NFL Week 13 Fantasy Football Power Rankings and Commentary

29 Tarvaris Jackson Vikings DET
30 John Beck Dolphins NYJ
31 Trent Edwards Bills @WAS
32 Joey Harrington Falcons @STL

Notes: I think its very intresting that Derek Anderson slipped into the #2 spot usually reserved for Tony Romo. The fact is that his supporting cast is making him look really good. If you had Kurt Warner and Brett Favre on your roster I would definantly start Warner, think with your head not with your heart. I was really disappointed that Kellen Clemens has not come around like expected, but I suspect there are deeper issues and he will continue to struggle. Matt Schuab should take a page out of Carson Palmers play book from last week and have a great day. Speaking of Carson Palmer, it looks that last week Palmer finally got out of his funk and started making plays….its about damn time! I like many of you out there drafted Palmer as my starter and thanks to the quandry that Cincinnati had put themselves in the result was many unneccessary loss’ to scrub opponents that beat me by 1 or 2 points! The point of my rant was to inform you that I think Palmer is back and hes gonna tear up the supposed fierce Pittsburgh secondary, QUOTE ME ON IT!!!

Running Backs:

46 Fred Jackson Bills @WAS
47 Correll Buckhalter Eagles SEA
48 Leon Washington Jets @MIA
49 T.J. Duckett Lions @MIN
50 Jerious Norwood Falcons @STL

Notes: I think Fargus may be a bit overrated in this case, the Denver D has been coming together lately. I think Marion Barber gets shut down by the GB run D, they are looking tough! If Selvin Young is healthy then I’m sure the OaklandD will ablige him by giving up a ton of yards. Westbrook gets the top spot this week basically because Seattle run D gave up 150 yds and 2 TD’s to Stephen Jackson and Philly has a better O line so Westbrook is gonna get plenty of work. Kolby Smith will not have the same luck against the Chargers D that he did with Oakland.

Wide Recievers:

1 Randy Moss Patriots @BAL
2 Terrell Owens Cowboys GB
3 Braylon Edwards Browns @ARI
4 Larry Fitzgerald Cardinals CLE
5 Reggie Wayne Colts JAC
6 Hines Ward Steelers CIN
7 T.J. Houshmandzadeh Bengals @PIT

46 Ronald Curry Raiders DEN
47 Ted Ginn Jr. Dolphins NYJ
48 Muhsin Muhammad Bears NYG
49 Joe Jurevicius Browns @ARI
50 Amani Toomer Giants @CH

Notes: DJ Hackett went and got injured again and now he looks to be out for the rest of the season. This means Branch who is already back in the spotlight after his performance last week will get more targets, but then again he will also get all the attention from the secondary as well, which makes Bobby Engram the play here, no doubt about it. TJ should get some TD’s back that were vultured by Chad Johnson last week. I think Ted Ginn Jr is coming around and is a starter in deep leagues, him and Beck are gonna make it work,(they have to). All the Cardinal WR’s should get a full helping of points as well as Braylon Edwards becuase neither team has much of a secondary to speak of. I like Greg Jennings a little more than Donald Driver just because of recent patterns, but that could all be hog wash.

Tight Ends:

1 Kellen Winslow Browns @ARI
2 Antonio Gates Chargers @KC
3 Donald Lee Packers @DAL
4 Jason Witten Cowboys GB
5 Jeremy Shockey Giants @CHI
6 Dallas Clark Colts JAC
7 Tony Gonzalez Chiefs SD
8 Heath Miller Steelers CIN
9 Benjamin Watson Patriots @BAL
10 Chris Cooley Redskins BUF
11 Vernon Davis 49ers @CAR

13 Tony Scheffler Broncos @OAK
14 L.J. Smith Eagles SEA
15 Greg Olsen Bears NYG
16 Alge Crumpler Falcons @STL
17 Marcedes Lewis Jaguars @IND
18 Desmond Clark Bears NYG
19 Bo Scaife Titans HOU
20 Alex Smith Buccaneers @NO
21 Randy McMichael Rams ATL
22 Jeff King Panthers SF
23 Ben Utecht Colts JAC
24 Leonard Pope Cardinals CLE
25 Eric Johnson Saints TB
26 Will Heller Seahawks @PHI
27 Robert Royal Bills @WAS
28 Chris Baker Jets @MIA
29 Zach Miller Raiders DEN
30 Visanthe Shiancoe Vikings DET
31 Sean McHugh Lions @MIN
32 Reggie Kelly Bengals @PIT

Notes: Shockey should most likely get it together this week, hes been just awful and could be viewed as trade bait in the off season if he doesn’t start playing like he wants to. Donald Lee is great red zone threat in Dallas. If you had the patience to keep Crumpler all these weeks then he might finally pay off this week. Seattle used the TE quite nicely against STL and Roddy White can’t catch all the balls so I like him to finally have an above average game tis week. Tennessee looks vulnerable to TE exposure, I think Matt Schaub takes full advantage of this with Owen Daniels.

Kickers:

1 Nick Folk Cowboys GB
2 Stephen Gostkowski Patriots @BAL
3 Rob Bironas Titans HOU
4 Mason Crosby Packers @DAL
5 Jeff Reed Steelers CIN
6 Matt Stover Ravens NE
7 Shayne Graham Bengals @PIT
8 Josh Brown Seahawks @PHI
9 Kris Brown Texans @TEN
10 Adam Vinatieri Colts JAC
11 Jason Hanson Lions @MIN
12 David Akers Eagles SEA
13 Jason Elam Broncos @OAK
14 Robbie Gould Bears NYG
15 Neil Rackers Cardinals CLE
16 Phil Dawson Browns @ARI
17 Nate Kaeding Chargers @KC
18 Lawrence Tynes Giants @CHI
19 John Kasay Panthers SF
20 Jeff Wilkins Rams ATL
21 Ryan Longwell Vikings DET
22 Sebastian Janikowski Raiders DEN
23 Shaun Suisham Redskins BUF
24 Josh Scobee Jaguars @IND
25 Joe Nedney 49ers @CAR
26 John Carney Chiefs SD
27 Rian Lindell Bills @WAS
28 Olindo Mare Saints TB
29 Matt Bryant Buccaneers @NO
30 Jay Feely Dolphins NYJ
31 Mike Nugent Jets @MIA
32 Morten Andersen Falcons @STL

Notes: I would hope that no one is still adding and dropping kickers. Rackers owners have to be mad, and I understand completely. Josh Brown is also missing FG’s as well and it is very discouraging, they both know they are better than that.

Defenses:

1 New England Patriots @BAL
2 Minnesota Vikings DET
3 San Diego Chargers @KC
4 New York Giants @CHI
5 Pittsburgh Steelers CIN
6 New Orleans Saints TB
7 Indianapolis Colts JAC
8 Denver Broncos @OAK
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers @NO
10 Chicago Bears NYG
11 Seattle Seahawks @PHI
12 San Francisco 49ers @CAR
13 St. Louis Rams ATL
14 Tennessee Titans HOU
15 Kansas City Chiefs SD
16 Detroit Lions @MIN
17 Jacksonville Jaguars @IND
18 Philadelphia Eagles SEA
19 Washington Redskins BUF
20 Green Bay Packers @DAL
21 Miami Dolphins NYJ
22 Oakland Raiders DEN
23 New York. Jets @MIA
24 Dallas Cowboys GB
25 Cincinnati Bengals @PIT
26 Baltimore Ravens NE
27 Buffalo Bills @WAS
28 Carolina Panthers SF
29 Atlanta Falcons @STL
30 Houston Texans @TEN
31 Cleveland Browns @ARI
32 Arizona Cardinals CLE

Notes: I think Pitt is ranked too high here, and Cincy finds a way to destroy them. Green Bay run D is underrated and I think they deserve a much higher ranking, I think they are at least startable. Baltimore is going to get hurt bad and I mean BAAAD. Minnesota ranked this high could lure me into a sense of false comfort, but I think they continue with the momentum and put the hurt on Kitna and the Lions O.

NFL Week 13 Betting Odds and Fantasy Football Impact

Week 12 was full of surprises and close calls, from Gus Ferrote fumbling on the 1 yard line to Kurt Warner dropping the ball in the end zone in over time, hearts were broken and playoff pictures got a little more clearer.  This week should be just as exciting and it all starts with the NFC’s version of the Colts vs Pats when the cinderella story that is Brett Favre and the Packers head to Dallas to take on Tony Romo and the Cowboys.  Both teams are 10 – 1 and have high hopes of securing home field advantage thru the playoffs.  Heres the rundown of matchups this week along with the spread and over/under totals as well as the fantasy football impact each matchup has on your players.

