NCAAF Betting Online:
Points are sure to come in bunches on Monday, January 2nd, 2011 in the Fiesta Bowl where the Stanford Cardinal (11-1, 10-2 ATS) and Oklahoma State Cowboys (11-1, 9-3 ATS) will collide in CFB betting action; kick-off from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ is set to go live on ESPN & ESPN3.com at 8:30 ET.
NCAA Football Betting Odds
Stanford Cardinal (+3.5) -110
Oklahoma State Cowboys (-3.5) -110
Over/Under 74
The Cardinal proved that last year’s 12-1 SU & 8-5 ATS team was no fluke by going out and winning 11 of their 12 regular season match-ups in 2011 while at the same time becoming CFB bettor’s darlings by covering the closing number 10 times. Stanford had no problem picking right back up where it left off a year ago even though former head coach Jim Harbaugh bolted for the NFL. Current Coach David Shaw overlooked nine straight wins both straight up and against the closing CFB betting line before the Cardinal suffered their one and only SU loss of the season at home against Oregon. Unfortunately, that lone defeat prevented the them from participating in this year’s national championship game.
Led by junior QB Andrew Luck, the offense posted some eye-popping numbers en route to scoring an average of 43.6 PPG (#5) while racking up a hefty 482.2 YPG (#10). Luck was simply brilliant throwing for 3185 yards while completing 70 percent of his passes for an 8.54 yards per pass average; he also tossed 35 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. With the Cowboys giving up an alarming 265.6 YPG through the air (#102), the Tree’s WR corps look to be in store for a huge evening. Unfortunately, Stanford will also give up its fair share of yards through the air in this spot considering it gave up a healthy 241.1 YPG via the pass (#79); the Cardinal gave up a combined 439 yards and six TDs through the air in games against USC and Oregon this season.
Oklahoma State was by far the best and most consistent team within the Big 12 in 2011. With 14 starters returning from last year’s 11-2 SU & 9-3-1 ATS team that destroyed Arizona in the Alamo Bowl, the groundwork was there for head coach Mike Gundy’s kids to have a season the folks in Stillwater wouldn’t soon forget. Though they failed to cover the closing number in their Week 1 opener versus UL-Lafayette, the Cowpokes hit the ground running winning and covering the closing CFB betting odds in each of their next seven games before pulling one out in overtime at home against Kansas State that ended the streak.
With Alabama falling that same weekend, all the Cowboys had to do to punch their first ever ticket to the BCS National Championship Game was win out; that unfortunately didn’t happen after they shockingly fell in overtime at Iowa State the night after the University was rocked with news of another terrible tragedy. OKST righted the ship in a big way in its “Bedlam” matchup finale with Oklahoma pounding the Sooners 44-10 as 3.5-point favorites. In doing so, QB Brandon Weeden and WR Justin Blackmon will look to light the desert up on the back of an offense that checks in ranked 3rd in total yardage (557.0 YPG) and 2nd in scoring offense (49.3 PPG). The defense gave up its fair share of yardage (#107 at 445.7 YPG) and points (#61 at 25.8 PPG) this season, but there wasn’t a team better than the Cowpokes in forcing turnovers who did so 42 times. Ball security will be of utmost importance for Stanford heading into this clash.
CFB Betting Prediction – As good as both of these teams were against the spread in 2011, its darn near close to impossible to pick a side in this matchup and feel real confident about it. Explosive players will be littered all over the field and both clubs are coached very well. That said; we’ve already seen Stanford come darn near close to losing each of the shoot-outs it participated in this season (USC/OR) needing overtime to overcome the Trojans. The Cardinal do enter a fabulous 25-11 ATS their L/36 lined games and 7-0 ATS in their L/7 non-conference tussles, but stand just 2-4 SU & 3-3 ATS the L/6 times they were dogged. OK State checks in a remarkable 13-0 ATS the L/13 times it was favored in the 3.5-10 point range, and has covered five of its L/6 match-ups against Pac-12 opposition. Expect a shoot-out in the desert and for the orange and black to do just enough to overcome the closing number!

2011 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Uconn Vs Oklahoma Odds and Predictions
NCAA Football Betting Odds – UConn Faces Long Odds for Beating Sooners in Fiesta Bowl
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
Bookmaker Sportsbook presents another duel against the NCAA football betting odds this week with the Fiesta Bowl. The Oklahoma Sooners and Connecticut Huskies square off in an important affair that college football betting fans surely won’t be able to wait to sink their teeth into.
NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl portion of the college football wagering season continues on Saturday, January 1st at 8:30 ET, and fans trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds with mobile betting will get to watch the Oklahoma Sooners take on the Connecticut Huskies at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ. You can watch the Fiesta Bowl this year on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
The Huskies are making their first ever appearance in the BCS, as this is the first time that they have won the Big East. They were the final team taken to the biggest bowl games in the country, as no one really wanted to take UConn into its game thanks to the fear that it won’t really travel that well.
This probably wasn’t the best team in the Big East, but the Huskies definitely earned their spot in this huge game with a huge payout at the end of the day. They beat the NCAA football betting odds a number of times this season thanks to the fact that Jordan Todman had a fantastic year. In a season in which there were supposed to be a number of dominating backs in the Big East, Todman was really the only one that lived up to the billing running for 1,574 yards and 14 scores on the campaign.
On the other side of the ball Head Coach Bob Stoops is going to have to figure out how to exorcize the demons of horrifying Fiesta Bowls of the past. Twice, this team was a tremendous favorite against the NCAA football betting odds here, and twice, first the Boise State Broncos, and then the West Virginia Mountaineers, made them outright losers.
OU wasn’t as dominating of a team this year as it was supposed to be, though it did win the Big XII to earn its spot here in the BCS. The trio of DeMarco Murray, Landry Jones, and Ryan Broyles are going to be hard to stop though, as the Sooners had one of the best offenses in the land at 482.4 yards and 36.4 points per game.
If you’re going to get to this team, you’d better do it on the other side of the ball. The Sooners allowed 364.6 yards per game and had allowed over 400 yards for the first half of the season.
The Fiesta Bowl features NCAA football betting odds of Oklahoma -17 and a ‘total’ of 55. We aren’t so sure that Oklahoma is going to totally blow it again, but the Huskies play too well and too fundamental sound a brand of football to be beaten by this many points. Take the 17 and run, as the Fiesta Bowl should stay within two scores.
If you’re a fan of trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds, don’t miss a moment of the action this year for your team! Bookmaker Sportsbook has the best NCAA football spreads, ‘totals’, and moneylines on the internet.
