Utah Utes 2009 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Utah Vs. California VS. 307982768 067bb5d399 2009 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Utah Vs. California

No.23 Utah Utes with an overall record this season of 9-3 from the Mountain West Conference have won eight straight bowl appearances, including last season’s Sugar Bowl against Alabama. California Golden Bears from PAC-10 with an overall record this season of 8-4 could have earned a trip to the Holiday Bowl by beating Washington but the Bears were routed in their season finale 42-10.

No.23 Utah Utes simply take great pride in performing well. They’ve won eight straight postseason games, the longest active run of success in the nation. The Utes lost their last game against BYU in the regular season and they are sure that won’t happen anymore, at least not on the bowl against the Golden Bears. QB Terrance Cain, RB
Eddie Wide, RB Matt Asiata, WR David Reed and WR Jereme Brooks are the key ingredients in the Utes mix, all they need to do is what they have done all year long. The Utes average 29.3 points scored and only 19.7 points received which is amazing, the difference will pretty much take care of the rest for them. Both teams are right next to each other in offensive stats but the main difference will be Utah’
s ability to stop the run and the pass from California.

California Golden Bears was a big disappointment this season. They were once ranked sixth and then got blown out by Oregon and USC and seemed to recover their mojo before falling hard at Washington in the season finale. That was heart crushing for their fans but they still made it to the bowl season against a fierce adversary. QB Kevin Riley, RB Jahvid Best, RB Shane Vereen, WR Marvin Jones and WR Verran Tucker will be the key for California, their running game produced about 22 tds this season and it could be the weapon against Utah, what better way to defeat a team that run the ball as many times as possible without giving up any possessions, this could be about the only effective strategy they will need to use.