THURSDAY NIGHT

Green Bay
Dallas  -7  51.5

This is the game of the week by far and perhaps a preview of the NFC Championship.  Both teams have high flying offenses, however the run game in Dallas is far more productive.  Favre looks unstoppable and the whole Packers team is playing so loose its a little scary, you can tell that both these teams are having fun and despite the implications of the outcome you can be sure that both Favre and Romo will be smiling at the end.  The Pack has not lost on the road this year, however I don’t think they have played anyone with the caliber of the Cowboys and much of their success will depend on Ryan Grant and the ground game, 7 points is alot to give Favre and company and thats why I think you gotta take the points, they might not win, but it will be closer than 7, take the Pack and the points!  *Fantasy Impact: Last week ALL Packers WR’s eat big and I’m not talking about turkey.  They should all be good starts this week again and I think if you have Ryan Grant you have to start him.  On the other side of the ball I would be very weary of starting the Cowboys RB’s, the Green Bay run D is extremely good this year and I think that Marion Barber and Julius Jones have been giving flash in the pan performances this year and could be very well shut down.  Owens is always a start and will be a good matchup against the overrated Packer secondary.

SUNDAY

Buffalo
Washington  -5.5  37

First of all, I would like to send my thoughts out to the family of Sean Taylor, it seems like such a waste of life and talent.  OK, neither of these teams have much to look forward to they are both coming off disappointing losses and I really don’t see much fireworks happening although with the death of their teammate I think Clinton Portis will lead a spirited campaign and completely drub the Bills.  The return of Trent Edwards will make little difference and I think the Bills are already looking forward to next year.  *Fantasy Impact:  Portis is going to have a huge day and I think that the Washington D could have one of those games that only happenes once a season, something out of the movies with a heart pumping soundtrack.

Detroit
Minnesota  -3.5  45

Detroit looked like the cinderella team that was destined to make the playoffs for the first time this decade, but now after losing 3 games in a row they may be in jeopardy of letting the dream slip away.  They got schooled by the Pack last week, but you really can’t hold it against them, I mean its Brett Favre.  The Vikings are on a roll and now it looks as if rookie sensation Adrian Peterson could be healthy enough in time for Sunday.  Also consider that the Vikings D is on top of their game coming off a huge 4 INT’s 3 of which were returned for TD’s they are feeling really good about themselves and going up against the pass happy Mike Martz offense with a shaky Kitna that seems to be airing it out in desperation.  They have alot of talent in Detroit, but they are not ready this year.  If AP is healthy then its going to be ugly for the Lions.  Minnesota is the play give the points.  *Fantasy Impact: Kevin Jones seems like the play against a shaky Minnesota run D, AP obviously if hes healthy and if not hopefully you picked up Chester Taylor hes been great lately.  Minnesota is a one sided team with the run and Detroit was one sided with the pass, but I think they change the game plan this week and go to the run so beware of starting Lions WR’s.

NY Jets
Miami  -1  38

They were so close last week against Pitt and was rooting for Miami all the way, plus with the return of Ricky WIlliams how can you not root for the winless Dolphins.  The Jets on the other hand have a whole other situation, I just don’t understand it.  They finally started playing Kellen Clemens like they should have at the beginning of the season they brought in Thomas Jones to invent a run game they got the talent at WR and still Coach “Mangenious” can’t find the winning combination to put the Jets on the path of W’s.  This is a classic rivalry in the NFL, but this year both teams are soo bad that I don’t see it being a very exciting game or perhaps for that very reason it will be.  Regardless,  I love Miami this week at home, there is no reason why they should go winless, John Beck will assume the starting position for the rest of the season, Ricky Williams has no choice, but to play well so he can at least get a 1 year contract and make enough to buy a bag of grass!  Ted Ginn Jr.  is coming around and him and Beck are creating valuable chemistry that will pay dividends next season.  The play is definantly Miami this week!  *Fantasy Impact:  I bet Ginn Jr.  is on the wire in many leagues simply because he had no one to throw him the ball, but I think all that changed, pick him and play him!  Willie Parker ran all over the Fins run D and I think Thomas Jones will do the same, but only at a flex position.  I don’t think either QB is worth starting, but desperate times calll for desperate measures so act accordingly.

Seattle
Philadelphia  -3  42

I was on the edge last Sunday as I watched the Seattle D allow St. Louis led by Gus Ferrote of all people march down the field on what would be their last possesion and see them get to the 1 yard line with Stephen Jackson in the backfield!  Luckily my boys held their ground oh and Gus Ferrote fumbled the snal on 4th down. (LMAO) What a scrub.  Well the point is that that kinda play is not gonna fly this week at Philly.  Philly seems to have found a flaw in the in-cred-i-ble (you have to say that in spanish for it to make sense) Patriots.  Honestly I think that was just a hiccup on the Pats part and although the Eagles are a good team they are definantly beatable and I think if Seattle can keep it together long enough they can get the job done.  DJ Hackett is out for the rest of the season, but it shouldn’t matter they are stacked at the WR spot and Mo Morris is solidifying his role as the starter and he should get Alexanders contract(but thats just my opinion).  It looks like McScrub oops I mean McNabb is coming back, but I think that just hurts them and Westbrook is healthy so thats not good for the Seattle D, they did give up the booty against Jackson so the damage could be catasrophic!  All this aside I think Hasselbeck studies Bradys game tape and picks apart the Philly secondary, it will be up to Westbrook to win it for them and I think Seattle needs this win to get over that hump and show everyone they belong in the playoffs despite how weak the NFC is.  I like Seattle plus the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  Do not play Mo Morris he will get stuffed.  Engram is now a #1 WR, I will definantly start him.  Westbrook will eat big I suspect, and its killing me inside.  Hasselbeck for sure, but not McScrub, I know I know all you McNabb owners are yelling and screaming and thinking I don’t know anything, but just wait and see.

Houston
Tennessee  -4  43

Both of these teams are desperate for a win.  Houston has a glimmer of chance for the playoffs and Tennessee is sputtering, they have completely shut down on the run game.  I mean its like they forgot??? Well they better remember because Houston D gave up 134 yards to old ass Jamal Lewis!  LenDale white should be able to carve out some ground, especially at home.  Houston is another prime example of a team of young guys that got alot of talent, but were plagued by injuries and never got a chance to get a rythem going, I expect big things from them next year.  That said I think Tennessee has more at stake and at home they should be able to get things going.  For some reason the spread is at 4 which is a tricky numberI think its worth buying the half point down to 3.5 just in case you get that 24-20 score.  So there it is the Titans buying it down to -3.5.  *Fantasy Impact:  If my theory holds true then I think Lendale White finally gets out of his slump this week,(man whats his deal???)  Vince Young is still too jittery and I don’t think there is much of a pass game to talked of.  I think Matt Schaub could put up some numbers, but then again my gut says no, so I translate that into either he has a killer game or e gets completely shut down…..flip a coin.

Jacksonville
Indianapolis  -7  45

Now this is a very intresting, the Jaguars are 8-3 and Indy has kinda been put in their place.  I think the Colts have lost their luster and they know it and while I stated previously a few weeks ago that I didn’t believe in the Jags, it looks as though I am eating those words.  The Jags are hungry and a healthy Gerrard is making all the difference.  There D is just getting it done and not making dumb mistakes.  They will definantly make Addai earn every yard and be a constant annoyance to Reggie Wayne and Peyton will eat turf a couple times.  Now this all might happen, but do I think it will be enough to get the W??? NO!  Peyton and company are too tough at home and have too much pride I think they will win, but its going to be close.  The Colts will win, but they WILL NOT cover the spread, take the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  I think this is gonna be a hard hitting defensive battle you gotta start your starters, but don’t get all giddy about it.

San Diego  -5  37.5
Kansas City

Man….Kansas City just can’t catch a break can they…LJ is back on the IR list, but Kolby Smith picked up the slack and made a game of it with 150 yards and a pair of TD’s, but then again that was against the Oakland run D which is shabadabadooooooooooo and thats being nice.  I highly doubt that Smith will have the same production against the Charger D.  LT broke the 10,000 yard bench mark, but had no TD’s and its really killing my fantasy team, jeez he was a disappointment.  I would hope that he would reach down and grab a pair and come through with a 50 point performance this week which is definantly acheiveable if Norv Turner will just let him run.  I think that KC got dealt a bad hand this season and know they just need to play for pride, but it won’t be enough to stop the Chargers, give the 5 points.  *Fantasy Impact:  My above statements say it all, start LT, bench Kolby Smith.  Phil-leap Rivers should have a decent game, but he better watch last weeks game tape.

