Head Coach Urban Meyer is going to be taking over for the Buckeyes next year, and that is only going to add some fuel to the fire between a bit of a developing rivalry between two teams that were once upon a time national title contenders.
However, Meyer won’t be involved with this battle on the NCAA football betting odds in the Gator Bowl, and it is probably going to be a good thing since this game really isn’t going to be all that great.
Florida’s offense was absolutely atrocious down the stretch this season. There’s a reason that the team went 0-8 ATS in its last eight games over the course of the regular season. The loss to the Florida State Seminoles was an ugly one, as the offense didn’t get on the board until very late in the fourth quarter.
It has been a rough season again for John Brantley. Brantley, who had to wait for two years to take over for Tim Tebow, figured that he would have more success under Charlie Weis’ offense than that of Meyer, but that really hasn’t been the case. He threw for 1,912 yards and 10 TDs against six picks, but he really couldn’t do much to beat the NCAA football betting lines this year. He has suffered a number of injuries with his latest being a concussion. He probably won’t miss this game, but it is definitely something to watch in front of an offensive line that has been terrible this season.
Ohio State has improved dramatically as the season has worn out. DeVier Posey is going to be in this game, just the third duel of his senior season, and that is going to be an interesting addition for Braxton Miller, who is a freshman that is most certainly up and coming.
NCAA Football Betting Pick – Florida dominated in the 2007 National Championship Game against these Buckeyes as big time underdogs. Since that point, the SEC has really dominated against the Big Ten in virtually every bowl game. Remember the Gator Bowl last year when Mississippi State beat the snot out of Michigan? We don’t think that the result will be that ugly, but we do think that UF is going to get the best of OSU again.
Beating the NCAA Football betting lines can be a snap, but only if you’ve got the right sportsbook at your fingertips. College Football Lines – Rich Rod Might Need Gator Bowl Win To Save Job Against Bulldogs
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
Whether you prefer to bet on college football lines with mobile betting or on the internet, Bookmaker Sportsbook is your one stop shop for the entire 2010 NCAA football betting campaign, including for this duel between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Michigan Wolverines in the Gator Bowl.
NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl season kicks off at the Gator Bowl for the Michigan Wolverines as they take on the college football lines against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Ever Bank Field in Jacksonville, FL. Kickoff on Saturday, January 1st is set for 1:30 ET in a nationally televised tussle on ESPN2.
Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is definitely on the hot seat even though he finally took the Wolverines to a bowl game for the first time throughout his stay in Ann Arbor. However, with some other great coaches out there available for the taking, Rodriguez needs to prove that he is still capable of taking the program to better heights to keep his job.
If he’s going to beat the college football lines in this one, he knows that Denard Robinson is going to have to have a great game. Robinson was once the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this year, but he was overtaken by a number of other contenders as Big Blue lost some games in the regular season.
Though the Wolverines went just 3-5 SU and 0-8 ATS in their L/8 battles against the college football lines, Robinson still shined, throwing for 2,316 yards and 16 scores, and rushing for 1,643 yards and 14 TDs. He used Roy Roundtree quite a bit this year, as the top receiver for Michigan set a school record for yards in a game against the Illinois Fighting Illini.
The Bulldogs might have been the most pleasant surprise in the SEC this year, as Head Coach Dan Mullen really should have been up for AP Coach of the Year honors. He brought a program that had really slipped in recent years, and made it a legitimate Top 25 contender.
MSU did lose this year to all of the best teams in the SEC West, but the win over the Florida Gators in the Swamp was the highlight of the year.
Offensively, the combination of Chris Relf under center and Vick Ballard in the backfield put together 218.9 yards per game, to rank No. 16 in the land rushing the pigskin. On the other side of the ball the ‘D’ only allowed 111.8 yards per game rushing; a real testament to how strong this team has been at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
The Gator Bowl college football lines feature Mississippi State favored by 4.5 points with a total of 59.5. The Bulldogs have had a great season this year, and they really did a nice job against Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers earlier this season. That might bode well for a great game against the Wolverines here in Jacksonville. The line is dropping, but we still have confidence that New Year’s Day is a day for the Dogs.
