NCAAF Betting Online:

Many times in bowls, inferior teams that play with emotion exceed expectations when facing a disappointed powerhouse playing a minor bowl. We think such is the case on the CFB odds when the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-5, 5-7 ATS) take on the Oklahoma Sooners (9-3, 6-6 ATS) on Friday, December 30, 2011 in the Insight Bowl from Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ at 10:00 ET on ESPN.

Let us preface this by saying that we are fully aware that the Sooners are capable of blowing the Hawkeyes out of the water on the CFB odds when both teams give their best effort. However, we simply feel that all the effort will be from the Iowa side here, as Oklahoma had national title aspirations this year, and its effort was sorely lacking down the stretch after those title hopes were dashed.

Sure, the Sooners are probably still good enough to beat Iowa with a sleep-walking effort, but asking an unfocused team to cover a double-digit spread is an entirely different matter.

Current Line at Bookmaker: Oklahoma (-13½) -110, Total 57½

Oklahoma enters this bowl game on a three-game losing streak against the CFB odds. The Sooners knew that all hopes of participating in the BCS National Championship Game were gone once they lost their second game of the year in their third to last game vs. Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and the Baylor Bears.

The Sooners’ lack of effort after that loss was easily discernable, and they ended the year with their two lowest point outputs of the entire season, first in a non-covering and lackluster 26-6 home win over Iowa State and then in a 44-10 wipeout loss at the hands of Oklahoma State. Yes, the latter is one of the best teams in the country, but Oklahoma showed absolutely no fight in that contest.

After such a disappointing effort in the annual Bedlam game vs. its biggest rival, we are not all that optimistic about Oklahoma’s chances of suddenly flipping the switch and playing with enthusiasm in a minor bowl such as this one after having much loftier goals heading into the season.

Now we do get that this looks like a CFB betting odds mismatch statistically on paper, but as mentioned, unlike Oklahoma, Iowa is happy to be here. In fact, the Hawkeyes may be feeling a sense of déjà vu, as they won this very same Insight Bowl last season vs. a ranked Big 12 team as an underdog, in that case upsetting 24th ranked Missouri 27-24.

That is not the only bowl history that Iowa has on its side, as Big 12 teams are just 32-48-5 against the spread in all bowl games since 2000 despite playing in a lot of BCS bowls, while Big Ten underdogs like Iowa are 35-26-1 ATS in that same span.

We are counting on a listless Oklahoma team to allow those trends against the spread to continue, even if the Sooners do win straight up.

CFB Odds Selection: Take the Iowa Hawkeyes (+13½)

So will Iowa be able to cover this big spread vs. a potential flat Sooners’ team, or will Oklahoma actually come to play after a weak finish? Back your opinion on this and other CFB odds at Bookmaker Sportsbook, the most reliable sportsbook with the fastest payouts in the business.

2010 Insight Bowl Missouri Vs Iowa Odds and Predictions

Missouri Tigers College Football Odds VS Iowa Hawkeyes College Football Betting Picks

College Football Lines – Shorthanded Hawkeyes Take Flight in Insight Bowl Against Tigers

Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.

Whether you prefer to bet on college football lines with mobile betting or on the internet, Bookmaker Sportsbook is your one stop shop for the entire 2010 NCAA football betting campaign, including for this duel between the Missouri Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Insight Bowl.

NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl season kicks off at the Insight Bowl for the Iowa Hawkeyes as they take on the college football lines against the Missouri Tigers at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe. Kickoff on Tuesday, December 28th is set for 10:00 ET in a nationally televised tussle on ESPN and ESPN3.com.

Missouri enters this one with some bitter feelings, as this is yet another season in which it had a Top 10 ranking for a good chunk of the season, yet it was passed over by a number of bowl games with Big XII tie-ins. Beating the college football lines is going to be up to an offense that averaged 30.3 points per game this year.

Blaine Gabbert didn’t have the Heisman Trophy type of season that many thought he was capable of, as he only threw for 2,752 yards and 15 TDs against seven picks on the campaign. He also didn’t have a runner that had even 500 yards on the ground, something that is very uncharacteristic of a Gary Pinkel coached team.

Even though Sean Weatherspoon, the team’s most heralded defensive gem in years, left the program last year, this unit seemed to get better and better as the season progressed. Allowing 15.2 points per game was good enough for No. 6 in the land, and was largely the reason for which Mizzou beat the college football lines so often in 2010 (7-5 ATS).

Head Coach Kirk Ferentz has some major issues to deal with for his team heading into the Insight Bowl. The college football lines jumped all over the place in this one after the announcement that the team’s leading receiver, Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, and the team’s leading rusher, Adam Robinson, were both suspended for the Insight Bowl.

Ricky Stanzi has to be wondering how in the world he is going to finish off his collegiate career in style with all of these missing pieces to the puzzle. Stanzi had a great start to his final campaign in Iowa City, but a loss to the Wisconsin Badgers at home really seemed to be the turning point of the season. The Hawkeyes lost their final three games, including twice as double digits favorites against the college football lines.

Stanzi, whom many feel is the best quarterback in the history of Iowa football, did throw for 2,804 yards and 25 TDs against just four picks this year.

The Insight Bowl college football lines feature Missouri favored by three points with a total of 46.5. There are just far too many concerns right now for Stanzi and the Hawkeyes to answer, and unless all of a sudden, an offense emerges without some of its stars in the fold, there’s no reason that a very solid Missouri defense can’t get the job done and guide the Tigers to the SU & ATS triumph.

Bookmaker Sportsbook can handle all of your NCAA football betting needs this year with the best college football lines on the internet from now through the BCS Championship Game.
