We left the All-Star MLB game and another defeat for the National League, it seems like this next half will be a lot more interesting than the first half, teams are now concern about their situation and they will do as much to qualify as they possibly can, let’s analize some of the teams in the run …

On the American League a few surprises and some other teams that are just part of the scenario every year. On the East we have Boston Red Sox as usual with a record of 54 – 34 and the New York Yankees right behind them 3 games away, it has been a tough year for both clubs but these are the teams that belong on the big dance, we can count on them at playoffs. On the Central we have Detroit Tigers with a 48 – 39 insufficient record and behind them Chicago White Sox just above .500 with a record of 45-43 and 3 games behind the Tigers; in this division anyone could take the lead since is the weakest one on the American League, Minnesota Twins is breathing down their necks and the are just 4 games away from the leader. On the west LA Angels with a solid record of 50 – 37 walks almost alone, right behind them Texas Rangers 2 games away but not looking as strong as LA, the Wild card is the only possible way they have. So my three picks for the divisions are BOSTON RED SOX, DETROIT TIGERS and LOS ANGELES ANGELS, the Wild Card race winner NEW YORK YANKEES.

On the National League the race is always tighter, the National league will win the World Series one more time that is my prediction NOW. On the East Philadelphia Phillies looking solid with a great record of 49 – 38 and Florida Marlins behind them 5 games away with a poor record of .505 or 46 – 45, it looks like philly will go to the playoffs without any problems. On the Central division which is the toughest Saint Louis Cardinals run the whole thing with a record of 49 – 42, behind them Milwaukee Brewers 2 games away, Chicago Cubs 3 games away and Houston Astros 3 games away as well are the top three contenders for the Wild Card race. On the West and weakest division in the National League we have Los Angeles Dodgers with a more than amazing record of 56 – 33, the highest in the whole league and San Francisco Giants behind 6 games away but with a record of 49 – 39 which put them at the top of the Wild card Race. My picks for the playoffs are PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ON THE EAST, ST. LOUIS CARDINALS ON THE CENTRAL AND LOS ANGELES DODGERS ON THE WEST BUT THE WILD CARD RACE WILL BE FIERCED AND MY PICK WILL BE MILWAUKEE BREWERS.

FOR A CLOSER LOOK TO THE ODDS ON MLB GAMES AND OUR BONUS PROMOTIONS CHECK US OUT AT GAMBLERS PALACE SPORTSBOOK & CASINO.

Current Odds to Win the 2009 World Series:
*Note, all prices are moneylines so if you bet $100 you win the amount listed after each team. ex. +8000 (risk $100 to win $8000)

Washington Nationals +8500

Analysis: It seems like like the Yankees are the favorite every year because they spend the most money on the best talent, so you would think they would always have the best team, but I find that big salarys make for big egos and that field is just not big enough for all the egos on that team. Throw in the A-Rod steroid scandal and who knows what kind of circus to expect from the pin stripes this year. Both the Rays and the Phillies are considerable favorites, but does anyone really expect either team to repeat last years performance? Whenever you have early futures odds to look at the value is all in the longshots. Sure you want to get a little down on the outright favorites like the Yankees and the Redsox maybe even the Cubbies, but you want to take a look at those reasonable high value teams like the Dodgers at +2100 or the even the Angels at +1000. One team that really stands out are the Colorado Rockies at +4200, this is a sweet number on a good team that may surprise some people. Even if you don’t want to bet $100 on them you can still bet $10 to win $420, you can’t tell me that isn’t a sweet payoff that is well worth the risk.

Game 1:

Phillies(C Hamels-L) $ Line -107 Total o7.5 Ev Runline -1.5 +150
Tampa (S Kazmir -L) -103 u7.5 -120 +1.5 -170

My Pick: The Rays were underestimated all year and you could have got them on the futures market at an astounding 65-1 paying $6500 on a $100 bet. No one thought they could get past big bad Boston, but they succeeded. Kazmir is looking really good and the overall offensive production is good enough to pull out the win. The Phillies unfortunately are a little more high powered at the bat, but you gotta think that they are a bit cold after finishing off the Dodgers so quick so I think they need at least 1 game to get back in the groove. Take the Rays on the $ line.

Updated 10/23/08

Game 2:

Phillies (B Myers-R) $ Line +142 Total o8.5EV Runline +1.5 -150
Tampa (J Shields-R) -157 u8.5-120 -1.5 +130

My Pick: Man, the Phillies jumped on a first inning lead in game 1 from a 2 run homer by Chase Utley and never gave it up. I thought the Rays had more sluggin power than they showed, but Hamels kept them at bay. With the Phillies just 1 win away from potentially locking it up as they head back to Philly for the next 3 games, you have to expect the Rays to pull out all the stops and hold nothing back. I have to believe that as each team is a sort of cinderella story in its own right you have to think that this thing is going to game 7 which means that Tampa has to win tonight. i would really like to see BJ Upton knock one out of the park tonight and against Myers I think he can do it. Look for the Rays to rebound tonight and get the job done.

Updated 10/24/2008

Game 3:

Tampa (M Garza-R) $ Line -115 Total o9.5+105 Runline -1.5 +135
Phillies (J Moyer-L) +105 u9.5 -125 +1.5 -155

My Pick: Not sure why the swing towards the Rays in this game. The bookies do not seem to fear Jamie Moyer. This could be a mistake, but if BJ Upton comes to play like he did last night then perhaps they are right. As I said before I think this goes to a game 7 so Tampa needs to win one in Philly and I like the matchup. Tampa will clean house tonight, but then get whipped the rest of the time in Philly. I think you can take the Tampa runline on this for a chance to get some cash back from my game 1 debalce of a pick. Go RAYS!!!

Odds to win the World Series Best of Seven This will be updated and changed throughout the Series:
Phillies -150
Tampa +120

Think its time to except the fact that the Joe Torre era is over. It is sad, but all good things must come to an end. For Yankees fans its been a great run, I mean 4 World Series in 5 years aint bad, but at the same time now you have a win or die attitude towards the very team you are passionate about. The team is crucified by the Al Ross of baseball George Steinbrenner everytime they lose a game, and then he tells the press that if the Yanks lose the series then Torre loses is job. What kind of shit is that!!! Its the way its always been in the Yankee organization, now add to the fact the senoir Steinbrenner plans to pass the torch to his sons Hank and Hal, can you image the ego on those guys when your father is George Steinbrenner. Not only will the 2 little George’s completly rip ravage and pilage that team, they will probably end up sueing one another to get the other guy canned. A-Rod your outta here! Posada get your shit and get out! and Clemons pack your bags! They don’t need these guys, they do need to rebuild both the team and the attitude around there. Bringing in LaRussa would be ideal, Mattingly definantly will not get it, the little George’s want to bring in a fresh body and shake things up so whatever happens you can expect new blood at the helm next year. Let me reiterate that no one should be surprised in the coming events and changes that will take place in New York because you heard it here first!!! But definantly let go of all your wet dreams about Joe Torre managing the Yankees in 08′.
