NCAAF Betting Online:

In a battle between two teams that probably do not deserve to be bowling, we are merely backing the team with the better defense on the CFB lines when the UCLA Bruins (6-7, 5-8 ATS) take on the Illinois Fighting Illini (6-6, 5-7 ATS) in the Fight Hunger Bowl from AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA on Saturday, December 31st at 3:30 ET on ESPN.

Adding to the uncertainty on the CFB lines here is the fact that both of these teams have fired their head coach, and the defensive coordinators of each club are serving as interim coaches for this contest before Jim Mora, Jr. at UCLA and Tim Beckman at Illinois start serving as the head coaches next season.

Current Line at Bookmaker: Illinois (-2) -110, Total 47

This could without exaggeration be the worst matchup in bowl history, as the Bruins were invited despite now having a losing overall record after losing the Pac-12 Championship Game to Oregon, while the Illini became the first college football team in history at the FBS level to lose its last six games after beginning the year 6-0. Is it any wonder the teams made coaching changes?

Alas, the game must go on, and it is very difficult to find much to like about either of these teams on the CFB lines at the current time. Illinois did cover the spread vs. an excellent Wisconsin team in its home finale, losing just 28-17 in the second to last game of the season, but it then went out and ended the year by losing 27-7 as a 10-point favorite at Minnesota.

As for UCLA, the only reason the Bruins were even in the Pac-12 Championship Game was because USC was ineligible. That would be the USC team that torched the Bruins 50-0 in the final game of the regular season. UCLA played for the championship with just a 5-4 conference mark because they were the only other South Division team besides USC to be above .500 in Pac-12 play.

The offensive numbers for these teams are similar, as UCLA is averaging 23.8 points and 388.8 total yards per game while Illinois averages 22.8 points and 358.2 yards per contest. However, there are many more good defenses in the Big Ten than there are in the offensive-dominated Pac-12, so we would give Illinois the slight edge offensively after adjusting for defenses faced.

In a game between two ugly teams, the big edge that the Illini appear to have on defense here is a good enough reason to back them at a cheap number on the CFB lines. Illinois is allowing just 20.1 points and 291.8 total yards per game, and it has been stout both vs. the run (3.3 yards per carry) and the pass (6.4 yards per attempt).

UCLA is allowing 32.2 points and a terrible 424.2 yards per game, so look for Illinois to eke out just enough points to win and cover.

CFB Lines Selection: Take the Illinois Fighting Illini (-2)

If you agree that the Illinois defense will make the difference in the ugliest bowl matchup ever, or if you disagree and feel UCLA will give a winning effort, you can back your opinion on this and other CFB lines at Bookmaker Sportsbook and get paid quickly with the fastest payouts in the world.

College Football Vegas Odds – Eagles Look for Ways to Stop Pistol in Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl

Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.

Betting on the go for the college football Vegas odds couldn’t be any easier than it is this bowl season at Bookmaker Sportsbook! The duel we are keying in on today is the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl between the Boston College Eagles and the Nevada Wolf Pack.

NCAAF Betting Online: The Boston College Eagles and the Nevada Wolf Pack are ready to have at it in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Sunday, January 9th at 9:00 ET. This game from AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA can be seen nationally on ESPN and ESPN3.com, and is certainly a bowl battle that you won’t want to miss our analysis of the college football Vegas odds here at Bookmaker Sportsbook.

Many probably don’t realize just how strong the Eagles were against the college football Vegas odds at the end of the year. They had to win at least four of their final five games just to make it to bowl eligibility, and they ended up winning all five instead, beating the college football Vegas odds in four of the five.

The problem this team has is that its offense just isn’t good enough right now. Chase Rettig might be a great signal caller in time in Chestnut Hill, but for now, he is leading a team that is averaging just 312.8 yards and 18.9 points per game, some of the lowest marks for teams in bowl games this year.

This is also going to be a tough spot for the Eagles from the standpoint of their defense. They are going up against one of the most dynamic offenses in the game, and though they have the No. 1 rush defense in the country at 72.7 yards per game allowed, they are sure to be tested by Colin Kaepernick and companies “Pistol” attack.

Kaepernick sealed his resume at the University of Nevada by upsetting the Boise State Broncos in his final home game in Reno. Now, Kaepernick can round out his career with a big time win here against Boston College in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the reward for winning the WAC.

No team played Boise State better than the Wolf Pack did this year, as they beat the college football Vegas odds thanks to a great offense. This unit averaged 536.1 yards per game and 42.6 points per game, and when it gets going, there isn’t a more fun team in the land to watch.

Vai Taua had a great year as well, rushing for 1,534 yards, and he found the end zone 22 times in his final year in Reno as well.

The college football Vegas odds in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl features the Wolf Pack favored by nine points, while the ‘total’ has been set at 54.5. When given essentially a month and change to prepare, the Pistol is a beatable offense. The Boston College defense plays well enough to really be able to stymie this team, and though Nevada is going to be the team du jour to pick in this one, we tend to believe that the Eagles have not only a cover in them, but an outright upset as well!