San Francisco
Carolina  -2.5  35.5

San Fran finally got a W and Frank Gore came out to play last week.  In all truth it was the Cardinals that actually lost the game not San Fran winning it.  Carolina is still struggling to find an identity and it doesn’t look good in the foreseeable future.  They don’t have a QB and their best hope is poor old 44 yr old Vinny T.  I feel for him, I really do. I thought that Deshaun Foster might actually start earning his paycheck, but yet again I was disappointed last week.  The Panthers haven’t won a game at home this season and thats pitiful.  If Frank Gore comes out to play and Dilfer has the same kind of game as last week then its gonna be a long day for the Panthers.  Take San Fran and the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think Frank Gore is gold Jerry GOLD!!!  If you had to play Trent Dilfer then its ok.  In deeper leagues if you have a San Fran WR then it might make you smile.  I think that the San Fran D is a good matchup for Foster even though hes been flash in the pan lately.

Tampa Bay
New Orleans  -3  41.5

Tampa didn’t look particularly strong last week against Washington at home and this is discouraging especially since they are 7-4 and have a good chance to make the playoffs.  New Orleans looked like they were giving auditions, it seemed like everyone got a chance to run the ball and the Tampa run D is alot more stingy then the Carolina run D so the Saints better figure it out before Sunday. Brees is looking good in the air and I think his success continues at home.  If Earnest Grahm can get his ground game going then it should make for quite a game.  I think the Saints have been getting it done with Brees airing it out and he continues to do so this week.  The Bucs have been winning games, but I don’t think they are showing us anything special that makes me believe.  The Saints are the play and give the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  Pay attention to Colston and I think they stick with Bush this game instead of spreading it out.  You gotta go with Garcia if you have already been starting him, he should put up decent numbers.  Grahm obviously, but don’t expect much.

Cleveland
Arizona  -1  51.5

Kurt Warner threw for almost 500 yards last week and its not like Cleveland D is something to worry about.  This game should be a pick instead of 1 point, but the bookmakers want to screw with you.  I think that Lewis gets alot more touches this week and I don’t think that the AZ D can do anything about it.  Derek Anderson continues to play well and I don’t see any slowing down.  In the end I see a high scoring game and the winner will be the team that turns the ball over the least.  In this case I gotta go with the home team, take AZ.  *Fantasy Impact:  You gotta start every player from each team, neither one has a defense to speak of so that means big scores from alot of guys.

Denver  -3.5  42
Oakland

Denver found out the hard way last week that when you kick to Devin Hester it is not a good thing.  Oakland beat one of their most hated rivals in KC and Justin Fargus seems to have solidified his position at RB.  Denver has found a new hero in Andre Hall and as of this writing Selvin Young still looks inactive.  Oakland is notorious for giving up huge hards to opposing RB’s and with the way Hall ran on the Bears D he should get plenty more in Oakland.  Denver also gives up alot on the ground, but not enough.  Denver has the pass threat as well as the run and this makes them more potent and the winners this week in Oakland, however don’t get caught on the half point hook, you gotta buy it down to at least 3 points.  *Fantasy Impact:  I guess Fargus is the man in Oakland now so you gotta start him, Cutler should have a field day and connect with Stokely easily enough, but with these 2 teams nothing is consistent so beware.

NY Giants  -1.5  42.5
Chicago

Poor Poor Eli, I mean he got humiliated at home, and they were playing so well….The bears are no doubt fired up after Rexy threw that game winner, but the pass D was picked apart.  I don’t think Grossman has redeemed himself quite yet and lucky for him Adrian Peterson stepped up and took the pressure off him.  I think Eli gets it together this week and takes a long look at Cutlers games tape.  If Chicago can’t adjust its gonna be tough on them.  The offense will already have enough trouble with the Giants D and Rex may fold.  One thing is for sure, they will not be kicking to Hester. I think the Giants roll on Chicago who is not playing like they have in the past.  Give the lousy 1.5 points.  *Fantasy Impact:

Cincinnati
Pittsburgh  -7  48

Well well well….Palmer finally came out to play last week, god he was killing my team.  Pitt meanwhile got slowed by the weather and mud like turf more than the Miami D.  No doubt they will be looking to get back to business this week in more favorable weather.  The Cincy D actually put the stop on Tennessee last week and thats progress, so at least something positive is happening on that side of the ball.  They will have to make alot more this week if they want to slow down Big Ben and Willie Parker.  I think that Cincy is bringing it too little too late and Pitt is playoff bound no matter what, the spread is high and that means Cincy looks good, I like the Bengals and the points IF the D comes to play the offense will keep them in it.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think Cincy continues with the great offense and Pitt follows suit.  I would not start Rudi Johnson if you can help it, but then again you might not have a choice.  TJ should get some of those TD’s that newly appointed camera man Chad Johnson vultured from him.  Hines, Parker, and whats his name you know the guy I’m talking about should all be good starts.

MONDAY NIGHT

New England  -20.5  51.5
Baltimore

Baltimore has nothing going for them right now and I mean nothing.  New England is still a little shocked that they almost let the perfect season slip away to the likes of Philly and career backup A.J. Feely, they will shake that off by Monday night and will not get fooled again.  The spread says it all -20.5!!! Ray Lewis does not like that at all, it shows no respect.  The bookmakers have a point when you really think about it, the Balt D is no longer the top D, I don’t even think they are in the top 10, Brady is out for blood just to prove that they are the team everyone thought they were and the whole Philly debacle was just a hiccup.  This is going to be a one-sided beatdown and the Pats are blood thirsty!  However, 20.5 is alot, but not enough, don’t be scared of the big number its less than 3 TD’s.  Take the Pats light a candle and give the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  It seems like its the same line every week with the Pats, start’em ALL!!! Except for Jabroney, I mean Maroney, the Balt D can still stiffle the run.  On the Balt side I think you can start Mcgahee, but don’t expect a breakout game.

NFL Week 12 Betting Odds and Fantasy Football Preview

It’s an early week this week and as tradition continues we have 3 games on Turkey Day this year, 2 of which should be barn burners. Here is the list of matchups this week along with the spread and total as well as my picks and fantasy football commentary on what each matchup means for your players. *Bottom team listed is home team.

Green Bay  -3.5  47
Detroit

Detroit desperatly needs this win at home if they want to secure a wildcard bid.  Kitna had a great game if you don’t count those 3 INT’s.  It seemed like every player on the Lions team got some rec yds, but when they got in the red zone they just couldn’t get it done.  There D actually came to play and held the Giants run offense which is encouraging against the mess called the Packers run game.  Brett Favre meanwhile continues to light opposing defenses and I don’t see him slowing down anytime soon.  I mean its Brett Favre, enough said.  Take the Pack give the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think you see nothing but passing on Green Bays part which means Jennings, Jones, and Driver all day long.  Kitna threw for almost 400 yards last week and I think they go with the same strategy this week, so he should be good for decent number, the GB secondary isn’t that good, they just get name recognition thats all.  Kevin Jones could be limited, not sure and the GB RB’s are still suspect.

NY Jets
Dallas  -14.5  47.5

The Jets made me look like a devine prophet last week when they upset the Steelers as I predicted for the sleeper team of the week.  Clemens is the big dog in NY right now and I think he has accepted his role as the starter of the future and will take every chance he can to prove it.   He didn’t have a spectacular game last week, but you have to give him credit for the W.  This week against the Boys’ I think they struggle, but not the passing game.   Pitt secondary is alot better than the Dallas secondary so I expect it to be a another passing affair.  Dallas is solid right now, a little too solid, which means I like them  to falter at least a bit.  Despite that last comment, Dallas at home is just too much for the Jets right now and taking the Boys’ and giving the points is the play.  *Fantasy Impact:  Romo, Owens, and Barber are the main characters in this drubbing.  I think Cotchery is gold this week especially after his dismal performance last week, they jsut didn’t give it to him at all.  This is a ploy by Mangini to draw attention away from him,  and now that Coles is doubtful he will get the workload.  I also think that Thomas Jones will be worthy of a start based on the matchup and play calling.

Indianapolis  -12.5  41
Atlanta

What can I really say about this game other than that Atlanta has a golden opportunity to smack around the Colts.  Indy just barely beat KC at home and I think we can all agree that the Chiefs are shabadabadoooooooo.   So now even though ATL’s season is over they can still break hearts and honestly they need to just to have something to look forward to next season.  I think it would be good for professional football for ATL to put a thrashing on the Colts on Thanksgiving.  I doubt it will happen, but based on what we saw last week, I honestly think that the Falcons plus the points is a lock!!!  *Fantasy Impact:  I think Crumpler comes out of his injury prone slump and does something this week as well as Roddy White.  Dunn will get shut down and I am almost positive that Addai eats real big.  I think that Peyton gets a little bit back to normal and they win, but they won’t cover.

