NCAA Football Betting Odds
SMU Mustangs (+3.5) -110
Pittsburgh Panthers (-3.5) -110
Over/Under 47.5
It has been quite the interesting preparation for the bowl season already for both the Mustangs and the Panthers. SMU thought that it was losing Head Coach June Jones to the Arizona State Sun Devils, only to hear that he was coming back to the university. It is anyone’s guess what type of loyalty the players will have for Jones in the preparations of this game.
Ironically, it was Pitt’s Head Coach Todd Graham that ended up taking the Arizona State job just 11 months after accepting the position for the Panthers. It is clear that Pittsburgh was shocked by the decision for Graham to basically make a lateral move to the desert for reportedly the exact same salary, and now, the team needs to band together to try to finish out the year .500 in spite of all of the problems that the club has had.
If the Panthers are going to beat the NCAA football betting odds in this one, they are going to need to overcome a slew of injuries. Ray Graham, the team’s leading rusher is out for the season, and his backup, Zach Brown probably won’t play in the Compass Bowl either with a sternum injury. Receivers Ronald Jones and Devin Street have injuries that could take him out of this game as well.
SMU didn’t play well down the stretch, failing to beat the NCAA football betting spreads against its final six foes. The Mustangs only won two of those games, home dates with the Rice Owls and the Tulane Green Wave, and included was a brutal loss against the Navy Midshipmen, who aren’t even bowl eligible this year.
Kyle Padron was supposed to be the man that really led this team into the future, but he was benched in favor of JJ McDermott this year. McDermott threw for 3,182 yards and 16 TDs this year, but he also was picked off 16 times.
NCAA Football Betting Pick – Pittsburgh is 10-2 ATS in its last 12 games against teams with winning records, and it is clear that it was playing better ball down the stretch than the Mustangs did. We think that the emotion of getting rid of their head coach will help out the Panthers, and they’ll end up winning the BBVA Compass Bowl going away.

2011 BBVA Compass Bowl Pittsburgh Vs Kentucky Odds and Predictions
NCAA Football Betting Odds – BBVA Compass Bowl Matches U-Pitt and Kentucky
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
Bookmaker Sportsbook presents another duel against the NCAA football betting odds this week with the BBVA Compass Bowl. The Kentucky Wildcats and Pittsburgh Panthers square off in an important affair that college football betting fans surely won’t be able to wait to sink their teeth into.
NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl portion of the college football wagering season continues on Saturday, January 8th at 12:00 ET, and fans trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds with mobile betting will get to watch the Kentucky Wildcats take on the Pittsburgh Panthers at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL. You can watch the BBVA Compass Bowl this year on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
The Panthers are going to be heading in a new direction when this game is over, as new Head Coach Michael Haywood will be taking over for the departed Dave Wannstedt. This was a very disappointing year for a team that once had a two game cushion on the entire field in the Big East, only to blow it down the stretch. The punishment was to take on the NCAA football betting odds against a stout Kentucky team in a less than desirable bowl destination here in Birmingham.
Dion Lewis and the offense really struggled to get going this year, something that really upset those banking on the Panthers against the NCAA football betting odds for the majority of the season. Averaging just 367.8 yards per game and getting just 956 total yards out of Lewis were both major disappointments this year, and though the talent level of this team can change that in the finale here at the BBVA Compass Bowl, it doesn’t seem all that likely.
For the Wildcats, another 6-6 season and a trip to one of the bottom barrel SEC bowl games is becoming the norm, but in a year in which Head Coach Joker Phillips faced a number of challenges, this is a very acceptable result.
Unfortunately for Phillips and UK, it will have to go into this game without the services of the team’s senior leader, Mike Hartline. Hartline was arrested for public intoxication in December, and was promptly suspended for the final game of his career.
There’s still plenty of excitement in Lexington though, as many think that the Wildcats can beat the NCAA football betting odds due to the fact that Randall Cobb is a dynamo in disguise. The future of this program threw for 58 yards and three scores and rushed for 410 yards and five TDs this year, and he is likely to be taking a ton of snaps in Hartline’s absence.
The BBVA Compass Bowl features NCAA football betting odds of Pittsburgh -3 and a ‘total’ of 52. We just don’t trust the Panthers in this one though, as we don’t know how motivated they are going to be to play in this game. Kentucky wants to finish up a great season with a huge victory, and Cobb is just the man to really spark this team to victory, even without its leader on the field.
If you’re a fan of trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds, don’t miss a moment of the action this year for your team! Bookmaker Sportsbook has the best NCAA football spreads, ‘totals’, and moneylines on the internet.
