On Saturday, December 31, 2011, the Utah Utes (7-5, 5-7 ATS) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (8-4, 5-6-1 ATS) will get it on at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX in the Sun Bowl. Here at Bookmaker Sportsbook, we’ve got our college football picks for this game, which will be shown nationally on CBS at 2:00 ET.

College Football Betting Lines
Utah Utes (+3.5) -110
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (-3.5) -110
Over/Under 51

Back in 2005, the Utes and the Yellow Jackets met in the Emerald Bowl. Georgia Tech was heavily favored, but it made for terrible college football bowl picks, as it was run off the field at AT&T Park in a 38-10 defeat.

Utah has had itself a tumultuous season. The squad lost its quarterback, Jordan Wynn to a season ending shoulder injury in October, and in spite of the fact that it basically controlled its own destiny to reach the first ever Pac-12 Championship Game going into the last week of the season, it couldn’t put aside the lowly Colorado Buffaloes, who were absolutely the worst team in the conference this year.

And then the rumors started to swirl about Head Coach Kyle Whittingham. No, he wasn’t getting fired, but there were a number of teams that were trying to pry him away from Salt Lake City. Instead, he has signed a contract extension and should be with the team as it tries to make itself a force in the Pac-12.

Making college football gambling picks in this one should be easy if you just look at a bit of history.

For starters, Utah is 7-2 ATS in its last nine bowl games. Last year, it ran into a buzz saw in the Las Vegas Bowl against the Boise State Broncos. However, if you just look at the games in which it has played against AQ schools, the Utes are 5-0 SU and ATS since 2003-04.

Meanwhile, both Georgia Tech and Head Coach Paul Johnson have had bad histories in bowl games. Last year, the Ramblin’ Wreck were beaten 14-7 in the ugly Independence Bowl, and they made for terrible college football betting picks in six bowl games. Johnson, who coached with the Navy Midshipmen before coming to Atlanta, hasn’t won a bowl game since 2004.

College Football Betting Pick – That all makes the pick quite easy in this one. This won’t nearly be the first time that Utah wins a bowl game as an underdog, and it won’t be the first time that Georgia Tech loses one as a chalk. Take the Utes all the way to the bank in what might be one of the biggest mismatches during the bowl season.

Making college football picks is often difficult, especially if you don’t have the right sportsbook on your side to give you the best prices. Notre Dame Fighting Irish NCAA Basketball Betting Odds VS Miami Hurricanes NCAAB Betting Picks

NCAA Football Betting Odds – History is Rich in Sun Bowl, as Canes Take on Golden Domers

Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.

Bookmaker Sportsbook presents another duel against the NCAA football betting odds this week with the Sun Bowl where the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Miami Hurricanes will square off in an important affair that college football betting fans surely won’t be able to wait to sink their teeth into.

NCAAF Betting Online: The bowl portion of the college football wagering season continues on Friday, December 31st at 2:00 ET, and fans trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds with mobile betting will get to watch the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Miami Hurricanes at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, TX. You can watch the Sun Bowl this year on CBS.

With former Head Coach Randy Shannon dismissed and new Head Coach Al Golden watching from the sidelines, the Hurricanes know that there is a lot of pressure to perform in this game to help get them back on the right track for years to come. Unfortunately, beating the NCAA football betting odds on a regular basis really never happened for a team that was plagued by injuries throughout the year.

Poor Jacory Harris had just about every imaginable injury under the sun in 2010, and the end result was that he only threw for 1,756 yards and 14 TDs against 12 picks. His backups haven’t proven to be any more effective, but thanks to a defense that allowed just 19.7 points and 313.7 yards per game, “The U” has found its way here to the Sun Bowl for this historic matchup.

Notre Dame really had to scratch and claw in the first year of the Head Coach Brian Kelly era just to make it to the second season. Things really did look dismal at 5-4 for the Irish, as they knew they had to really beat the NCAA football betting odds in a big way against a very tough schedule down the stretch just to make it here.

Injuries killed this team along the way as well. Dayne Crist, Kyle Rudolph, Ian Williams, and Armando Allen, all key cogs to this team, were lost for the season along the way, which has really thrown Tommy Rees into the fire as the team’s starting signal caller with no preparation.

The good news is that Rees has arguably one of the best receiving duos in the nation to try to throw to, as Michael Floyd and Theo Riddick are both fantastic. Rees threw for 905 yards and ten scores against eight picks in basically four games played for the Golden Domers this year.

The Sun Bowl features NCAA football betting odds of Miami -3 and a ‘total’ of 47. This game used to really be one full of tradition and history in the 1980s, as the National Championship always ran through one of these two teams. This isn’t quite the case here in El Paso on New Year’s Eve. Still, we’ll take our chances with the smoking hot Irish, as they were able to topple some of the better teams on the slate down the stretch of their season, while Miami is still a program in flux.

If you’re a fan of trying to beat the NCAA football betting odds, don’t miss a moment of the action this year for your team! Bookmaker Sportsbook has the best NCAA football spreads, ‘totals’, and moneylines on the internet.