NFL Week 11 Fantasy Football Power Rankings

For fantasy owners its time to start looking ahead to the playoffs and making sure that your star player who has carried you all season is not riding the pine at the end of season because why risk it if they have already made the playoffs.  Start thinking ahead people!  Heres the power rankings for position in week 11 plus some commentary on individual matchups.

30 Brodie Croyle Chiefs @IND
31 Josh McCown Raiders @MIN
32 Tarvaris Jackson Vikings OAK

Notes:  Tom Brady is back and rested and looking for blood!  This whole Don Shula Asterisk crap is only fueling the fire and after Sunday Night they will call it the Buffalo Massacre!  Mark Bulger should continue his comeback tour with a bang against the scrubish San Fran D.  I think Baltimore D gets it together and shuts down Derek Anderson, they know they are better than that. My sleeper pick is John Beck….WHO? Yeah thats right the 2nd pick in the draft, he was brought in for the future and for the Fins the future is now!  If you have playoff aspirations in your fantasy league and can afford to pick him up I would definantly do it.  What if this guy pulls a Derek Anderson?  He would be extremely valuable at the end of the season when Brady and Manning aren’t taking as many snaps.  Think about it…..

47 Aaron Stecker Saints @HOU
48 Leonard Weaver Seahawks CHI
49 Pierre Thomas Saints @HOU
50 Michael Robinson 49ers STL

Notes:  Honestly I think Westbrook should be number 1 this week, his matchup is just too sweet.  If Maurice Morris can have a decent night against San Fran then what do you think Stephen Jackson is gonna do?(BIG NUMBERS)  Cester Taylor is over rated, don’t fool yourself.  Bradon Jacobs should be a great start and finally, if Selvin Young plays then I think you give him a chance.  Addai is out for blood and I think the sorry ass Kansas City D is on the menu.

Wide Receivers:

1 Randy Moss Patriots @BUF
2 Reggie Wayne Colts KC

46 Chris Chambers Chargers @JAC
47 Amani Toomer Giants @DET
48 Mike Furrey Lions NYG
49 Keenan McCardell Redskins @DAL
50 Craphonso Thorpe Colts KC

Notes:  Obviously from my previous statement that if you own a Pats WR you are smiling, I think Baltimore gets it together this week and thats good for Derrick Mason especially since Boller is throwing to him.  So if Balt gets it together then I think Braylon Edwards may disappoint this week despit the heavy injuries in the secondary, I know it defys logic so just call it a fate thing.  I predicted that the Jets would come alive with Clemens at Q so I think that spells points for Cotchery and Coles(if hes healthy).  Chris Henry will likely start sharing more and more with Housh which sucks for me cause I own Hous, but I think there may be enough to go around.

Tight Ends:

1 Antonio Gates Chargers @JAC
2 Kellen Winslow Browns @BAL
3 Tony Gonzalez Chiefs @IND
4 Jason Witten Cowboys WAS

27 Will Heller Seahawks CHI
28 Bo Scaife Titans @DEN
29 Marcedes Lewis Jaguars SD
30 Matt Spaeth Steelers @NYJ
31 David Martin Dolphins @PHI
32 Sean McHugh Lions NYG

Notes:  I like Owen Daniels, hes rested and due for some magic.  Gates will probably get used a bit more especially since he was neglected last week, just not sure how good the JAX D wants to be yet.  I have no idea why Tony Gonzalez is ranked so high, especially against a mean, disgruntled, upset, wounded animal like the Indy D.  Finally, I don’t understand what happened to Greg Olsen last week, they were treating him like the fat girl at the dance.  That has got to change, especially since hes my fantasy team TE!

Kickers:

1 Stephen Gostkowski Patriots @BUF
2 Nick Folk Cowboys WAS
3 Jeff Reed Steelers @NYJ
4 Rob Bironas Titans @DEN
5 Josh Brown Seahawks CHI
6 Mason Crosby Packers CAR

27 Sebastian Janikowski Raiders @MIN
28 Morten Andersen Falcons TB
29 Matt Bryant Buccaneers @ATL
30 Josh Scobee Jaguars SD
31 Mike Nugent Jets PIT
32 Dave Rayner Chiefs @IND

Notes:  Ok Stephen Gostkowski will get alot of points, but they will only be extra points, so don’t get too excited if you have him. I’m looking for a kicker that gets forced to kick alot of FG’s and this week I like Josh Brown.  (Plus I’ll be at the Seattle game, hehehe)

Defenses:

1 Green Bay Packers CAR
2 Pittsburgh Steelers @NYJ
3 New England Patriots @BUF
4 Philadelphia Eagles MIA
5 New York Giants @DET
6 Seattle Seahawks CHI
7 Indianapolis Colts KC
8 Tennessee Titans @DEN
9 Dallas Cowboys WAS
10 Minnesota Vikings OAK
11 Detroit Lions NYG
12 Jacksonville Jaguars SD
13 Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ATL
14 Baltimore Ravens CLE
15 San Diego Chargers @JAC
16 Chicago Bears @SEA
17 Atlanta Falcons TB
18 St. Louis Rams @SF
19 New Orleans Saints @HOU
20 Oakland Raiders @MIN
21 Carolina Panthers @GB
22 Kansas City Chiefs @IND
23 Denver Broncos TEN
24 Cincinnati Bengals ARI
25 San Francisco 49ers STL
26 Cleveland Browns @BAL
27 Arizona Cardinals @CIN
28 Houston Texans NO
29 New York. Jets PIT
30 Washington Redskins @DAL
31 Miami Dolphins @PHI
32 Buffalo Bills NE

Notes:  First of all, GB defense is not that good, its just that the Panthers are that bad!  Pitt D hasn’t been all peaches and cream on the road and besides that I like the Jets in the upset.  Seattle D should give Rexy a thorough harrassing all night and I am forecasting at least 2 picks and 1 fumble recovery.  Minnesota’s D is just in a funk right now and they will take out their frustrations on Oakland for sure.

NFL Week 11 Betting Odds and Fantasy Football Preview

The second half of the NFL season is in full swing and the playoff picture is getting clearer and clearer. Heres the week 11 matchups and betting spreads and totals as well as the fantasy impact each matchup presents for players and their production (bottom team is home team):

San Diego
Jacksonville  -2.5  40.5

Both teams are coming off huge wins and with those wins gave themselves second chances at playoff runs.  San Diego came off with an upset and intercepted Manning 6 times!  So right about now the Chargers are feeling pretty good about themselves and it might just spell there demise.  For one thing Rivers only threw for 104 yds, and LT was held to just 75yds.  The Chargers defense/special teams is what won the game and forunately the bookmakers realize it by giving them +2.5 points.  The Jaguars surprised everyone as well with a thumping of Tennessee and yet again it was the Defense that won it for them. They literally became a brick wall anytime the Titans tried to run.(Lendale White lost me my game last week, scrub!)  Anyways, it’s going to be a defensive game and definantly low scoring.  But I like Jacksonville with the return of David Gerrard at the Q, take the Jags give the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  Personally I might not start LT this week, think about that.  Also bench Young if you haven’t already.

Kansas City
Indianapolis  -14.5  44

If Selvin young can run for +100 and a TD on the KC defense then what do you think Joseph Addia is going to do to them especially after a frustrating loss to SD last week.  Huard is no match for the Indy D lineman and really without LJ running the rock the future just doesn’t seem that bright.  If Indy doesn’t cover the 14.5 then its because they lost it for themselves. Take Indy give the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  Addia owners are going to be giddy on Sunday, Peyton will rebound from his 6 Int’s last week and put up at least 30 points.  If your stuck with Priest Holmes, I’m sorry.

Oakland
Minnesota  -5.5  35.5

I think this matchup will be like 2 sumo wrestlers trying to push each other around, but really not going far.  Minnesota’s season came to an abrupt stop last week when Rookie RB Adrian Peterson tore his LCL which may not be season ending but whenever the return is it will be too little too late.  Oakland’s run game isn’t hurt it just seems to have become non-existant, and will fare no better against the Vikings run D.  This will be a very los scoring game and just a bunch of pushing and shoving.  Oakland D will have to step and stop Chester Taylor, but I doubt it.  Vikings will cover the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  I wouldn’t play any players from either team except for the Vikings D and Chester Taylor, but even thats a little risky.

Cleveland  -2.5  43.4
Baltimore

If Cleveland wants to prove they can make the playoffs then they better not screw up this week!  Baltimore is just being punished lately and it seems like they enjoy it because I haven’t seen any change in their game.   The Brownies were sooo close last week, (the crowd always loves an upset) but alas Big Ben stepped up and put an end to all the dreams.   I really like Cleveland to bounce back and the way the Ravens secondary has been playing, Braylon Edwards should be running circles around them.  The Ravens need to get back to .500 to keep the development going in that club if they don’t then the rest of the season is a waste. Cleveland is gonna roll on them, give the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  Michael Clayton should have a decent game if McNair can get it together.  Both Edwards and Winslow should be great and Jamal Lewis will suffer.

