NCAAF Betting Online:
Auburn (7-5, 4-8 ATS) surprised many this season by finishing over .500 after losing so much talent, and we now look for the Tigers to close out on a positive note on the CFB odds vs. a mediocre Virginia (8-4, 6-6 ATS) team in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Saturday, December 31st from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA at 7:30 ET on ESPN.
Yes, Virginia finished at 8-4, but that was in the weak ACC where they lost to the better teams they faced. Auburn, on the other hand, deserves credit for going 4-4 inside the SEC this season despite a lot of last year’s roster now playing in the NFL. That class edge alone should allow the Tigers to cover this cheap number on the CFB odds.
Current Line at Bookmaker: Auburn (-1½) -110, Total 48
Now we get that ACC bowl underdogs are 31-14-1, 68.9 percent since 2000, but most of those lines were much higher than this one and most were not vs. SEC opponents.
Statistically, these teams are equal offensively and Virginia has the better numbers defensively on the CFB odds. On offense, Auburn is averaging 24.2 points and 328.2 total yards per game on 4.3 yards per rush and 6.8 yards per pass attempt. Virginia almost mirrors those numbers, averaging 23.2 points and 396.7 yards per game on 4.3 yards per rush and 6.9 yards per pass.
On defense, the raw numbers give Virginia the edge, as they are allowing 22.2 points and 343.2 yards per contest compared to 29.3 points and a poor 405.8 yards per game, and the Tigers are allowing a full yard more per rushing attempt (4.7 vs. 3.7).
However, in our minds, none of those numbers matter when you consider the teams that these clubs have faced. Auburn faced the 11th toughest schedule in the country according to the Sagarin Ratings, which is not surprising considering they are in the stronger West Division of the SEC, the division that includes LSU, Alabama and Arkansas, who at one point this year were ranked 1-2-3 in the BCS Standings.
The Virginia schedule was not nearly as daunting, grading out just 74th nationally on the CFB odds. Each team has one win over a top 30 Sagarin team, but Virginia’s win came late in the year vs. a Florida State team that played disinterested football for much of the second half of the season. Plus, playing better teams than Florida State every week should have Auburn better prepared for this ACC opponent.
The one negative on the Tigers’ side and the reason why this line sits as low as it does is that leading rusher Michael Dyer is suspended for this game. However, a rotation of Onterio McCalebb (5.2 yards per carry) and Kiehl Frazier (4.5 YPC) should work just fine against a Virginia defense not as good as its numbers.
Thus, we will take this rare opportunity to grab an SEC team at a discounted price.
CFB Odds Prediction: Take the Auburn Tigers (-1½)
If you think that Auburn will show its class here with a rather safe win, or even if you feel that Virginia will prove that its record is not a fluke, you can strongly back your opinion on all CFB odds at Bookmaker Sportsbook, the book with the biggest limits in the business.

College Football Online – Noles and Gamecocks Finish Off 2010 in Chick-Fil-A Bowl
Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.
College football online betting fans are heading into the bowl season this week! Are you ready to bet on the clash between the Florida State Seminoles and South Carolina Gamecocks? Don’t miss a moment of the action, at Bookmaker Sportsbook, as we are the outlet for you!
NCAAF Betting Online: Enjoy mobile betting with college football online for this great encounter on Friday, December 31st at 7:30 ET from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA between the Florida State Seminoles and the South Carolina Gamecocks. The New Era Chick-Fil-A Bowl can be seen nationally on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
The Seminoles had themselves a great first season under the direction of Head Coach Jimbo Fisher, as he accomplished a lot more this year with the garnet and gold than they did over the past several seasons with the retired Bobby Bowden.
Still, college football online bettors are trying to figure out who is going to be under center in this one for FSU. Christian Ponder has really cost himself a lot of money in the NFL Draft this year, as he is likely to be a final day draft choice instead of potentially a Day 2 pick. He is listed as probable with a bursa sac injury, but this same injury cost him the ACC Championship Game against the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Averaging 31.8 points per game was an improvement from last year, but the real marked upgrade came on defense, where the garnet and gold averaged allowing 347.9 yards per game, over 60 yards fewer than they allowed last year.
For South Carolina, this season of firsts ends here in Atlanta. It was the first time that college football online bettors got to see the Gamecocks knock off the Florida Gators in the Swamp. It was also the first time that Head Coach Steve Spurrier beat his former team since leaving Gainesville, and as a result, it was the first time that the team played in the SEC Championship Game.
The key to beating the college football online betting odds in this one is going to be the play of Marcus Lattimore and Alshon Jeffrey. Lattimore rumbled for 1,198 yards and 19 TDs this year, while Jeffrey was one of the top receivers in the nation with 79 grabs, 1,387 yards, and nine trips to the end zone.
Stephen Garcia has had his best year in Columbia as well. He threw for 2,816 yards and 20 TDs, and though he is coming off of a rough game against the Auburn Tigers, you know that he has the ability to bounce back and score a big time victory in this one.
The Chick-Fil-A Bowl college football online betting odds feature the Gamecocks getting the nod by three points. The ‘total’ has been set at 54.5. South Carolina just isn’t getting enough respect in this game. Florida State might have beaten the Gators this year, but this is a different challenge. The Gamecocks don’t have a great history in bowl games, but that all ends with a big ‘W’ just before the strike of midnight.
