NCAAF Betting Online:

Texas (7-5, 6-6 ATS) returns to a bowl game this season after missing out last year, but we feel that the Longhorns have drawn a tough assignment on the CFB lines in taking on California (7-5, 7-5 ATS) in the Holiday Bowl from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA on Wednesday, December 28th at 8:00 ET on ESPN & ESPN3.com.

California has an offense that is in high gear and a defense that can stop the run, and if Texas does not run the ball effectively, we feel that it will lose this game outright on the CFB lines as we simply do not trust the two-headed Longhorns’ quarterback combination of Case McCoy and David Ash in a bowl game.

Current Line at Bookmaker: Texas (-3 -105), Total 48

Texas averaged more rushing yards (210.4) than passing yards (193.6) per game this season, which is a total flip-flop over recent years. The Longhorns have nice depth at running back too.

Freshman sensation Malcolm Brown ended up with 707 rushing yards on a rather ordinary 4.4 yards per carry, but the Horns had three other running backs with at least 326 rushing yards, and all three averaged more per carry than Brown did, with Joe Bergeron averaging 6.6 yards per carry, Foswhitt Whittaker 5.8 and D.J. Monroe 6.9 yards per tote. Moreover, Marquise Goodwin averaged 9.3 yards on 20 carries.

All of that said, the passing game was ineffective, and the Texas quarterbacks combined to toss a lowly 11 touchdown passes on the CFB odds this season against 14 interceptions. That means that the Longhorns will only go as far as the running game will take it, and California had a pretty good defense by Pac-12 standards, allowing 24.4 points on 339.4 yards per game.

More importantly, the Golden Bears allowed only 3.8 yards per rush, and they can improve on that already good number here by committing to stop the run without having too negative an effect on a pass defense that is allowing a good 6.7 yards per attempt, especially considering the Texas quarterback situation.

Texas’ defense had good numbers overall this year, but the Horns still struggled with potent offenses, surrendering 55 points to Oklahoma and 48 points to Baylor. California may not be in that class, but the Golden Bears lost narrowly to Stanford 31-28 and then exploded for a 47-38 road win at Arizona State in its last two games versus the CFB lines, so they should score their fair share of points in tonight’s spot.

Besides, the Big 12 has oftentimes disappointed in bowl games, going only 32-48-5 against the spread in all bowls since 2000 with many of those being BCS bowl appearances. The Longhorns’ lack of a passing game hurts a lot here too should Cal jump out to a quick lead. Add this all up and it points to the Golden Bears pulling the minor upset!

CFB Lines Selection: Take the California Golden Bears (+3 -115)

2010 Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl Odds and Predictions

Nebraska Cornhuskers College Football Lines VS Washington Huskies NCAA Football Gambling Lines

College Football Vegas Odds – Locker Makes Farewell as Huskies Try to Avenge Loss to Huskers in Holiday Bowl

Written by North Shore Sports, Inc.

Betting on the go for the college football Vegas odds couldn’t be any easier than it is this bowl season at Bookmaker Sportsbook! The duel we are keying in on today is the Holiday Bowl between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Washington Huskies.

NCAAF Betting Online: The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Washington Huskies are ready to have at it in the Holiday Bowl on Thursday, December 30th at 10:00 ET. This game from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA can be seen nationally on ESPN and ESPN3.com, and is certainly a bowl battle that you won’t want to miss our analysis of the college football Vegas odds here at Bookmaker Sportsbook.

The Huskies haven’t been to a bowl game since the 2002 Sun Bowl, so it’s fantastic to see Jake Locker get a shot to be on the college football Vegas odds rotation just once in his career. This is also a chance at retribution for the senior, as he was absolutely atrocious against these Cornhuskers when the teams met in Seattle earlier this year. The future first round NFL Draft choice had the worst game of his career on a tremendous stage, going just 4-for-20 for 71 yards with a TD and two picks.

Neither the offense nor defense has to impress you with this team this year if you’re looking at the college football Vegas odds, as this was one of the few teams in the bowl season that ranked worse than No. 70 in both total offense and total defense.

To make matters worse, U-Dub was the only team in the land that made a bowl game that ranked No. 90 or worse in both scoring and points allowed. However, because the Pac-10 only had four bowl eligible teams this year and two got swept up by the BCS, the Huskies were really the de facto guaranteed choice for this game, especially since the Arizona Wildcats were shut out in this game last year.

Big Red has to be disappointed that they didn’t win the Big XII this year before heading to the Big Ten, but Head Coach Bo Pelini has nothing to hang his head about. There’s an outside chance that he could have the second team in the history of college football to have three 1,000 yard rushers by the time this game is over. Taylor Martinez only needs 942 yards, while Rex Burkhead finds himself 88 yards shy. Roy Helu already has 1,211 yards and 11 scores on the campaign.

The college football Vegas odds in the Holiday Bowl features the Cornhuskers favored by 14 points, while the ‘total’ has been set at 52.5. There’s little tangible reason to think that Washington is going to do any better than lose by the 35 points it was blown out by earlier this year by Nebraska, but we tend to think that it can win this game outright. Locker has the ability to work some magic, and stranger things have happened during bowl games. Back U-Dub and Steve Sarkisian in this one as they make a game of this one against the disappointed and disinterested Cornhuskers.

If you’re looking for the best previews of the college football Vegas odds on the internet, we’re the one stop shop for you. Bookmaker Sportsbook has the best NCAA football lines on the net and the best analysis to boot.