Pittsburgh  -9.5  40.5
NY Jets

The Jets were officially eliminated from the playoffs in week 10 and now they need to focus on building for the future and they have alot of young guys getting invaluable experience because there is no pressure, its all learning experience. Pittsburgh just about lost it for themselves last week, but sure enough they come from behind and win by a field goal.  It sucks!  Anyways this seems like the perfect time for the Jets to pull off the upset and get a jump start for next season.  This is my upset pick of the week!!! Jets win straight up!  *Fantasy Impact:  Kellen Clemens is getting the start, he won’t have a great game, but he should put up decent numbers which will in turn feed Laverneous Coles and Jerricho Cotchery.  I’m sure Willie Parker will get his +100 yds and a TD, I think Big Ben has a brain fart this week and they lose.

Tampa Bay  -3  35.5
Atlanta

Has anyone else noticed that Atlanta has won 2 games in a row!  Somehow by the grace of the football gods, Joey Harrington has managed to gel a bit with his team and put together some pretty great drives nothing spectacular but enough to get the job done.  They are mixing it up.  It seems to be working and although they didn’t beat great teams, Tampa Bay is far from being a great team.  Surprisingly Atlanta still has a shot in the NFC South and I like them at home.  Tampa is coming off the bye and should be rested, but I think they are still conflicted about ow to move the ball and the Defense is shaky.  I like the Falcons plus the points at home.  *Fantasy Impact:  Roddy White should be gold this week and Warrick Dunn if you have to start him is ok.  I hope Alge can get a couple in there.  Ernest Grahm will get the work load this week and it should pay off.

Arizona
Cincinnati  -3  48.5

Cincinnati got a much needed win last week and they did it without a passing game or a running game. Shayne Graham kicked 7 field goals to win the game.   I hope thats not their new strategy for my fantasy teams sake.  You got to hand it to the Cincy D they finally got tired of everyone writing about how bad they were and buckled down and got the W.  They need to get back on track and get that talen filled offense clicking again, this could be the week.  Arizona stuffed Detroit who was on fire, but I’m not so sure it wasn’t just dumb luck.  The Cardinals have to figure out the move at QB, this swapping technique isn’t productive.  Boldin is still hurt and it shows.  This puts the burden on Edge and if the Cincy D repeats their performance from last week it could be a long day for the Cards.  I like Cincy to get their groove back and stick it to the Cards, give the points! *Fantasy Impact:  If my theory holds true then all the Bengals are good starts. You have to start Edge and Fitzy, but I would consider your options with Boldin, hes admitted hes not 100% and probably won’t be for a while.

Miami
Philadelphia  -10  40.5

Miami is coming off a tough loss, I called it last week that they would win and they had it all but locked up and then a couple mistakes at the end cost them the game. Heartbreaking for Miami fans, I feel for ya.  Philly went the usual Westbrook ground and pound method that seems to work and will also be successful against the Fin’s D.  Miami is still in try out mode, but Jesse Chatman made a good case with 124 yds last week.  This week the Fins will start John Beck at the Q, a move that many felt should have happened a long time ago considering he was the player drafted for the future.  The -10 point spread make me nervous, because what if Beck comes out and has some fairy tale game his first start and pull a Derek Anderson.  Its this fear alone that makes me think that Dolphins plus the points is the play.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think that if your the guy in your league that has already been eliminated from the playoffs you should roll the dice and pick up Beck because if hes a star wouldn’t it be great to pull the upset on the guy who already wrote you off this week. LOL.   Westbrook will no doubt be huge and Chatman should be good in a flex position.

Washington
Dallas  10.5  47

A classic rivalry.  Basically the Skin’s will have to use Portis to carry the load and let Campbell get comfortable and then let him loose.  I think Dallas’ D can be exploited and you just have to pretty much hope you can keep up with Tony Romo, not so easy.  Washington just isn’t ready this year, they have to win to stay in the race, but I don’t see it, now I do believe they will cover the points, but wait until later in the week and it will go to 11, the public loves Dallas they will move the number for you.  *Fantasy Impact:  You gotta play your RB’s from these teams, they have been consistant.  Romo and TO are no brainers and in fact I like Ladell Betts to finally step up and break away with one.

New Orleans
Houston    -1  47.5

This could be another yawner game.  New Orleans proved that they are schitzo and you cannot trust them.  Houston is still building a team, but is capable of putting up big plays.  Everyone it thinking a high scoring game but I think its going to be a bore. By the way the 1 point doesn’t matter always take the home team in situations like this, Houston is the play.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think Colston is a solid play, but Bush will get shut down. Not sure on Houston’s side they spread the ball out too much to lock on to solid starter.

Carolina
Green Bay -10  37.5

The Panthers have pretty much nothing else to play for except pride and are extremely injury plagued.  Green Bay is still on a roll and is now in a race for home field advantage with Dallas.  I think Carolina is so discombobulated right now that I can’t even talk about it.  Green Bay giving the points is a lock!  *Fantasy Impact:  Gotta play all Green Bay players.  Steve Smiff has no one to throw him the ball and the Packers secondary will be all over him, hes a bust! Deshaun Foster is questionable so check on him later in the week, if hes playing you gotta start him, I know I will be forced to.

St. Louis  -3  40.5
San Francisco

The 9ers got thumped and stumped in Seattle last Monday and Coach Nolan made sure that everyone knew it by going for it on 4th 3 times!  St. Louis had a bit of a resurrection last week as predicted by yours truely.  Bulger went out and said hes had enough and did what he had to do to get the W.  Stephen Jackson made his presense known and helped to take the pressure off Bulger.  San Fran has nothing in the works that makes you think they will pull out the slump anytime soon and Frank Gore is average at best.  I like the Rams to continue their winning ways this week, they will cover.  *Fantasy Impact:  Bulger is a must start if you have a choice.  Jackson will gain more momentum at the expense of the San Fran D.  Frank Gore is shabby and should be a flex position start.

Chicago
Seattle  -6  37.5

Rex is back in the saddle in Chicago and is looking like leading a lamb to the slaughter in the eyes of the Seattle defense.  Seattle will go to the air no doubt, but have a renewed confidence in the run game after Maurice Morris proved he could handle the load, he is looking more and more like the future in Seattle.  Hasselbeck put up good numbers, but nothing to brag about against the San Fran D, he will have to do better against da Bears if he wants to cover the spread.  I think that Seattle is looking for payback after last years playoff loss in over time and they need this win to stay in the chase.  Seattle will cover the 6.  Also I will be at the game on the 20 yard line, I’ll be the guy in the leather jacket with a group of drunk bastards.  *Fantasy Impact:  Morris is a solid start at your backup RB position or flex. Hasselbeck will have a good game.  I think Cedric Benson will get the brunt of the load and have a good game.  Seattle D will no doubt have a huge game and I like them to put up 15 – 20 points from turn overs, INT’s and special teams.

NY Giants  -2.5  49.5
Detroit

For some reason Mike Martz abandoned the run last week and look what happens, they lose to Arizona.  If they keep it up the Giants D is going to have some fun with Jon Kitna and hes going to the only one not smiling.  They need to get Kevin Jones the ball and let him do his thing and then drop the long bomb to surprise them.  The Giants are going to keep up the Brandon Jacobs campaign and mix it up with Burress if hes healthy which I think he is.  If the Lions don’t get it together it could be a long day, but if they see the light like I think they will then I like them at home plus the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  Look for Jones to recoup some points from last week.  Jacobs should eat big against a run D that gives up ALOT of fantasy points.  Manning should be fine and so should Kitna.  Keep checking on Burress throughout the week and don’t forget to weigh your options with Detroit receivers.

Sunday Night Football

New England  -16  47
Buffalo

Originally Seattle was supposed to play on Sunday night, but it got switched and I still don’t know why, it sucks because I am going to the Seattle game and now I have to change my plans, my buddy is all pissed off because hes a Bears fan and hes coming with me, so when he asked me why they changed the time I simply told him that no one cares about seeing the Seahawks thump da Bears.  It would be much more satisfying to see the Pats thump the Bills.  HE HE HE.  The Pats are fully rested after the bye and are eager to get back to buisness.  Tom Brady will make an expample of the Bills D and they will most certainly get the ground game plenty of practice.  The Bills have to settle with JP Losman back in the top spot and his past 2 performances were suspect, VERY suspect!  The Pats will win handidly, but there is another betting rule we have to exercise here, you cannot give the home team double digit points!  Exercise constrant and put just a little on the Bills plus the points, if you can’t stomach the thought then just leave the game alone.  *Fantasy Impact:  Well, where do I start?  ALL NEW ENGLAND PLAYERS! Marshawn Lynch is hurt so I got nothing left to say.

