No.3 Texas Longhorns and No.22 Nebraska Cornhuskers will dispute the Dr.Pepper BIG 12 Championship game. No.3 Texas tops Big 12 South with a perfect overall record of 12-0 and an outstanding performance thru the season while No.22 Nebraska tops the Big 12 North with an overall record of 9-3.

No.3 Texas Longhorns and their QB Colt McCoy are having a great year. The Longhorns record so far 12-0 allows them to go to the BCS national championship game. The Longhorns claimed the 2005 season national championship by upsetting Southern Cal in what forever will be remembered as the Vince Young Gets Even game. Believing he was snubbed by not winning the Heisman (USC’s Reggie Bush did), Young promised the entire state of Texas he’d compensate with a BCS win. Fast forward to present day — same venue, same storyline. The Heisman is wide open. Texas QB Colt McCoy, who finished second last season, made a great statement on Thursday against Texas A&M. He has won more games as a starter than any QB in college football history. The Longhorns will have RB Tre’ Newton, WR Jordan Shipley and WR James Kirkendoll all of them stars carrying the team with McCoy thru the perfect season. This will be the perfect chance to show the nation that they are ready for the big game and also for the Heisman Trophy.

No.22 Nebraska Cornhuskers with a record of 9-3 faces yet their biggest game of the season. QB Zac Lee, RB Roy Helu Jr., RB Rex Burkhead, WR Niles Paul and TE Mike McNeill will be the Cornhuskers biggest and may be the only weapon against the Longhorns. They will need to outshine Texas defense with great plays and awesome runs. If they go by grown they will be playing it safe and that all they can do, no good will come from throwing at the beginning of the game otherwise they will never catch Texas. QB Zac Lee will trot out on the field and try to not turn the ball over. He’s not a threat to run, but Lee throws a good deep ball. He just lacks targets. Plus offensive coordinator Shawn Watson has resigned himself to taking the ball out of the air. He knows Nebraska can’t afford quick possessions that are derailed by incompletions. The Huskers do have Pelini. He’s played and coached in enough games in his career to know that no game is over before it starts. Pelini stressed after the Colorado game that he would have his team ready, and there is no reason to think otherwise.
