of all I would never pay vig on a futures bet so the Tar Heels are out, plus Bobby Knight had some things to say about them that makes me think they are ripe for an upset. Louisville is a shoe-in as there only real test on the way there will be Michigan State so take your pick between the 2 but it is guareenteed money just make sure you hedge yourself correctly to cover the money on the loss. Memphis and UConn are both playing for that spot in the West Region and its a safe bet that they play each other in the Elite 8, but Memphis is the better team and they have a higher value to offer. My 2 dark horse picks which really aren’t dark horses, but just are not getting the respect and consideration they should are Villanova and Syracuse. I have no doubt that one of these teams will make it so with $100 paying $560 you can cover all your teams that get upset or piss it down their legs.

At +450 the Wildcats bring a ton of value in a region where the top seeds are suspect.

Odds to make the Final Four: As of now the UNC Tar Heels are the overall favorites to make the Final Four at -125 (risk $125 to win $100), but paying vig on a future is a suckers bet and I don’t see the value in it. A couple of teams that represent real value are; Syracuse Orangemen +560 (risk $100 to win $560), Memphis Tigers +175 (risk $100 to win $175), and last but not least are the Louisville Cardinals at +135 (risk $100 to win $135).

Odds to make it to the 2009 NCAA Championship Game: The straight up biggest value is on Louisville at +360 to make the Championship game. I cannot stress enough that a Rick Pitino team is to be FEARED!!!

Odds to WIN the 2009 NCAA Championship Game: The value is again on Louisville at +440 (risk $100 to win $440) but for this future bet I think you spread the money around between seeds 1 – 3. Fill out your brackets with a couple different scenarios and go from there.

This Sunday tickets will be punched and hearts will be broken as the 2009 NCAA March Madness tournament gets underway with Selection Sunday and the official seedings for the tourney. Many teams have already secured their spot in the tourney including 14 automatic qualifiers from smaller conferences including Gonzaga, VCU, Morehead State, Cornell (representing the Ivy League) and Siena who always seems to manage to get in. Despite the fact that we are right in the middle of Conference tourneys this week there are a few teams that have pretty much already secured No. 1 seeds. These include Pittsburgh, UConn, North Carolina and Louisville, however this can change very quickly depending on the outcomes of the tourneys this week, but all 4 teams are all already in the tourney anyways. Regardless of the seedings they receive they are arguably 4 of the toughest teams in the nation and you can expect at least one of them to be in Detroit this year for the Final Four.

It’s Sunday morning and I’m hungover and a little disappointed. 1. I didn’t get to see Memphis put the whooping on UCLA as I predicted seeing how they just aren’t ready yet and this has been a long time coming for Memphis who were not going to be denied by a buncha pretty boys from southern California, and 2. I didn’t get to see UNC totally fall apart against those scrubs from Kansas thus ending any remote chance that I could have won my pools(DAMNIT!!!) although I will say is that its a fitting end to the season, total blowouts! Now as for the reason I was not witness to this very undramatic display of talents is because my boy Tommy got married last night, congratulations! and needless to say everyone got wasted and jumped in the pool. Now down to business:

NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Kansas
Memphis -1.5 145.5 Over/Under

My Pick: I read a review of the UNC/Kansas game and it sounds like UNC in all their arrogance went out there and didn’t take Kansas seriously until they were down by 20!(Idgets) So the point is that I don’t think Kansas is as good as UNC made them look. The spread is tight at 1.5 and I think its actually a bargan, I think that will move up to -2.5 by tomarrow night, take Memphis and give the points right now! before it moves up on you. Memphis is gonna win it all and I’m the only one in my pool that picked them and I still won’t win because of UNC losing. Poetic justice I guess……

2008 NCAA Championship Betting Odds and Pick

2008 NCAA Final 4 Betting Odds and Picks

Its the first time in March Madness history that all 4 #1 seeds have gotten to the Final Four and this spells big trouble for the bookies who are now over exposed on futures wagers. But all that aside lets take a look at both games along with their spreads and totals as well as pick the winners.

Saturday April 5th 6:07pm est.
San Antonio, TX

UCLA
Memphis -1.5 134.5
My Pick: It is a huge surprise that Memphis would be favored in this matchup seeing as how everyone has been riding UCLA’s jock the entire tourney, but when you consider how Memphis has been playing you gotta believe that the Tigers got what it takes to get the job done. John Calipari has his boys looking good and its been a long time coming for this team, they are the same team that has been getting to at least the Elite 8 for the last 3 years and they have been knocking on the door every year only to come up short in the end. Its different this year, they are older, more experienced, and most importantly they have been playing solid the last 3 rounds and making shots when it counts, careful not to get too excited and blow it (something they are famous for). All American Chris Douglas-Roberts is doing his job and putting up points while seniors Andre Allen and Joey Dorsey are providing the leadership and experience to hold the team together. They have a great chance of beating UCLA who many would consider an upset regardless of the spread. On the UCLA side of the spread I guess I have to give them credit even though I am a staunch UCLA hater, they have been getting the job done in a big way and living up to the dynasty status that all those primadonnas in southern California love to embelish. Right now the Bruins are riding the Love train and for good reason, this kid is a freshman and he averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Phoenix rounds, hes just that good, but at the same time I think lack of experience and having a week to think about it could jinx him. Memphis has the leadership to do it and they are on fire right now, UCLA only has the adrenaline they are running off which will come down by Saturday and if they start turning the ball over then the Tigers are going to make them pay for it. In a spread this close its tough to make a call because I do beleive it will be a really close game and as we have seen this year alot of things come down to the buzzer. I gotta take Memphis in this one, but I would wait because the spread will most likely come down to a pick or UCLA will be favored by Saturday, so if you like UCLA take them now, it won’t last long, while if you like the Tigers then you should wait until Saturday to make the play. I like Memphis in this because I need them for my pool, but I honestly think they are the better team and played a tougher schedule in the tourney to get to this point.

Kansas
North Carolina -3 159.5
My Pick: Kansas is in real trouble here! They narrowly escaped an upset by Davidson who missed a buzzer shot that would have put them over by 1 point. Kansas really didn’t play that tough of a division to get here and in fact I thought they would fold up in the second round. They do have an excellent offense and were ranked #2 in total offense suring the regular season, but they haven’t brought the pain this tourney and constantly allow opposing teams breating room to come back on them, the point is that they don’t make me believe… UNC on the other hand is doing exactly what was expected, but I’m not too happy about that home court advantage, anyways there is not alot of bad things you can say about UNC, they just go out and win and thats all their is to it. Tyler Hansbrough has continued to be the work horse for the Tar Heels and he is leading the top offense in the country they just don’t miss. I can’t see them losing this game, no way no how. Give the 3 points in this, UNC is waay too hot for Kansas right now.

So there you have it, I’m looking for Memphis and UNC in the Championship game with Memphis pulling off a spectacular upset over the Heels. NK NK NK. 2008 NCAA Final 4 Betting Odds and Picks