Monday Night Football

Tennesse
Denver  -2  37.5

Tennessee let me down tremendously last week, in particular Lendale White.  I mean they just did not do anything right.  Neither quarterback is performing as expected and there is just a feeling of frustration when I think about these 2.  Selvin Young made a case for the top spot at RB last week and the Titans D showed they couldn’t stop a ground game.  Denver D has temporarily come alive, but I’m not sure if its a lasting effect.  I think Denver at home always has an edge because of the altitude so the -2 kinda hedges it.  I think Denver is the play here based on science.  I know its lazy, but I’m tired.  *Fantasy Impact:  After last week you gotta give Selvin Young a chance. I think Cutler is a bad play.  Lendale White should come back alive, but I’m not betting on it, just wishful thinking.  I feel like Vince Young should do something, but I can’t explain it, so you figure it out.

On Saturday November 17th, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the first time ever 2 Ultimate Fighter winners will square off against each other in the stacked Light-Heavyweight division.  From Ultimate Fighter 2 winner 15-0-1 “Suger” Rashad Evans will make his case for a shot at the Light-Heavyweight belt against fellow contender and Ultimate Fighter 3 winner 15-0-0 Michael “The Count” Bisping.  The winner will most likely have a shot at taking on the powerhouse and current Light-Heavyweight champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.  Listed Below are the matchups as well as the current fight lines with a preview and my picks:

bisping2.jpgThe Main Event:evans.jpg
Michael “The Count” Bisping 15-0-0 vs “Sugar” Rashad Evans 15-0-1

Bisping +210(risk $100 to win $210)
Evans -280(risk $280 to win $100)

This line is suggesting that is will be a one-sided fight in favor of Evans, this seems very wrong, Bisping has demonstrated all the characteristics of a champ and has been crushing his opponents.  To give more than 2 to 1 on your money seems ludicris!  I can understand why Evans is soo heavily favored, hes coming off a draw against Tito Ortiz and most thought that had it gone another round that Evans would have got the victory.  Evans is in tip top form and is a powerful striker on his feet.  On the ground both fighters are extremely dangerous which would lead me to believe that Evans will utilize his striking to keep Bisping at bay.  With a line like this its tough to make a pick and when in doubt always and I mean ALWAYS take the dog!  Getting more than +200 is always a good bet in UFC because one well placed punch and the fight could be over, plus I don’t think Bisping is getting the respect he should be getting. It could come back to haunt the bookmakers.  Keep checking back for more updates and fightlines for the rest of the fight card.

NFL Week 10 Fantasy Football Power Rankings

Time again for the Week 10 Fantasy Football Power Rankings, there are a ton of tough matchups this week and its going to be tough to pick out the diamonds in the rough as well as have the discipline to recognize a bad matchup and perhaps bench a starter, but lets take a look and see if I can spread some light on the subject.

Quarterbacks:

1 Tony Romo Cowboys @NYG

2 Drew Brees Saints STL

3 Ben Roethlisberger Steelers CLE

4 Peyton Manning Colts @SD

5 Brett Favre Packers MIN

6 Matt Hasselbeck Seahawks SF

7 Eli Manning Giants DAL

8 Carson Palmer Bengals @BAL

9 Derek Anderson Browns @PIT

10 Kurt Warner Cardinals DET

11 J.P. Losman Bills @MIA

12 Donovan McNabb Eagles @WAS

13 Marc Bulger Rams @NO

14 Jon Kitna Lions @ARI

15 Damon Huard Chiefs DEN

16 Philip Rivers Chargers IND

17 Jason Campbell Redskins PHI

18 Steve McNair Ravens CIN

19 Brian Griese Bears @OAK

20 Vince Young Titans JAC

21 Joey Harrington Falcons @CAR

22 Josh McCown Raiders CHI

23 Jay Cutler Broncos @KC

24 Cleo Lemon Dolphins BUF

25 Alex Smith 49ers @SEA

26 Vinny Testaverde Panthers ATL

27 Quinn Gray Jaguars @TEN

28 Brooks Bollinger Vikings @GB

I’m not sure why Romo is ranked #1, (probably because Brady is on a bye week) I think he struggles this week agianst the harrassment of the Giants D. Derek Anderson is going to get is clock cleaned against Pittsburgh. Griese should have a decent day against Oakland, and unless you haven’t already benched him, don’t count on Phillip Rivers to do anything spectacular against Indy. Sleeper pick is Marc bulger finally getting a win at New Orleans, hes due!

Running Backs:

1 Joseph Addai Colts @SD

2 Adrian Peterson Vikings @GB

3 LaDainian Tomlinson Chargers IND

4 Willie Parker Steelers CLE

5 Marshawn Lynch Bills @MIA

6 Reggie Bush Saints STL

7 Willis McGahee Ravens CIN

21 Travis Henry Broncos @KC

22 Maurice Jones-Drew Jaguars @TEN

23 Warrick Dunn Falcons @CAR

24 Steven Jackson Rams @NO

45 Najeh Davenport Steelers CLE

46 Brian Leonard Rams @NO

47 Vernand Morency Packers MIN

48 Jason Wright Browns @PIT

49 Ladell Betts Redskins PHI

50 Michael Turner Chargers IND

Both Jamal Lewis and Willie Parker should strongly be considered bench material this week, this is going to be an air attack matchup. DeShaun Foster is a lock for big points against the shabby Atlanta D. Cedric Benson will finally produce against the sub par Raiders run D. Marshawn Lynch owners should not start getting excited, Miami D is old but they been rested and they desperatly need to establish some defensive presense. Stephen Jackson is a game time decision, but even if he were healthy I don’t like him against the stingy NO D.

Wide Receivers:

1 Reggie Wayne Colts @SD

2 Terrell Owens Cowboys @NYG

3 Plaxico Burress Giants DAL

4 T.J. Houshmandzadeh Bengals @BAL

5 Braylon Edwards Browns @PIT

6 Hines Ward Steelers CLE

7 Santonio Holmes Steelers CLE

17 Roy Williams Lions @ARI

18 Kevin Curtis Eagles @WAS

19 Chad Johnson Bengals @BAL

20 Steve Smith Panthers ATL

21 Roddy White Falcons @CAR

22 Patrick Crayton Cowboys @NYG

23 Reggie Brown Eagles @WAS

24 David Patten Saints STL

25 Derrick Mason Ravens CIN

26 D.J. Hackett Seahawks SF

27 Marvin Harrison Colts @SD

28 Amani Toomer Giants DAL

29 Deion Branch Seahawks SF

30 Dwayne Bowe Chiefs DEN

31 Muhsin Muhammad Bears @OAK

32 Chris Chambers Chargers IND

33 Brandon Stokley Broncos @KC

34 Calvin Johnson Lions @ARI

35 Mark Clayton Ravens CIN

36 James Jones Packers MIN

37 Ronald Curry Raiders CHI

38 Marty Booker Dolphins BUF

39 Bernard Berrian Bears @OAK

40 Chris Henry. Bengals @BAL

41 Shaun McDonald Lions @ARI

42 Jerry Porter Raiders CHI

43 Mike Furrey Lions @ARI

44 Ted Ginn Jr. Dolphins BUF

45 Isaac Bruce Rams @NO

46 Sidney Rice Vikings @GB

47 Santana Moss Redskins PHI

48 Vincent Jackson Chargers IND

49 Roydell Williams Titans JAC

50 Joe Jurevicius Browns @PIT

The Detroit WR’s have steadily dropped in the rankings and this is due in part to Kitna being conservative, I think all this changes this week, I am look for big numbers out of Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams. Tory Holt’s worth has jumped on the preminition that Bulger is getting a W this week and hes going to need every bit of Holt to get it done. Patrick Crayton didn’t get a single catch last week and I think he will continue to disappoint owners. Boldin is healthy and should get back on track this week, IF Kurt Warner is playing. Steve Smiff could be the Panthers knight is shining armor if good ol’ Vinny gets the start which is looking more and more like a reality. Bobby Engram should be ranked higher as Seattle only knows how to pass and San Fran’s secondary is proving to be more useless every week. And finally, TO is going to be shut down, I know it hurts you owners to hear this, but sometimes the truth hurts.

