Fresno State Bulldogs finished the season 3rd on the WAC Standings with an overall record of 8-4 while Wyoming Cowboys finished 5th on the Mountain West with an overall record of 6-6. This will be the first bowl of the season so as we can expect no amazing quality or great plays will come from it, both schools didn’t have great numbers throughout the season and we can anticipate the same thing from them at this game.

Fresno State Bulldogs finished strong scoring about 34.3 points per game average and only 27.8 points received which gives the team a great advantage. Adding more to the offense RB Ryan Mathews after a concussion came back and led his team to a victory on the last game of the season. He finished as one of the best running backs in the country averaging 6.8 yards per carry and 134.7 yards per game all season long. That will certainly had to catch Wyoming’s eye when it comes to rushing defense. Besided Mathews Fresno State will count with QB Ryan Colburn, RB Robbie Rouse. WR Seyi Ajirotutu and WR Jamel Hamler, all incredibly talented players healthy enough to carry the team to another victory. Obviously their biggest threat will be the running game and in that way they will chew the clock as much as possible, all they need to do is run the offense 10 yards at a time and that will be all.

Wyoming Cowboys had a “just ok season” with a record of 6-6 and a conference record of 4-4, even all the way for them this year. Mountain West Conference have tough teams like TCU, BYU, Utah (all in the top 25) and a surprising Air Force that gave hell to this team. Wyoming strong point against Fresno State will be the passing game. It appears to be almost even between both teams and it’s the only answer the Cowboys can offer to a very tough game. Players like QB Austyn Carta-Samuels, RB Alvester Alexander, WR Brandon Stewart, WR David Leonard and WR Zach Bolger will be the offense that will try to penetrate the Bulldogs defensive line but it looks like wyoming is no a very strong team when it comes to scoring, they average only 16.9 points and they receive in average 27.3 points and that negative record means so much in this type of games that it looks virtually impossible for them to come out as winners of this bowl. Wyoming’s only chance will be to make an effective running defense against the Bulldogs’ all star RB Ryan Mathews and hope that their own QB can deliver effectively the whole game.
