NCAAF Betting Online:
The wrong team may be favored on the CFB odds when Toledo (8-4, 7-5 ATS) takes on Air Force (7-5, 5-7 ATS) in the Military Bowl from RFK Stadium in Washington, DC on Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 at 4:30 ET on ESPN & ESPN3.com.
Yes, favored Toledo has the more balanced offense, but the Rockets also have one of the worst defenses of any bowl team and the Air Force triple option offense has been giving much better defenses than Toledo’s fits on the CFB odds all year.
If you like straight line transitive property references, consider that Air Force went into Boise State to take on a team that is within one point of being undefeated and playing in a BCS bowl and was only outgained by 15 yards by the Broncos in a covering 37-26 loss. That same Boise team went into Toledo and outgained the Rockets by 261 yards in a 40-15 rout as a 20½-point road favorite.
Current Line at Bookmaker: Toledo (-3), Total 70½
As usual, the Falcons were among the top rushing teams in the country this year, ranking second nationally with 320.3 rushing yards per game, trailing only another military academy in Army. What made the Air Force offense more dangerous this season though and what made this a true triple option once again on the CFB odds was the fact that it now has an effective passing quarterback in Tim Jefferson, Jr.
In past years, the Air Force triple option was in name only, as opposing defenses did not have much respect for the pass. Jefferson changed all that by passing for almost 1500 yards, completing 60.9 percent of his passes and averaging a potent 9.18 yards per pass attempt! Thus, the Falcons averaged 458.8 total yards while putting up 34.4 points per game.
We see the Falcons topping that point figure here vs. an atrocious Toledo defense that allowed 30.9 points and 401.1 total yards per game. Furthermore, that was mostly vs. conventional, pass-oriented offenses in the MAC, so we could easily see the Rockets getting befuddled vs. a triple option offense that they have never seen before.
Now, the reason that Toledo is favored on the CFB odds is because its offense is averaging 42.2 points per game with nice balance, averaging 221.8 rushing yards and 272.1 passing yards. Still, the MAC is not a conference known for defense, so those numbers must be taken in perspective.
Granted, Air Force is not great defensively, but the Falcons have gotten better as the year has gone on, allowing only 21.0 points and 355.0 total yards per game in their last three contests, most significantly allowing only 5.4 yards per pass attempt. Besides, if you like conference bowl trends, then Mountain West underdogs are 13-8 against the spread in bowls since 2000 while MAC favorites are just 9-13-1 ATS.
Look for the Air Force triple option to help keep those trends in tact here!
CFB Odds Selection: Back the Air Force Falcons (+3)
Do you expect Air Force to dominate the Toledo defense with its triple option offense, or will Toledo represent the MAC well as a favorite here? Whatever your opinion, for the highest betting limits, wager on all CFB odds at Bookmaker.

College Football Online – High Flying ECU Takes on Maryland in Military Bowl
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
College football online betting fans are heading into the bowl season this week! Are you ready to bet on the clash between the East Carolina Pirates and Maryland Terrapins? Don’t miss a moment of the action, at Bookmaker Sportsbook, as we are the outlet for you!
NCAAF Betting Online: Enjoy mobile betting with college football online for this great encounter on Wednesday, December 29th at 2:30 ET from RFK Stadium in Washington, DC between the East Carolina Pirates and the Maryland Terrapins. The Military Bowl can be seen nationally on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
The Pirates are probably lucky just to be headed to a bowl game this year. Even though they were in a position for the majority of the season to win the East Division of Conference USA, they were never really able to get over the hump, and the end result was a 6-6 season full of mixed results.
The good news for college football online bettors is that Dominique Davis should really be a thrill to watch in this one. Davis guided an offense that averaged 447.6 yards and 38.2 points per game this season. He had 3,687 yards through the air and 142 more on the ground, and he totaled 45 TDs overall, second in the country to only Heisman Trophy winner Cameron Newton.
The bad news for the Pirates is that their defense was just atrocious in 2010. They allowed at least 42 points their final five games of the campaign and surrendered an average of 54.8 points per game in that stretch; they were tattooed for at least 42 nine times on the season. Needless to say, college football online betting fans hate to see a defense that ranked dead last in the country overall at 480.4 yards per game and third to last in scoring at 43.4 points per game.
Maryland hopes to take advantage after a stellar year. Give credit where credit is due to Head Coach Ralph Friedgen, who got his team to believe after an atrocious 2009 season, and arguably had the squad within a few plays of winning the Atlantic Division in the ACC.
This wasn’t a team that did much special this year on either side of the ball, but it did just enough to win games, something that made college football online wagering easier for one of the better teams in the ACC. Do keep an eye on Torrey Smith though, as his 65 receptions, 1,045 yards, and 12 TDs made him one of the best receivers in the ACC this year.
The Military Bowl college football online betting odds feature the Terrapins getting the nod by seven points. The ‘total’ has been set at 67.5. The Pirates have been a bit of an enigma all season long, but this is going to be a different story. Davis has the tools to put this team on his back to win games all by himself, and that might be exactly what he does in this one. Take the points in what should be one of the most exciting bowl battles of the year.