Tight Ends:

1 Antonio Gates Chargers IND

2 Kellen Winslow Browns @PIT

3 Tony Gonzalez Chiefs DEN

4 Jason Witten Cowboys @NYG

5 Dallas Clark Colts @SD

6 Chris Cooley Redskins PHI

7 Heath Miller Steelers CLE

8 Jeremy Shockey Giants DAL

9 Greg Olsen Bears @OAK

10 Vernon Davis 49ers @SEA

11 Donald Lee Packers MIN

12 Tony Scheffler Broncos @KC

13 L.J. Smith Eagles @WAS

14 Desmond Clark Bears @OAK

15 Jeff King Panthers ATL

16 Eric Johnson Saints STL

17 Quinn Sypniewski Ravens CIN

18 Randy McMichael Rams @NO

19 Zach Miller Raiders CHI

20 Marcedes Lewis Jaguars @TEN

21 Bo Scaife Titans JAC

22 Robert Royal Bills @MIA

23 Matt Spaeth Steelers CLE

24 Visanthe Shiancoe Vikings @GB

25 Leonard Pope Cardinals DET

26 Reggie Kelly Bengals @BAL

27 John Madsen Raiders CHI

28 Will Heller Seahawks SF

I think the rankings pretty much speak for themselves, I haven’t seen too many outstanding performances by sleepers this year and this weeks matchups give me no reason to believe otherwise.

Kickers:

1 Matt Stover Ravens CIN

2 Jeff Reed Steelers CLE

3 Rob Bironas Titans JAC

4 Josh Brown Seahawks SF

5 Nick Folk Cowboys @NYG

6 Neil Rackers Cardinals DET

7 Adam Vinatieri Colts @SD

8 Mason Crosby Packers MIN

9 Robbie Gould Bears @OAK

10 Nate Kaeding Chargers IND

11 Lawrence Tynes Giants DAL

12 Jay Feely Dolphins BUF

13 Shaun Suisham Redskins PHI

14 Rian Lindell Bills @MIA

15 Jason Hanson Lions @ARI

16 Phil Dawson Browns @PIT

17 David Akers Eagles @WAS

18 John Kasay Panthers ATL

19 Sebastian Janikowski Raiders CHI

20 Jason Elam Broncos @KC

21 Ryan Longwell Vikings @GB

22 Olindo Mare Saints STL

23 Morten Andersen Falcons @CAR

24 Shayne Graham Bengals @BAL

25 Joe Nedney 49ers @SEA

26 Jeff Wilkins Rams @NO

27 Dave Rayner Chiefs DEN

28 John Carney Jaguars @TEN

Matt Stover is ranked #1 this week because of the inability of the Ravens O to find the endzone, he’s all they got! Phil Dawson should be a good play especially when you condiser the Pittsburgh D in the redzone.

Defenses:

1 Tennessee Titans JAC

2 Pittsburgh Steelers CLE

3 New Orleans Saints STL

4 Kansas City Chiefs DEN

5 Green Bay Packers MIN

6 Carolina Panthers ATL

7 Seattle Seahawks SF

8 Baltimore Ravens CIN

9 Jacksonville Jaguars @TEN

10 Chicago Bears @OAK

11 Detroit Lions @ARI

12 Washington Redskins PHI

13 Philadelphia Eagles @WAS

14 Arizona Cardinals DET

15 Oakland Raiders CHI

16 Dallas Cowboys @NYG

17 New York Giants DAL

18 Buffalo Bills @MIA

19 Indianapolis Colts @SD

20 Minnesota Vikings @GB

21 Atlanta Falcons @CAR

22 San Diego Chargers IND

23 Miami Dolphins BUF

24 Denver Broncos @KC

25 Cincinnati Bengals @BAL

26 San Francisco 49ers @SEA

27 Cleveland Browns @PIT

28 St. Louis Rams @NO

The Colts D should get a little more credit than this ranking is giving as well as the Giants for sure. I really think they shut down the Cowboys this week. Jacksonville makes me nervous, Drew Brees picked them apart. The Saints D is a hoax! It is St. Louis’ turn to win and Bulger is going to eat them up. The Seahawks will no doubt demolish the 49ers again much the way they did the first time they met, I think the D scored something like 28 points!

NFL Week 10 Betting Odds and Fantasy Football Commentary

Week 10 is full of tough matchups that will most likely make or break most teams. Heres a list of all the week 10 matchups with the current spreads and totals.  Also I have included some fantasy football commentary on the effects on how each matchup  will impact the respective fantasy players.  *Note, all spreads are subject to constact change and the bottom team listed is the home team.

Buffalo -3   40.5
Miami

J.P. Losman will get his second start in a row this week after getting the W against Cincy.  Buffalo has won 4 of their last 5 games and look like they are starting to find the formula to winning, while I don’t think they will advance far this year they are a team to watch for next season, but in the meanwhile I can see them finishing strong this year.  Miami is horrendous, I mean they are not good at all! They did surprise everyone by covering the spread a few weeks ago against the Giants in London, but they have no offense to speak of and their once revered defense is getting old and running out of steam. Miami is due for a win and coming off a bye week should be rested, I think Miami gets a W this week despite the lack of personel. Take Miami and the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  Marshawn Lynch may be limited this week I would only start him in a flex position. Lee Evans will no doubt have a huge game and lastly I think that Jesse Chatman will finally get decent enough points to make him your second starter.
Cleveland
Pittsburgh -9.5   47.5

Pittsburgh absolutley crushed the Ravens on Monday Night Football. Big Ben was on hit, it seemed like no matter how much pressure the Ravens brought, Big Ben held his composure and burned the secondary on the deep ball more than a couple times.  Cleveland just barely eeked out a win in OT against a less than impressive Seahawks team, and the same effort will not be even close to enough to challenge the Steelers at home.  Bottom line, Pitt is looking like a contender, while Cleveland is still learning to play together but are making big time progress.  Cleveland doesn’t have the D to contend with Big Ben and company.  Pitt giving the points, no doubt.  *Fantasy Impact:   Most Cleveland players that were putting up big numbers will most likely struggle a bit, be weary of your options.  Pittsburgh D is a no brainer, I really like Santonio Holmes to eat big and both Willie Parker and Jamal Lewis should be safe starts.

St. Louis
New Orleans -11.5   45.5

We are looking at a caged wounded animal scenario here for St. Louis.  They have nothing left to play for except their pride and their jobs for next season.  Then you have New Orleans who is literally fight for its post season life which is haning by a very thin thread.  I won’t say that New Orleans is playing to their potential but they are playing better as proven with 4 straight wins.  11.5 points is alot to make New Orleans give, if you believe that the Saints are back in top form then it should be no problem, but if you believe that they will falter under a false sense of confidence then the Rams are the play, take the points! *Fantasy Impact:  If you like my last little comment then Marc Bulger should finally point up some worthy numbers of a starter.  Bush will most likely find the endzone at least once while Marques Colston should continue to make fantasy owners smile.

Jacksonville
Tennessee -4.5

The Titans are doing what they can, the Defense is making them.  Lendale White is bringing it all together and Vince Young is doing what he can while NOT losing the game for them.  Jacksonville desperately needs David Gerrard to get back in the saddle, the offense is lost without him. Both teams are fighting for a wild card and you can’t count out Jacksonville to bring the upset. I have to take Jacksonville plus the points in this, they are due.  *Fantasy Impact:  I like all the Titans players as long as they are Lendale White and the Titans D, bench the rest.  Jacksonville really needs Fred Taylor to step up and I think he does it this week.

Denver
Kansas City -3.5

This is definantly the yaaaaawn game of the week, neither of these teams have anything exciting to offer except a run game.  One note of intrest may be that Priest Holmes, that legendary fantasy player from years past might just actually start this week as a walk on to the KC offense.  Travis Henry will most likely play again.  Bradon Stokely is now the supposed golden boy in Denver, but if KC could hold Favre to limited production I expect them to put the hurt on Cutler. Kansas City at home is the play give the points.  *Fantasy Impact:  It will be a running game all day so expect Henry and whoever gets the start at RB for Denver to produce.  I don’t like Cutler at all this week and Huard is probably still on waiver wire in most leagues so leave him there!  Not sure what else to say, I just don’t like either of these teams and I think its going to be a sloppy game.

Atlanta
Carolina -4   36

The Panthers are winless at home so far this year and that should raise some red flags! David Carr is still struggling to find a rythem with the offense and I just don’t trust him yet.  Atlanta has its own barrel of problems to deal with, Harrington needs to get pulled and give Leftwich a real chance, after all thats what they brought him in for.  Atlanta pretty much is playing for pride, they know their season is going nowhere and now everyone is playing for a job next year, but I doubt it will be enough.  Carolina will cover the 4 points on the back of Deshaun Foster.  *Fantasy Impact:  I gave up on Crumpler a long time ago, and it stung because I drafted him as my 1st pick for TE, Big Mistake! He might not even play this week.  Deshaun Foster should put up big numbers against a weak Falcon D and Roddy White should get at least a couple of long boms thrown to him, its up to him to catch them, so the potential is there.

Philadelphia
Washington -2.5   38

Philly got destroyed last week and it looked like they gave up at the start of the second half, I mean they were down by 28 and McNabb is throwing little dump passes out to the flat, what the hell is that all about! There is no fire in Philly anymore, they need a makeover.  Meanwhile the Skins are playing about as good as anyone expected, and Clinton Portis has managed to stay healthy which was a big concern at the beginning of the season.  Both teams will rely heavily on the run game so its going to be a clock management game I expect.  Philly is 0-3 thus far in their division and I really feel they are done this year so I expect them to go 0-4.  Take Washington give the measly 2.5 points, its nothing. *Fantasy Impact:  While I feel McNabb is over the hill I do believe he will esploit the Skin’s secondary and should put up decent numbers which means Moss will eat. Both Portis and Westbrook are safe starts as usual.

Minnesota
Green Bay -6.5   40.5

Both teams are coming off wins and while Brett Favre’s come from behind in the last 5 minutes was great, it was not nearly as nice as the drubbing that Minnesota put on San Diego.   Adrian Peterson cemented himself as the Rookie of the Year by breaking the single game rushing record with 296 yards on the ground.  Brett Favre seems to be leading the Packers back to the playoffs in what is most likely his last season in the league by using his patented no guts no glory approach…..it seems to be working.  Minnesota D will most likely shut down Ryan Grant, but the secondary makes me nervous.  I don’t think the Minnesota rushing game can keep up with Favre and Co. in the air.  I like the Packers to cover the points. *Fantasy Impact:  Packers D got chewed up by LJ and I’m not saying that Adrian Peterson is comparable to LJ YET… I do think he will easily break 100 yds with a couple TD’s, Favre is obviously a solid start.  Minnesota D will be harrasing Favre all night so i could see a couple sacks as well as an INT or 2.

Cincinnati
Baltimore -4.5   44.5

The Baltimore secondary was completly exploited on Monday night and suddenly the once revered Ravens defense is no longer such a big deal.  Steve McNair has shown that it may be too late for him as he was ineffective against the Steelers.  Willis McGahee will once again be the work horse for the Ravens and against the scrub Cincy defense its a sure bet that will be the most effective.  Palmer and co. should be able to attack the secondary and be quite effective, I see huge numbers for him and his crew.  Baltimore has shown weakness and Cincinnati desperatly needs a win.  Cincinnati plus the points and in fact you should be on the moneyline all day long.  *Fantasy Impact:  Palmer and his WR’s will finally break out of their slump that has been disappointing every one including me! McGahee will be money IF he plays, right now its a game time decision.  I doubt Derrick Mason will contribute much, McNair can’t get him the ball and for some reaosn they won’t throw Bowler in the mix.

Chicago -3   38
Oakland

Oakland is in a funk right now, Daunte Culpepper presented a hope, Lamont Jordan was the anchor, neither of them are doing squat!  Chicago has undergone its own makeover and it looks like Griese is up to the task.  The Bears running game is still very disappointing, but against the horrendous Raiders run D it should be effective enough. oakland just is not showing me anything to get excited about and I think da Bears are going to roll on them, give the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  Like I said, Cedrick Benson should fins some running room, enough to at least have in a flex position.  Griese should be hooking up with Greg Olsen all day and I’m sure Mohammad will get his fair share.  The Bears D is banged up right now and it is plausible that Justin Fargas will have a decent day.

Dallas -1.5   49
NY Giants

This is by far the matchup of the week.  The Giants are back to playoff form and the Cowboys have put themselves back in the limelight.   The Giants have won 6 straight games including that very unamerican and unneccessary trip to London. (what crap)  Anyways they are fresh off a bye week and looking good.  Brandon Jacobs is healthy and Eli and Plaxico are regular hookups each week, life is about as good as it could be in NY.  The Cowboys are turning it up again and stating a case for NFC supremecy, Romo just can’t be stopped, and TO is always open.  The Boys have also developed an efficient run game between Jones and Barber that was spotlighted against the Philly D last week.  This is a tough matchup to call, but in cases like this its always wise to take the home team, so there I said it.  Giants and the points!  *Fantasy Impact:  I think this will definantly be a shootout both in the air and on the ground, if you got’em start’em.  Everyone should eat big!

Detroit
Arizona -1   45

Detroit is making everyone believe and its good for football to have a mediocore team rise up and smack around traditionally good teams.  Kitna is a stud, hes taking what hes got to work with and goes out and gets it done.  Arizona is hoping that Kurt Warner can stay healthy because really he is all they have as far as a leader goes.  Edggerin should get plenty of touches against a Detroit run D that gets no respect and hopefully Boldin can get in the groove this week, his numbers have not been up to par lately.  Detroit is on the war path and AZ is just trying to survive, I see no reason why Detroit doesn’t win this game.  Take the 1 point, its meaningless but there won’t be a moneyline with the spread that low.  *Fantasy Impact:  I like all the Detroit players to produce except for Kevin Jones.  Boldin should produce as well as Fitzgerald.  Edge might not fair as well as expected.  Detroit D is a MUST START, they have been averagin 17 points a game in the last 3 games.
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Indianapolis -3.5   49
San Diego

San Diego is coming off a hard loss to Minnesota and the Chargers are obviously struggling to get back to previous form.  They will have their plates full with Indy who themselves are reeling from their first loss of the season at home at the hands of the hated Patriots.  If San Diego can get their S**T together I think that it will be close, but right now I just don’t see it happening, they got run over by a rookie, imagine what Addai is going to do to them. Plus the Charger secondary is not making the plays neccessary to make Peyton think twice.  This is going to be a blowout, take Indy give the points, and I like over the total.  *Fantasy Impact:  I want to say that LT will have a good day, but this far into the season he is making me nervous, Bob Sanders is going to have a field day and all the INDY offense will produce.  Antonio Gates should be money this week even after his disappointing showing last week, and Chargers D will get lit up, sit them on the pine.

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

San Francisco
Seattle -10   39.5

WHOO!!! -10 points!!!! are you kidding me, this is almost an invitation to jump on San Fran and maybe thats what the bookies want you to do, seeing as how San Fran is just not good at all.  Seattle on Monday Night Football is always a good bet, but when you consider the play calling out of big fat stupid Holmgren its hard to keep the faith.  San Fran is accepting the fact that this just isn’t their year, they had alot of potential at the beginning of the year, but injuries have crippled that teams spirit and returned them to their 3rd tier team status.  Seattle has the talent to cover and I think they will get it done on MNF.  Take Seattle give the points, San Fran is just that bad!!! *Fantasy Impact:  Bobby Engram is a must start, hes been putting up consistent numbers since getting the starting position, not sure if Deion Branch is going to be ready to come back to keep your eye on him.  Alexander is pretty much a coin toss, you cannot count on him.  Seattle D will be a huge contributer to your fantasy team this week.  Not sure why anyone would still have any San Fran players on there rosters so I’ll just leave it at that.

NFL Week 9 Matchup: Baltimore at Pittsburgh Betting Spread

Baltimore
Pittsburgh -9.5  36.5

Get out your Terrible Towel, Pittsburgh is looking tough except for that little hiccup against AZ.  The Ravens are coming off a bye week and are fully rested and fully prepared for an all too familiar foe.  Both Defenses will be hard hitting and bringing the blitz packages all day.  Big Ben is looking good and he should be able to handle it.  The playaction has been there bread and butter lately, but I’m not sure that it will fool the reveared Ravens D.  9.5 points is alot, but when you consider that Balt has no offense it would be reall easy for Pitt to take a 10 point lead and hold it. Take Pitt and give the points, this looks like another MNF blowout game that you turn off after the end of the 3rd quarter.  *Fantasy Impact:  I think Willie Parker will be limited and it will be more of an air game with Pitt, Big Ben should put up some decent numbers, but nothing ground breaking.  I would bench Derrick Mason, its not worth the aggrevation.  Both defenses are good to go and as for Hines 57 Ward, he will have a huge day!

NFL Week 9 Matchup: Dallas at Philadelphia Betting Spread

Dallas -3  46.5
Philadelphia

Yet another Sunday night game with Dallas and Philly. The Cowboys kinda fell off the map lately and I really think they have lost their luster and going into Philly you better bring your A-game.  I think that Dallas will look to exploit the Philly secondary and stray away from the run game, while Philly will most likely tie the rock to Westbrook’s hands and let him do his thing.  This is a divisional game and Philly really needs the W to even consider making a playoff run.  I like Philly at home, I don’t think the Dallas D will be able to stop Westbrook on the ground or in the air.  Take the points and watch Romo blow it.  *Fantasy Impact:  Westbrook is gold this week, TO will definantly find the endzone a couple times, and Witten is always reliable.  I would like to see Kevin Curtis have another good game, but I doubt it.
